â PAIRING: Yoo Jeongyeon x fem!reader
â SUMMARY: You confessed. Now you just have to wait for tour to be over for you to finally get to kiss her. Or not.
â WORD COUNT: 10k (wtf)
â WARNINGS: featuring other JYP idols (itzy & skz mention), maybe angst i'm not sure (i might have a problem), big miscommunication, everyone's nosey as hell (mee too), suggestive themes (no actual smut), twice being a little messy, inspired by belly & conrad
If there was two things in this world you could be absolutely certain of, that was that you can always bet that TWICE is going to be on tour and they'd be gone for months and months on end.
When you were younger, you'd go with.
Pretend to be two normal young girls going on the spring break trip you never got that also included people screaming your best friend's name until their mouths went dry.
It was cool to imagine but it wore off instantly.
Her life was never going to be anything normal and you would never get to have her all to yourselfânot like how you wanted.
Your crush probably spanned almost their entire career.
Being friends with Jeongyeon so long, your admiration as a friend morphed into attraction.
It was very hard not to fall in love with her.
There was no one who made you laugh like she did, no one who listened to your problems and helped you out when you needed like her, and she looked like a goddess.
You'd be crazy not to mix things up.
And you certainly were nuts.
Because even though you knew you couldn't change your way of thinking, you still stayed around, letting your mind blur the lines that you spent so long drawing, trick yourself into thinking maybe she likes you back.
You figured it wasn't possible.
She had millions of people basically kissing her feet.
Why would she want you? You thought.
Or at least that's what you asked as you hid in ITZY's studio, not wanting to travel downstairs to where the girls were about to load onto their van to the airport.
You were meant to see them off, say bye like you always did since you weren't going to see Jeongyeon until at least Christmas.
But you remained planted in your seat, staring at Ryujin on her phone like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
You actually didn't even realize you were locked in on her until Lia snapped her fingers in your face.
"What are you doing here? Isn't Jeongyeon leaving like right now? Don't you normally say bye like you're sending her off to war?"
That earns a laugh from Ryujin, though she doesn't even lift her head to look at either of you.
"I don't do that."
They both quirk a brow at you, causing you to deflate.
Ok, maybe you did do that.
"It doesn't matter. She'll survive if I don't say bye to her once. TWICE is on tour constantly, chances are she's not going to notice if I don't go just this one time."
You didn't want to believe your words, some selfish part of you wanted her to notice, for her to run to you like you're the only one for her and kiss you until you couldn't breathe anymore.
But that wasn't a thought you were allowed to have.
Not when you weren't allowed to have her.
"Doubt it," Ryujin muttered to herself.
"Why?"
"Oh, come on. She notices when your makeup changes, even if it's slightly. She's probably making everyone wait until you get there."
Your brows furrowed. "Why? I'm not going with them."
"But Jeongyeon wishes you were."
You paused to just look at her, to find any sign that she was joking. But she was just dumbstruck that your eyes didn't work.
"Wait, you don't know?"
You frowned, shaking your head.
You hated when she asked dumb questions. Of course, you didn't know what she was talking about. You wouldn't have asked.
"You'd have to be blind to not see how that girl is obsessed with you. Genuinely.â She rolled her eyes, going back to her phone like this conversation was suddenly above her.
âObsessed?â
Lia smacked her teeth, also done with your aloofness.
âShe likes you! Jeez, you canât tell?â
Your eyes blow open cartoonishly. Your mind isnât sure she said what you thought she did, she couldnât have been.
You would have noticed if Jeongyeon liked you, right?
You had been friends forever, you could tell what she was feeling before she even told you. How could you miss something so big, so loud?
"She likes me?"
They both nod aggressively.
"You're both actually very obvious with your feelings. It's just neither one of you can pick up on social cues. If anything, you should take it as a sign that you two are perfect for each other." Lia shortly explained.
It didn't stop your brain from going a mile a minute.
A bomb was dropped; your mind needed time to let it scatter.
Sadly, your friends weren't as patient as you were. And neither was the car downstairs.
"What are you still doing here?" Ryujin's phone is now long discarded on the table and she's giving you a slight shove.
"Sitting?"
"Girl, if you don't go be brave and tell that girl how you feel before she leaves."
She basically pulled you off the couch and pushed you out the door, no room to even decline if you wanted to.
"Why are you so invested in this?"
"Annoyance." Ryujin answered at the same time as Lia, "Boredom, really."
But you're not given any time to respond as they decide it's time for you to get a move on, ushering you to the elevator like it's their job.
You almost forget to press the button.
The rattle of the machine you were trapped seemed louder today. Usually the elevator in the building was a silent killer, it moved quietly and quickly. Sometimes you didn't even notice it was moving.
Today?
You could hear every rope, every chain, so much so you could have sworn everything was about to snap and you were about to make headlines.
You thank whoever responsible for letting you get to the ground safely.
But then you step out and see outside, now you wished it would have plummeted to the bottom and not left any remains.
The JYP building entrance was basically all glass, you couldn't appear in front without being seen by literally anyone who happened to be lurking in the lobby.
The road was clearâand empty.
TWICE's vans to the airport were supposed to be out there, they were still supposed to be packing up for the year they were going to be on the road.
But they weren't.
You could pretend to be slightly disappointed but the pumping of your heart doesn't hear that.
You weren't going to see her for a while.
You wouldn't be able to hug her, see her face without a screen between you, or even hear her voice without that garbled noise you hated.
Your heart began thumping erratically. The severity hadn't dawned on you until now. Sure, she left a lot but this was the first time you actually had something valuable to say to her and you needed to say it before she left Korea.
You were lucky fate was on your side.
"Y/n?"
Her voice broke through the sounds of speeding cars on the road before you, coming out of the fictional fog like an angel was Jeongyeon, wearing the biggest coat you had ever seen in your life.
Like it was swallowing her.
"What are you doing out here?"
She runs up to you in slow motion, your mind makes you believe she's moving slower than normal since you can't breathe just from the sight of her.
"Looking for you," your teeth chattered with every word, shivering with the breeze.
She moves quickly, wrapping you up in the gigantic cocoon that was on her body. You press into her very easily.
"I was scared for a second. I thought you were gone."
She chuckles slightly, a cold smoke leaving her with the sound.
"No, the car wasn't moving so Jihyo had to call a tow truck. Her and our manager went with it so now we're waiting. They're on their way back." She gestures with her head to the group of girls behind her, all sitting on their suitcases, all doing something to pass the time.
"Good. I didn't want to miss seeing you off."
For the first time since you opened the front door, you felt warm. Not because the comically-large jacket was cradling you but because you had finally caught her eyes, sparkling and shining the way they always did when she was looking at you.
Although now there was meaning.
Meaning you were hoping to find if only you could just open your mouth.
"I was hoping you wouldn't. I've been looking for you, you know. You see us off all the time. It's like ritual at this point. I can't leave without saying goodbye to you first."
"Sorry, I took so long. I was trying to psych myself up to talk to you."
Her face crumpled in confusion. You tried not to melt at how cute it looked.
"Why didn't you tell me you liked me?"
Her face dropped. Any color that may have arrived when she saw you is gone. You had never seen her so stunned.
"What are you talking about?" You watch as the vein in her forehead pops out a little as she tries to throw you off her scent. It's very noticeable, now that you know to look for it.
"I'm talking about the fact that both of us have feelings for each other this entire time and neither one of us noticed."
Her face is tight, she's going through the motions you very recently had and soon enough, her gaze softens and she can't stop herself from bursting out a smile.
"What?"
"This whole time, I thought you didn't like me back." You pouted.
"I thought you didn't like me back!"
Damn, Lia was right. You two are perfect for each other.
For a second, you're quiet, staring at each other since you both have so much you want to say and you know you don't have enough time to say it all.
Especially when you hear the car pull back up behind her.
Jihyo's already screaming in anguish about how long it took for them to get the car working again and rushing the girls to pack back up so they could get on the road and back on schedule.
And just like you expected, the moment deflated. She'd be in the air before the day was over and you couldn't stay in her arms like this forever.
You know she's not going to let go first so you shake out of the jacket, opening the door immediately.
"I'm going to miss you when you're gone. I'll always do, of course. But this first time my desire for you to be here is a little different."
She reached for you dangerously, like she wanted to bring you with but she doesn't commit to it, her arm dropping when her leader called her name.
"It's fine," you shook it off. "I'll see you when you come back."
You turned around, going to fully enter the building because it was too freaking cold outside right now.
But she grabbed your elbow, effectively making you turn back around to see the desperate look glaring at you.
"But we have to talk about this."
"And we will â when you come back. But right now, you have to go."
Once again, Jihyo's shouting for her to get in the car like a mom at the end of her rope. Jeongyeon yelled back that she was coming, she was just saying bye to you.
"Wait for me. I promise we will talk about this when I come back. Don't give up on me." She squeezes slightly, tethering you to this moment so you wouldn't forget it in the months to come.
You didn't think it was possible.
"I won't."
And just in case you thought about letting it slip out of your brain the moment she was out of your sight, she grabbed you by the neck and pulled you in to press a harsh kiss into your cheek.
"I'll see you later?"
You don't trust your mouth to say anything coherent right now so you just give her an excited nod.
Your face is already on fire and you're not even fully in the building yet.
You kept her in your sights for as long as you could. You saw the car door close, everyone waved as they got further and further from you. Soon enough, they were just a speck. And you were just standing outside for no reason.
This wouldn't be the first time the cold was going to bite you.
The entire first month, you fight every urge to text her.
It seemed a little crazy in hindsight but at the same time, you didn't want to encroach at such a time when she needed to be on, a time where she wouldn't be able to give you her full attention.
Plus, you didn't want to explain how you felt over your phone's speaker.
So it was better to not speak to her at all.
She didn't notice anyway, not over everyone's screams.
You kept your head and your hands focused on other things.
You never really cared about your cafĂŠ job all that much since it was just something to put food on your table but with not much else to do, you take in everything about it.
You chip in a little more to make the space look nicer, getting your boss' permission to spice up the seating area, he even let you decorate the menu board a little more lively to get people's attention.
In fact, all of your art got the attention of one of your other co-workers.
You were sitting on your car in the parking lot, scarfing down your lunch as if it was going to run away from you. You couldn't understand why you were so hungry. It's not like this was your first meal of the day.
It was.
You don't realize she's watching until she see the shadow above.
"Hello." You greeted, mouth full of gas station food that you weren't done chewing yet.
She smiles. Her cheeks are a little rosy from the breeze and they plump up a little with her grin.
You'd return itâif everything wasn't going to fall out when you did.
"Hi, you did the dragon drawing out front, right?"
You nod, covering your mouth as you finally swallowed.
"How did you do that? I'm still learning how to do hands."
"I studied art."
"Really?"
"No," you snickered. "My friend and I got really high one night and googled tutorials to draw all the mythological animals for a comic idea. We forgot about the idea but I still can draw a dragon kind of well."
You didn't hear what you said until after. Your loose lips were always getting you in trouble and now you were spilling your guts to strangers.
Luckily for you though, she doesn't judge you and or shame you for making weird life choices, she instead just chuckled and claimed that something like that happened to her before.
She wasn't a narc, she was actually pretty cool.
Turns out she's been working her a little longer than you and was also still finding her way around. Not for lack of trying although since your boss was prehistoric and you really only saw him when it was paycheck time.
Everybody else who worked around you two weren't much in your age bracket either.
And being the two youngest people on staff?
It was very easy for you two to flock together.
You found out her name was Na-bi and that she was a real art student. She told you how badly she's trying to pay her way but how hard it is considering that school costs a lot.
You felt for her, it was very hard not to but you did.
So you gave her someone to talk to, someone to unload onto since she didn't have anyone. Another way to keep yourself busy and not notice how Jeongyeon's name calls to you in the middle of the night like a Green Goblin mask.
You try to focus on your new friend and what she's doing, it's better than longing for something you can't have, at least not yet.
During one of your usual chats with her, she spotted how she was losing you a little on every other word, like your brain was somewhere else, far away from the front counter right now.
"You okay, Y/n? You look a little lost."
You blinked yourself back into the building, suddenly feeling a little sheepish about letting your mind take you away during work.
"Sorry, I don't know what that was." You shook it off.
But that didn't make her stop worrying. You may have only been friends for a short week, but that didn't mean she cared for you any less.
It actually meant she cared more than all of your other colleagues.
"Do you want to tell me about it?" Her hand comes to rest on your shoulder to ground you, a gesture you're grateful for even if you don't show it.
With your best friend not at your right hand anymore, and most of your time spent at your job, the only person it felt like you talked to was Na-bi. But you hadn't spilled your guts to her.
"It's just that I confessed my feelings to my best friend before she went on her trip and now I'm not going to see her for a bit and it's tearing me up inside."
No one expected the squeal she let out, some of the customers even jumped a little.
"Sorry! Sorry. I just have never had a friend who's been in an active romantic plot. It's kind of exciting." She jittered.
You would have thought she was the one waiting for her love to return.
"Your life is literally like a tv show. Next thing you're going to tell me is that she's an idol, or something." Her chuckle rattled in your chest as she sauntered back into the kitchen.
If only she knew how right she was.
ŕ¨ŕ§
Somehow, even across the world, your thoughts still remained intertwined because as your mind couldn't leave the topic of her, she couldn't stop thinking about you either.
As soon as the car pulled away from the sidewalk and Jeongyeon couldn't see you anymore, the mental picture of you returning upstairs without her felt damning.
How she wished she could deny all responsibilities just to turn around and kiss you like she wanted.
But alas, tour awaits and if she delayed them any longer, their manager was going to have her head.
You waited for each other this long, what's another year?
Turns out â it's agony.
But neither of you knew that.
Not that early.
They got to their first stop in no time. The girls checked into their hotel the moment they got there.
They all wanted to spread out, let their limbs rest after their hectic flight but they weren't allowed, not until they went through soundcheck.
Everything was the same, nothing too out of place.
The girls did every song they were performing that night, going over dances they've done a million times before it was second nature.
To the outside, it just looked like they were doing what was told to them.
But not from within.
Nayeon's been staring at the back of Jeongyeon's head since they arrived at the venue. She was curious on why her eyes were so locked in on her friend's hair. Usually it was because it was so silky but this time, she couldn't help but feel an anxious vibe coming off of her.
It wasn't normal for her, she usually is a little more sure of herself, especially when it came to performing.
Although today, her energy was a little sour.
And very not her.
Nayeon's gaze remained suspicious until they were on their way back.
Even in the car, she noticed Jeongyeon staying to herself, she wasn't poking or joking with anyone, she wasn't even humming the song the driver was playing.
"Ok, what's wrong?"
Jeongyeon kind of jumped, no one was talking prior to that outburst besides the hushed conversations going on behind them.
"What do you mean?" She wondered, in her head, it might have seemed like she was being mysterious, not showing her unease.
She was very wrong.
"What's with the pout, huh? A bird steal your sandwich or something?"
"This isn't some old French movie. I'm not going to curse at the sky with a mustache and a beret. I'm fine."
Once again, Nayeon's skeptic.
She quirked a brow at her friend.
"If you're fine, your face has some explaining to do. You've looked very heartbroken since we landed. What happened? Did you hurt yourself during the set?"
She chuckled, that would have been a way cooler version to be upset. She could milk it for the rest of the weekend, maybe get special treatment and sleep a little longer.
But this wasn't something she could fix with extra rest.
"I know it's a little early but I guess I just miss Y/n."
That took all the wind out of her sails, once your name was mentioned, she could see the entire picture. She didn't have to give anymore hints.
"Oh, that's what this is. You're all wound up because you miss your lady friend. You two are so dependent. Have you told her that you like her yet?"
Her gaze snapped to Nayeon's, somehow, she didn't expect anyone could tell. Then again, all the subtlety of a My Little Pony.
"Everyone knows about your crush. I'm surprised she doesn't, since you're always staring like it's your job."
That works too.
Her mouth forms a thin line, retreating out the window in embarrassment.
"For your information, I don't stare like it's my job. And she does know about my feelings. But since we were being rushed, we didn't really get to talk much. So now we're halfway around the world and I can't talk to my best friend because I don't want to have this conversation over the phone."
All of her words come out in a huff, one breath as she let all of her worries rush out like chains.
She had been holding it in since the ride to the airport.
It felt good to not keep it inside for once.
Well it did til she finally met Nayeon's eyes and she was beaming like the sun.
She reached over in no time to pinch her cheeks. She tried to swat her away to no avail.
"Aw! That is so cute! You love her." She teased.
"And this is why I never tell you anything now!"
Things stopped feeling so vexing about four months in.
You found a groove and once you actually began liking your job, it was kind of easy to fall into the mold that was becoming adulthood.
Na-bi had moved up the friend ladder as time went on. She wasn't best friend title since that was taken at the moment (even if not physically) but you were close. So much so you started hanging outside of work, having dinner at your house, and even divulging your lives to each other.
She told you how her mom didn't support her decision to move across the world to pursue a dream she didn't understand. They were stuck in a quarrel about said dream.
You finally came clean about your crush and told how she was right on the money, that she was an idol, in which she dramatically corrected by saying she was one of the most famous ones.
You didn't even realize you downplayed it, it happened out of habit.
She had always just been the same person to you, Jeongyeon, your best friend, never Jeongyeon from TWICE.
Although it was becoming harder to call her that when you had nothing to show for it. Not when your phone was basically shoving in your face that she was dancing and smiling with crowds of people that weren't you.
The two of you didn't stay detached with the tour, you refused it after a while. She still liked your stories whenever you found time to post, dropping a little message that could have just been hearted and disregarded.
And definitely not making your heart beat out of your chest like it was a full declaration.
You posted your aesthetic lunch that you were really proud of: she liked it and told you how cute it looked and that she missed you.
Pretty tame, you liked the message and parroted it back.
You added the kissy emoji but then deleted because you didn't want to sound too flirty.
Safe to say, you were teased for that action.
A sidewalk sign drawing you were really proud of for the week: she sent you hearts and complimented your talents like she normally did.
Your finger slipped and you admitted to her that her comment brought a heat to your cheeks.
She didn't send words back, just a smirking face.
By that point, everyone you knew was pointing fingers at you and laughing. You were the kingdom jester and all they did was come to you when they needed a giggle.
All you were good for really.
It was probably the reason everyone was coming over to your place on the weekend and not because they wanted to meet your friend from work.
You had promised Yeji you were going to make her pizza so it felt like the perfect time to invite them all over. However, someone let word spread that you were breaking out the pizza oven for the first time and it got over to Hyunjin and Jisung.
Somehow now you were cooking for nine.
They were lucky you didn't live in a shoebox anymore.
You could actually seat all these unwanted guests.
If only they didn't know where you lived.
ŕ¨ŕ§
Tour seemed to drone on the way it always did when she was on the road this long.
Her back doesn't get used to the hotel beds but she learned there's no winning so she just kind of flipped over and bore it.
Every few days feels the same; singing, dancing, having all the energy in the world on stage so people don't see how actually tired she was and counting down the days until she can see you again.
Your life continues on as her stays where it always does.
She's on tour for the fiftieth time while you're moving up in the world, she found out from your phone calls.
Every so often, Jeongyeon is up at a random hour in a random tour stop and she just so happens to time it correctly to catch you in the timezone back home, and give you a call.
You're always so elated when she calls, like you had been waiting.
It's a different energy than the one on tour, it's refreshing.
You gushed about your promotion and all the new music the girls were working on, you sounded so..normal.
Like you weren't at all affected from being apart so long.
If you hadn't said you missed her, she might not have believed it.
And it didn't take long for her to notice she had been replaced in your circle of friends.
She hadn't completely seen her yet but she remember you mentioning her name in one of your chats as something about work you were talking about offhandedly.
It stung a little, hearing you had a friend she knew nothing about.
Someone else taking your attention the way she usually did.
And she couldn't even fight for it since she wasn't with you anymore, not the way she wanted.
She didn't even want to hold onto your romantic feelings, she didn't even know if you still felt them anymore, not when you hadn't brought it up to any capacity or called her first.
Maybe she was just bothering you and you wanted nothing to do with her.
She was just some idol who was bombarding on your life.
You did look quite happy without her.
On your stories for the most part.
When she didn't have time to actually contact you like she wanted, she would settle for just scrolling through your social media to see what you had been up to.
That's what she was preparing to do before she had to go on in a few hours anyway and then she noticed your close friends story.
You only posted on it when you had something that others weren't allowed to see, AKA when you were with your famous friends.
Tonight, you seemed to be having a pizza party with the ITZY girls and an already drunk Jisung. At least, it looked like he was, he was hanging off your couch upside down.
She didn't even realize the smirk pulling on her cheek at your antics.
Even from afar, you were still the cutest when tipsy.
She watched as you showcased everyone's drunk creations.
The face Hyunjin tried to create with toppings. The flowers Yuna very adequately made, even under the influence as you could tell from her eyes. She even chuckled when she saw your very bland cheese abomination.
But of course, her fun stalking spree had to be stopped when your 'new friend' made an appearance. This time, physically.
Supposedly, everyone at pizza night deemed her design the best one of the night.
She had seemed to mold her dough to look like a cat and she decorated it to look like Hello Kitty, all while drinking and apparently keeping up with everyone else.
It was very clear she was very creative.
It kind of made it hard to hate her.
Although that kind of flew out the window when she clicked over to the next picture and she was kissing your cheek.
It shouldn't have been a gut punch but it was.
She had done that exact thing almost 5 months ago, at the time, she deemed as something special considering it was the first time she had kissed you, even if it wasn't on the lips like desired.
It wasn't like Jeongyeon was the first person to kiss you on the cheek but she had intended the next time, that would be her too.
She didn't envision anybody else would be that close to you, not when that was her job.
"What are you staring at?"
Chaeyoung appeared in the corner of Jeongyeon's vision, suddenly sitting behind her as if she was always there and she just never noted it.
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean 'what do I mean'? You've been playing face olympics with your phone for the past 15 minutes. I was just wondering if you needed me to call someone." She raised a brow.
Jeongyeon made a face of perplexity. "What is face olympics?"
She answered by contorting her features back and forth very over the top as if she's trying to get a laugh from a invisible audience.
"I thought you were having a stroke."
"I did not look like that!" She fought. "And I did not look like I was having a stroke."
She continued doing the bit even when the rest of the girls file in, all stopping to look at the weird faces Chaeyoung was making, some of them even taking pictures to giggle about later.
"Why does it look like you're having a stroke?" Mina inquired, demurely floating down into the seat beside her.
That was enough to make her stop, gesturing to the other woman.
"See?! You looked wild."
The loud noises cease all other conversations, now bringing all attention to the two girls bickering on the other side of this very wide green room.
"What's going on?" Sana chimed in, turning her body over to the action.
"Jeongyeon was making faces at her phone and she won't tell me why." Chaeyoung squinted her eyes at said victim, it was almost reminiscent of when your siblings tell on you when you're not doing anything wrong.
"Is it Y/n again?"
Nayeon doesn't even look up from her device, she's not even in the middle of the conversation. She's off to the side, commenting with absolutely no personal interest in the matter.
She just opened her mouth and put lightbulbs above everyone else's heads.
Everyone's mouths made 'O' shapes and now they were on her like moms when you tell them you have a boyfriend.
"Have you told her how much you love her yet?" Momo teased, rolling her eyes playfully.
"Is she sending pictures? Is that why you're blushing?" Jihyo poked her in her side a little, trying to get a snort to come out.
Jeongyeon just huffed.
"If you must know, this is what I was making faces at."
She flipped her phone around to all the other girls so they could see your story for all of its glory.
Their joint reaction is decently enough like hers that she doesn't feel so crazy for before.
"Is that girl kissing her on the face?" Chaeyoung is distraught as if her lover cheated on her, it's very hard to tell if it's still a joke or not but no one touches on it.
"Wait, I thought â didn't she tell you that she had feelings for you right before you left?" Nayeon tipped her glasses down similar to a teacher.
She nodded very obviously.
"Then who is that?" Momo gestured to the screen.
"Her 'friend' from work, Na-bi, I think her name was. Does it matter?" She puts quote around the word friend. She didn't know much about this character to consider her that highly.
There was no way you knew each other that well in 5 months.
"It absolutely does matter. What if she's moving on?" Chaeyoung's expressions are skewed again, this time into a frown.
"In 5 months?" Momo questioned.
"I've moved on quicker."
Once again, Nayeon muttered to herself, laying down another smackdown she didn't even know was in her hands.
It was just for the love of the game at this point.
She didn't want to be but Jeongyeon was in her head the entire show.
She had hoped no one could tell but from how things had gone earlier in the day, she couldn't be too sure.
In her head, she knew you didn't belong to her in any meaning of the word. But she had wished she meant more to you than that. That you were serious about your feelings as much she was. That you actually were awaiting the talk just like she was.
But she couldn't know that now, not with everything kind of up in the air for her.
In no time, the sun outside had disappeared.
Her thought prison had kept her locked in for so long that she fully blanked out a lot of her day.
She was back in her hotel room, Jihyo snoring in the bed right next to her. The moon peered down on her like a spotlight in an opera, it was so bright and overwhelming, it could have been fake.
She was in her pajamas, and yet she didn't feel like sleeping.
Not now, not when all of her questions kept coming back to you.
She had to call you, no matter what time it was over there. If you answered, cool, that was a good option. But if you didn't, she'd get your voicemail and she could give her message uninterrupted.
She would just have to wait.
She was prepared to take that chance.
She just had to do it without waking Jihyo up.
Jeongyeon snatched her phone off the charger with haste, her feet skittering across the marble floor as she snuck onto the balcony and shut the door.
Now it was just her, the big moon, and her phone, staring her in the face with your number and face painted on it.
She clicked it before she could talk herself out of it, pressing it to her ear.
It rang, and it rang, and it rang and eventually she did get to hear your voice but it was only to tell her how you missed the call. Plan 2 it was: unloading on your answering machine.
"Uh, hey, I know you're probably sleeping. Your night looked more eventful than mine and I was on stage." She tried to laugh but it came out incomplete.
She cleared her throat.
"But I just wanted to tell you that I was thinking about you and what you said before I left a few months ago. Actually, I think I'm always thinking about you. You're very hard to get out once you get into people's minds, do you know that?"
She reached out for the railing for some stability but it doesn't help much, she still feels like her legs were going to give out and she wasn't even talking to you.
"I hope I pop in your mind as much as you're in mine. I really like you, I just wanted you to know that. I might even lâ" She slapped her hand over her mouth so fast, she almost dropped her phone.
She forced a clarity in her throat again.
"Sorry, something was in my throat."
She paused for a little too long before she spoke again.
"I should be in Paris by the time you get this. I remember how you said you wanted to go. I really wish you were here to see it with me. But I know our paths are parallel at the moment. Justâdon't forget me, okay?"
She hangs up with a heavy heart and with even less answers than before.
Maybe it was just time for her to go to bed.
She had to be on again tomorrow anyway.
Her message gets to you in the middle of the night.
You didn't hear her calling since you flipped over and your phone fell out of your blanket, underneath your bed.
It wasn't found until you got up for the bathroom and saw it glowing.
Her name was the first thing you noticed.
The one time you sleep with your ringer off, and your best friend calls you out of nowhere.
Nausea hits you immediately.
You don't want to think about what she possibly could be calling for, all of the reasons you could think of were way too bad to be realistic.
You just decided to listen to what she left instead of making things up.
Your heart warmed at hearing her voice even if she sounded just as tired as you looked. She was babbling a little but you could hear how sincere she was.
She always sounded so sweet.
Somewhere in the nonsense, she found her main point; how you're always consuming her thoughts.
And then she says the words you don't realize that she hadn't said point blank to you before, not until this moment. Not until your heart actually stops.
She stuttered a little cutting herself off but you hear her fragment of a sentence, it's enough to wake you up fully.
But in her classic fashion, she deviates, going on to talk about the tour.
Her message doesn't end without crushing you first, because would it be a sad long-distance phone call if she wasn't saying things she wouldn't say to your face?
"Justâdon't forget me, okay?"
Forget her?
How could something of that sort ever happen?
She was your best friend, had been for years. There was no one in the world who knew more of your secrets than her, no one who you were more comfortable with, no one you wanted to be with more than her.
How could she leave your head when she was cemented in there?
You couldn't live with her thinking you didn't care about her. You thought about calling her back but that was a little unreliable.
If you were going to talk to her, it was going to be to her face without anything in between it.
Which set you on a mad dash around your room to find clothes at this random hour of the night.
If you were going to talk to her, you needed to be in Paris.
Oh no, sounded like it was time for a vacation.
In your stupor, you dial Ryujin's number.
You knew she wasn't sleeping, she was usually okay at this hour, doing something she couldn't explain to you since you weren't with her the beginning of her random odd conquest.
She answered immediately.
"What are you still doing up? Isn't your day off tomorrow? I figured you'd be sleeping until you were needed." Her voice found you a little muffled, but not because of how bad your phone was but she seemed to be eating something.
In the middle of the night.
"That doesn't matter right now. Jeongyeon called me hours ago and I missed it. Long story short, I'm going to Paris to tell her I love her."
Things are quiet on the other side, no hints of her being there, you almost checked to see if you accidentally hung up.
"Finally, jeez! I have to ring Na-bi, she owes me money."
You listen in disbelief as she dialed your friend and added her to the call.
"Wait, so many questions. One, how do you have her number? And two, what did she bet you?" You slam your small carry-on closed. You don't plan on being there too long.
"We exchanged at your little pizza thing. I needed someone else to tease you with. And she didn't think you had it in you. Not like I did, anyway. She bet you were actually going to drive yourself mad and wait until they came back. I had hope that you were going to grow some balls." She laughed triumphantly. "I love being right."
Somehow, your friend answered too, going on the three-way instantly.
So, you were the only person not awake at the right time to answer your phone.
"Hello?" She sounded a little gruff, like she previously was snoozing.
"Y/n is about to hop a plane to Paris to finally tell Jeongyeon how much she loves her."
Again, there's quiet.
"I'm on my way over."
ŕ¨ŕ§
Your lights have fully come on now and now there are two other girls in your space, not helping you pack but staring as you did so.
"I can't believe you're literally on your way to Paris right now to confess to your best friend that you love her. What are you, Belly Conklin?" Na-bi was in jubilation, wiggling like a chihuahua.
It was honestly kind of making you jitter too.
This was big, bigger than you was letting yourself think about at the moment. You were completely dropping your life for a few days to have a small Paris vacation for the weekend.
It was absolutely nuts.
But you'd be crazy to let it slip through your fingers again.
"Your life is officially more interesting than mine." She nudged you, causing you to let a smile break out.
"Mine too." Ryujin chimed in. "And I'm performing tomorrow."
You let out a deep breath, your hands retreating to your hips as you took stake at what was in front of you.
"You guys are not helping the nerves. I already bought the ticket."
That part you didn't think about, you knew it was going to take a bit to get over there and you knew Jeongyeon was already in Paris. You had to get there before she left. So you needed to be hasty.
But now it was wearing on you.
Just a little.
"It's going to be great!" They both gave you a good luck squeeze and shake, hoping to get all the nerves out of you.
It did not work.
But you were already here.
Na-bi and Ryujin drove you to the airport. The latter to see with her own eyes, the former to solidify her money.
They both hugged you like it was the end but mostly to quell the ever-growing pit they knew was in your stomach.
You hurried to your gate, not giving yourself a chance to turn around.
On the plane, you couldn't sit still.
Your fingers twiddled on your lap, you fiddled with the zipper on your bag, anything you could get your hands on, something to focus on instead of the long hours ahead of you.
But then you got tired because you had woke up in the middle of the night for this trip, you were knocked out for the remaining time.
It was good on you too, you didn't want to be tired when you saw Jeongyeon again for the first time in months.
Paris was kind of scary in the middle of the night. You figured most places must be but it looked like the city was not on, all lights off, it could have been haunted.
The TWICE concert was hours ago, the streets were clear and it seemed as though no one was here but you.
You still had Jeongyeon's location so you found their hotel no problem.
You gave it to the cabbie and he drove you over.
You were now well-rested but that didn't mean you weren't still fidgeting yourself to the moon.
Luckily, the driver didn't question the constant moving, you were scared he was going to think you were unstable or something.
You bolted the moment he pulled up.
Even the hotel was daunting, everything about it was loud and fancy, there wasn't really anyone working when you walked in, no bellhop taking suitcases in the way you expected in a place with a chandelier dangling above your head.
You hobbled up to the front desk, ringing the bell without another thought.
The old stuffy man working there looked at you with a stink in his eyes. It was almost as if he was mad that you were coming to a hotel at night right now.
"Bonjour." He's stale and monotone, very French. "How may I be of assistance?"
"This might sound a little weird. But I promise I'm not a creep." Not a good way to start, but you were going to drive a truck through it. "My friend is staying here and I was hoping you could tell me what room she was in, I'm trying to surprise her."
He puts his ridiculously small glasses on and went to the computer, typing in an obnoxious amount of characters before turning back to you.
"Name?"
"Jeongyeon. Yoo."
He squinted at you, pushed the glasses down until the clattered on the counter.
"Do you know how many fans I had fight out my lobby today because that girl group's in town? I felt up to my ears in teenage girls. You would have thought One Direction came back. Do you think I'm dumb?"
You shook your head rapidly.
"It's not like that. We've been friends for years. I wouldn't lie."
"Right, and I'm Harry Styles. Take a hike!"
Your shoulders dropped in despair. You knew it was kind of a long shot but you had hoped French people were a little more trustworthy. It was a miscalculated speculation.
You turned around with a slump, you didn't want to believe you were giving up, you just didn't want to loiter.
That's when the elevator dinged.
Your eyes followed the loud noise, and you were happy you did.
Your best friend appeared in her coat (her size), in all her tired glory.
She lit up once she saw you, a smile bursting out on her face as she ran up to you to grip you up, crushing you completely and not caring about it, not anymore.
"Sorry, I'm late. I came as quick as I could." Your words are lost in her hair but you figured she heard you because her body rattles with her laugh.
"I missed you, like so much."
She's holding you as if you're something precious, cradling your close, her arms wrapped tightly around your torso like a belt.
"I missed you too."
She took your bag from you with her free hand, the other one tightening around you as she ushered you over to the elevator and to her room.
The two of you sat for a while in silence.
You sat on the edge of the bed, legs wiggling with anticipation.
She was right next to you, just staring. She was just trying to make sure you were real. Either one of you could have still been sleeping right now and you wouldn't be able to tell.
"So, how was your show?" You smiled.
"It was fine. Not better than seeing you though."
She's back on you in no time, bending to burrow into your chest. It's enough force to push you down into her fluffy bed.
"What are you doing here?"
"You called. I wanted to talk to my best friend."
She nodded and then she prompted that maybe this would be way easier if you took a night walk. Not wanting to pass up the chance to see more of Paris in the dark, you agree.
It's a little less creepy with Jeongyeon by your side, her clutching your hand like you were going to leave, it was grounding.
It gave the eeriness a poetic feel, it made sense why people painted it.
Cobblestone rattled under toes, you were grateful for your past self for thinking to pack better shoes than your fuzzy boots. Wind whooshed past your ear, whistling a song to fill in the silence between your steps.
"So," she swung your arm a little, rattling you like she's trying to get you to ignite. "What do you think of Paris? Everything you dreamed of?"
You grimaced, the empty hoots of owl illuminating all the glamour of your first look. "Definitely. Although, I'll wait to pass my judgement until I see what the day life look like."
Her gaze snapped to you.
"You're staying?"
"I mean my best friend invited me so.."
She smirked.
You walked further down the path, tugging her alongside you once she stopped.
You didn't notice but naturally, you drifted together like icebergs, huddling away from the slight breeze you weren't prepared for.
"I didn't mean to miss your call."
Everything quieted once you said that, you said the code word.
"I just didn't think you would contact me that late. I just figured you'd be tired after performing so I would have been an afterthought."
The little crease between her eyebrows got prominent, now she was rocking the scowl. She pulled your arm back, making you stop and look at her confused.
"When have you ever been an afterthought to me?"
You shrugged. "I don't know. This tour seems a little tougher. We don't talk as much as I would like to."
She doesn't stop the subtle disgust that wash across her face.
"Oh? Is that why you're making pizza with other women and letting them kiss you?"
You feel like a physical question mark forms over your head. You wanted to pretend you didn't remember what she was talking about but flashes of your bad decisions still haunted you right now.
Alcohol makes people do wild things.
"It was just a cheek kiss, Jeongie. You're acting like we were making out."
"You might as well had been!"
You eyed her with disbelief.
"Is this what you meant when you said 'don't forget me'? Did you think I was replacing you or something?"
Suddenly she's looking at the building behind you, the bags floating in the sky are more interesting than making eye contact with you.
"Hey," your hands comes up to her cheek, your touch is firm, tilting her head until she was forced to see you. "Look at me. Tell me what's up."
"It's just I kissed you like that months ago. How do I know that it meant anything to you if you're letting everyone nibble on your cheeks?"
A small laugh escapes you.
"Jeongyeon. Do you think I would have hopped a plane in the middle of the night if it meant nothing? I bought a ticket sporadically because you called and I was worried. You're my best friend."
Crushing words to someone who's been panicking.
She pushed your hand away, turning back to not meeting your stare.
"That's it?"
"Well..yeah. You're always going to be my best friend. No matter how attracted we are to each other or how much we love each other. Even when you're my girlfriend, you're still going to be my best friend."
Her pupils dilated under the Parisan streetlights. Her cheeks gained a new red hue, not caused by the sudden chill.
She could have sworn you could hear her heart beating out of her chest in the tranquil.
"What? You want me to be your girlfriend?"
"This is coming from the girl who called ME in the middle of the night just to tell me how much she liked me and how much I was occupying her mind." You nudged her a little, making a stray laugh fall.
This moment could have been plucked perfectly out of a movie, just as Na-bi had said, it was cinematic and immaculate.
The perfect moment to come in closer until you're sharing the same breath, you can feel her body heat burning you but it's not the kind you wanted to jump away from, but the kind you leaned into.
"You do pop in my mind. To be honest, I don't think you pop, you never leave. Not to sound creepy but you don't just occupy, you are wall-to-wall, embedded in my head, not leaving room for anything else. I have liked you since we met."
All tension leaves her shoulders, she fully focuses on you in the dark and you are luminous enough that she doesn't need to see anything else, it wasn't important.
Not like this was.
You lean in slow at first, just bumping your forehead with hers.
You listened as she held her breath, not wanting to breach the next thing. She thought she was going to pass out.
Not from performing in front of gobs of people but from you just rubbing your nose against hers. Instinctively, her eyes shut.
And then you ask that magic question she had wanted to hear so many months ago.
"Can I kiss you?"
She doesn't even trust her mouth to answer you properly, she just gives you a weak nod.
You had imagined this countless times before you finally got to it; where your hands would go, how she would react, how soft her lips would be.
And it was as magical as expected.
Her arms circled you, gripping into her body tighter like she was trying to get you two to become one. She might have crushed her nose a little from the force but she didn't care, everything else was too much.
You almost fall backward but she's strong, she holds you in place with all the confidence of someone who wasn't planning on letting go.
You were as hungry as she was, you had been longing for this too. Your tongue was on her fast, tracing her bottom lip as if you were asking for permission.
It's almost involuntary how her mouth opened when she gasped. It gives you ample time to bombard her.
You had kissed people before but never like this.
Years of pent-up attraction overwhelms the senses and rips your breath out of you forcefully. Your brain was basically soup, any and all other distractions were gone from vision, all you could feel was the plush of her lips.
That and your hand that had threaded in her hair.
Much to your dismay, she pulled away, out of breath.
You fight all urges to lean back in, your lungs are screaming too loud.
"That was better than I pictured it." Your words all come out on an exhale.
"What flavor is your chapstick?"
"Mango sunrise. I bought in the airplane gift shop. I wanted to be prepared."
She tries to chuckle but she's also fighting for oxygen. That doesn't stop her although from leaning in once more, pecking your lips for another taste.
"You are something else, you know that?"
Your laugh comes out hoarse but still light.
Unprecedentedly, the butterflies in your stomach were attacking you no longer, even if she took your breath away, you finally felt at ease just in her grasp.
"As long as I taste good."
"Oh, you do."
In a haze, she's still craving some type of skin so she started peppering kisses along your jaw.
You absentmindedly tilt your head up, to give her more room. Then you realized you were still in the public, doing this.
You tried to pry her off unsuccessfully but all you can feel is the tickle.
"Maybe we should go back to your room? And out of the cold, huh, babe?"
That's enough to get her off of you, staring at you with a wild lustful look in her irises.
She moved quicker than you had ever seen in your life, pulling you down the trail you just walked all over again, back to her hotel room.
EPILOGUE
Nayeon's been trying to sleep for the past hour but for some reason, Jeongyeon has been making unheard of sizes of ruckus. So much so it sounded like she was in there with multiple people.
Lifting weights.
Groans and whines vibrated off the wall, not enough for the whole floor to hear but just enough to bug her and make sure she was not well-rested for her day tomorrow.
She tried pressing a pillow to her ears, putting on her headphones. She even tried to look up one of the white noise videos to drown it out.
But nothing was working.
She thought about just texting her friend, telling her to keep it down, that other people were trying to sleep on this floor. But it didn't seem like enough, she needed to get the noise to cease now.
She angrily thrusted her bunny slippers on and snatched her fuzzy robe off the chair with a gruff.
She stomped over with all the fury of a woman cheated out of her hours.
She banged on the door; if she could make the noise, she could stand to hear it.
"What is going on in there?" She whispered as if she could hear through the door. And she must've because the sound stopped.
"People are trying to sleep."
There was a bunch of scuffling around, things being pushed around, legs scattering around like they were hoping to get out before Nayeon realized they were in there.
Soon enough, her friend appeared and opened the door.
"Yeah, hi. Are you having an orgy in here?"
Her eyes slim as if what she said was wild.
"What do you mean?"
"What do I mean? The sounds. Through the wall. It sounds like porn."
It was just a joke in the beginning, just razzing because she was sleep-deprived. But then she actually looked at Jeongyeon.
Her hair was tousled in the style of a movie star, she looked like when a fictional character woke up with messy hair. Her shirt is buttoned incorrectly. And most significantly, all the purple bruises that painted her skin.
Now Nayeon was the confused one.
"Wait, are you seriously having sex in there? With who?" She stood up on her tippy toes in hopes of getting a glimpse of whatever Parisian her friend might have invited into her bed. But Jeongyeon pulls it shut slightly.
"No one!"
All of her composure diminishes when you cough behind her, muttering a sorry that causes a hefty eye roll.
When she looks back to Nayeon, she's cheesing like Spongebob.
"Y/n's in there, isn't she?"
Jeongyeon's quick to shake her head but it's unconvincing.
"Hi, Y/n." She greets past her shoulder.
"Hey, Nay." You replied.
"Aw! She came to Paris for you?! You two are so cute!" Nayeon sung, she reaches out to tickle like she had done before but Jeongyeon's faster this time, pushing her back down the hallway to her room.

Story: Chaeyoung and Momo get high on weed and Chae's girlfriend visits.
Warnings: Mentions of drugs (Weed), stoned Momo and Chaeyoung, slightly suggestive.
Author's note: I could picture Chaeyoung as a stoner.
âďšďšďšďš
The dorms of the Korean national school of arts are filled with students. Itâs late at night. Some rooms are pitch black, and others are filled with friend groups laughing about funny stories. The dorm belonging to Son Chaeyoung and Hirai Momo is lit in a soft yellow tone coming from fairy lights. Momo is sitting by the window, watching the people outside the dorm. She trails the path their taking with her eyes. Her pupils - slightly red and blown out - trace the shadows in the dark as they either leave or enter the college grounds.
Her roommate, Son Chaeyoung, is sitting on her bed. A guitar sits on her lap. The strings strummed by Chaeyoungs fingers. A lit joint trapped between the lips of Chaeyoung, shortening with every pull from the artist. The eyes of Chaeyoungs match the state of Momoâs. Both of them love getting high after a stressful day at college.
The sounds coming from Chaeyoungs guitar are random but not bad. Slow and languid strokes of the acoustic guitar fill the dorm room and haye the minds of the two women. Chaeyoung stares straight ahead at the poster filled wall in front of her. The wall that belongs to her roommate, but is used by her to display her newest art project.
Momo laughs at something she has spotted with her stoned eyes. Chaeyoung stops playing and slowly turns to her roommate.
âWhatâs so funny?â Chaeyoung murmurs while stopping the strumming of her fingers.
âYour girlfriend is coming. Why didnât you tell me, Chaeyoungie?â Momo giggles while glancing back at Chaeyoung.
Momo only had a few hits. Most of the joint went into Chaeyoungs system as she had the blund in her mouth for at least ten minutes, her mind subcounciously pulling from the blund every once in a while. Her brain is away, gone beyond the stars in the galaxy, and exploring a new universe.
Chaeyoung giggles softly. âI invited her over today. Saw her at the cafeteria, you know?â Momo nods and turns her head to the window again. Her mind immediately focused on the people again.
Chaeyoung shrugs and starts palying again. The melody is slightly off but still beautiful.
Ten minutes pass, and someone enters the dorm room. Y/n enters the room and slightly stills at the intense smell of weed that has spread through the room. She shrugs and sits down next to Chaeyoung.
The two of them started dating only a few weeks after getting to college. Both immediately clicked and matched interests. Y/N often visits Chaeyoung in her dorm. She also doesnât mind that the latter is smoking weed and burning away her brain cells with the amount that she is smoking.
Y/n gets comfy next to her girlfriend and kisses her cheek. Chaeyoung smiles and turns to Y/n.
âHey. Missed you.â
âWe havenât seen each other for like four hours.â Y/n giggles and takes the Blund from her girlfriends lips. âMaybe you should stop smoking for tonight, or I might lose you to the weed.â She jokes while taking a hit herself. The drug slowly fills her lungs and sedating her brain.
Chaeyoung just watches with haye filled eyes. She leans in and lands a kiss on Y/n cheek.
Momo watches from the windowsill. She takes a few minutes to register the situation she's in and slowly gets up.
âNice seeing you, Y/n. I think I was meant to see Nayeon tonight. Iâll leave you two to it.â The dancer mutters while slowly leaving, not before taking her shoes. Chaeyoung giggles and waves Momo off. Y/n stare after the dancer until a hand slowly pulls your face back.
Chaeyoungâs hand stays at her girlfriends cheek and then gently wraps around the side of her face. She smiles and stares her down. Y/n leans into the touch, the feeling of her girlfriends hand grounding her.
Music softly plays in the background. Itâs one of Chaeyoungs recordings. She has contacts to some studio owners who allow her to record some songs every few months. The soft melodies echo through Y/n ears. She leans in and palces soft chast kisses on Chaeyoungs mouth. The latter replies by mirroring her kissing.
It takes them a few moments to break apart and catch their breaths, the weed in their system drowning out their sensations. Chaeyoungâs eyes yero in on Y/n. She, again, leans in and kisses her girlfriend. This time, though, the kiss is filled with much more intensity. Chaeyoung lets go of her guitar and uses both of her hands to cradle Y/nâs face. Their kissing turns more heated.
Chaeyoung only turns away to gently place away the guitar before almost falling over her girlfriend. A soft thud echoes through the room and disturbs the music playing in the background. Now, theyâre laying on the bed, Chaeyoung, on top of Y/n. She leans over Y/nâs body and moves her kisses down her neck. Slowly, dark marks build up on the skin.
The night goes on with kisses and hickeys, both of them too lost in each other to notice their drowsiness. Eventually, they both fall asleep on Chaeyoungs bed. The latter wrapped herself around her girlfriend.

Story: The new job exhausts you, so you try to turn to your boyfriend for comfort. In the end, Sana's arms are a better place to find comfort in.
Warnings: Cheating, slight angst, boyfriend.
Author's note: Hey... I'm back. It's been a long time since I wrote, but i did want to start again. Hope you like this âĽď¸.
âďšďšďšďš
It is a rainy and mostly quiet night. Cars swoosh by and drive through big puddles on the street, slashing water onto the people hurrying through the streets to get home or elsewhere. Dark clothing and black umbrellas coat the nightlife of Seoul.
Today was exhausting. Y/n hurries through wet streets and rushed crossovers. Normally, the woman would curl up under a blanket on her windowsill at her apartment and let the day melt into a distant memory. Work was exhausting enough not to leave the comfort of her home for the evening. Most of the time, Y/n passed on requests from her friends to go out.
She just got accepted at a new job. The new paycheck would not only cover her rent for the month but also allow her to purchase anything other than items needed for her to survive. For a long time, Y/n has lived from paycheck to paycheck, only buying whatâs really needed. Now - with the new job - she had the luxury of choosing what food to buy instead of living off the cheap cup noodles that hoard the shelves of her kitchen. She could finally get new clothes, as her old ones have washed out their colour or had gotten holes from the usage over time. Y/n had started working at a relatively normal company after she graduated from college. That meant living with minimum wage and also accepting the fact that it would take a while for her to really blossom in the field she worked in. So, Y/n worked at the minimum wage company for about three years. She put her all into everything. That was what got her the new job at a much more fancy company. A company that paid their workers well.
Yet, a new company with higher wage meant more work. So, the first few weeks at her new job were exhausting. Y/n would come home, fall onto her mattress and dose off. Most of the time, she missed hangouts with her friends, family, or her boyfriend.
Y/n met Paul in college. Both of them studied in the same field. So naturally, they quickly bonded. To be honest, Y/n had to help Paul with the studying. The latter had issues with either the material or the class. So study dates turned into nights out at the bar, into rendevous at the restaurant, into slow evenings or mornings at Y/nâs small apartment.
To this day, Y/n thought Paul might have chosen the wrong field to study in. He was the one not getting a job for his rather mediocre grades at the end of college. So, for the longest time, Y/n had to help him out financially, which was hard since Y/n had not much money to spend.
Y/n thought Paul was a nice guy. He did not have many friends in college, and sure, he was a bit weird sometimes. Though, that did not mean that she did not like Paul. He was there when she needed him. Well, sometimes he did have his phone turned off. Mostly on Saturday evenings. Paul told Y/n that he used Saturday nights for his studying. Y/n never really thought about it too much. She was well occupied with either getting better at her job or now keeping up with her new job.
Naturally, Y/n kind of let off her social field around her. Mom and Dad were proud of her, though she hadnât called them in two weeks now. Though that was nearly impossible with the workload she had on her back.
Then there were her friends. Four close friends she made in the capital city of South Korea.
She met Jihyo in the gym near her apartment. The latter is always seen in the weight section, pumping weights almost too much for her 1,50 metre body. Jihyo was slightly buff but also a big hearted person. She quickly helped Y/n get adjusted with her training. At some point, the two started meeting up outside of the gym. Jihyo often showed up with leftovers at Y/nâs doorstep. The Korean made sure that her gym buddy was well fed.
Nayeon bumped into Y/n while getting to work. The coffee spill that Nayeon left on Y/n blouse was a quick laughing matter, which turned into an honest friendship. Both of them now take the same route to work every morning after realising that their work buildings are actually next to each other. With Nayeon Y/n, I always had something to laugh about. The bunny teethed girl laughed at everything, no matter how stupid or simple it was.
Then there was Momo. The chef at a restaurant nearby Y/nâs apartment. The sushi place was known for itâs finesse and quality. Y/n met Momo after seeing her trip over a trash bag in the alleyway behind the restaurant. Y/n quickly rushed over to the clumsy girl and helped her get up. To thank Y/n, Momo invited her to sushi evenings at her apartment. Now, Y/n knew where to go when she wanted the real good taste of Japanese sushi.
The last friend she met in her new company. Minatozaki Sanaâs job was to show Y/n around and introduce her to the new job. They shared an office space and the same humour as both quickly realised. Sana was not only friendly but also super flirty. Y/n felt comfortable around the Japanese woman. They spent almost the entire day together, which made them close friends. Sana would take Y/n out to eat sometimes. Nothing too serious.
Paul, however, did not really like Sana. He had the opinion that Y/n had been spending too much time with Sana. She rarely visited him. Y/n argued that they were just work friends and that he should invest his time into getting a job and not building up jealousy over Y/nâs friends.
Sometimes, the little arguments between Y/n and Paul got a little messy. Y/n was annoyed with Paulâs attitude. He was a bit weird with not having a job and always lounging around instead of getting his life together. On the other hand, he was sweet to Y/n. He sent her flowers and calory low chocolate. Sometimes, he took his time when they had Sex. Y/n never came. She never made it that big of a deal, though. Maybe it was the stress pushing down on her, which did not allow her to relax.
Y/n turned at another crossroad and is now in front of Paulâs apartment. She wanted to surprise him and show up after not meeting up with him for over a week. It is Saturday, which is normally his study time. Y/n just thought he maybe would put away his books and focus on her a little more. Besides, she did not have any other evening where she could meet up with him and not rush to work the next morning.
So, she went inside and upstairs to his door. Y/n had an extra key for his apartment. She opened the door and took off her shoes. The lights were mostly off. Stepping inside, she looked around. There were leftovers on the table and a blown out candle. Weird.
Y/n stepped further inside and made her way to the bedroom. With each step closer to the bedroom, she notices more and more clothes on the ground. Also weird. Even weirder that he had a pink tube top.
Y/n completely stalls in front of his bedroom door. The sounds coming from behind the door were explicit. Moans and the faint sound of skin slapping could be heard through the door. Y/n was pretty sure that the sounds were loud enough for the neighbours to hear.
Tears prickled down her cheek. She did not dare to open the door. She did not want to see what was going on behind it, or rather who the owner of the pink tube top was. She just turned around and marched out the apartment.
Now, everything made sense. Why Paul had his phone off on Saturday nights. Why he sometimes acted so weird. Why he never took time for her when they had sex.
She hated the feeling that now spread inside her chest. The feeling of frustration and emptiness clawed at her heart. A pit formed in her stomach. It felt like she was on a rollercoaster, though the cart that she sat in was just going straight down.
She hurried away from the apartment and onto the streets of Seoul.
࣪ Ë đŚšÂ°â
Sana was watching a studio Ghibli Anime when she heard her doorbell ring. Normally, nobody bothered her at this time of the day. Sometimes, the old lady from across her apartment would show up and hand her baked goods.
That did not happen at 10 pm, though.
Sana got up and walked over to the door. She turned the key and opened the apartment door only to find-
Y/n.
Y/n in a state that concerned her.
âWhatâs wrong? Did you cry?â Sana urged from Y/n. The latter just nodded and crashed into the arms of the Japanese woman. She could still smell the faint Shampoo Sana had used this morning.
Sana gently walked Y/n inside while still keeping her arms around her. She closed the door with her foot and brushed a hand through Y/nâs hair.
âI-i, well Paul. He just-â Y/n almost stuttered as her tears intensified. The tear drops rolled down Y/nâs cheek, and snot was building at her nose. Sana pouted at the sight and quickly got her a tissue.
She let Y/n to the couch and wrapped a blanket around the shaking girl.
âHe used me. I spent so much money on him.â Y/n exclaims sadly while looking utterly defeated. Sana bites her lip. How much she would like to find Paul and cut him into bits and pieces. She always hated him. The snobby attitude and the cry baby that he was. Sana always thought that Y/n deserved better. Hence, the flirting she did with Y/n.
Sana comforts Y/n and tells her how much of a shitty boyfriend Paul was. Though she makes sure to empower Y/n as well.
âYou were too good for him anyway. Imagine him next to me. That little bitch wouldnât keep up with me Sweetheart.â
Sana gently guides Y/n over to her bedroom. âYouâre staying here for the night. Youâre in no condition to leave and be alone right now. Iâm going to get you some clothes to sleep in.â
Sana left Y/n alone in her bedroom. While Y/n curled up on the bed, Sana made her way to Y/nâs phone. She watched the latter type in her password many times. Sana enters the password and blocks Paul. She also deleted his number for good measure.
Sana returns with an oversized shirt and a pair of shorts. Y/n changes into those, while Sana turns around to give her some priavcy. Both of them move into Sanaâs bed and curl up under the covers. Y/n feels Sanaâs arms creep around her waist while slowly closing her eyes. She felt safe and welcome. Sanaâs comfort almost made her forget about the emotions she went through today. As her eyes fell shut and her mind closed off for the day, she felt a small kiss on the crown of her head. A small smile settles on her lips as rain drops hit against the window of Sanaâs bedroom. The sound lulling both into a deep and comfortable sleep.
Story: Sitting there and getting ready is Nayeon's favourite thing. Especially if you're the one taking care of her.
Authors Note: This was kind of requested. Shout out to @zyozyominatozaki for the idea. I've tried some new things with this one. There is no use of the term Y/n. Also, I've used some Korean sentences in this to make it more authentic. I did not use AI to translate, but Pons, a website that is safe to use. If there are any mistakes with those Korean sentences, please let me know so that I can fix it. Other than that, enjoy the read
You didn't think that your application would go this far. To be honest, you didn't think it would go through in the first place. All of this started as a lonely thought on a random Thursday night. What if you applied as a make-up artist at the JYP Company?
You started getting interested in make-up at a young age. The early internet access made it easy to look up youtube tutorials. You would spend hours watching them and trying out the different motives with your moms make-up. Now, almost fifteen years later, you love doing your make-up. It is the best and most calming part of your everyday routine. The strokes of the make-up brush against your skin take you away from the outside world and into the headspace that you need to create the art on your face.
Applying make-up became your way to express yourself during your teenage years. You've tried multiple styles and wore different kinds of make-ups throughout your adutling era.
Your dearest choice for a job would slowly transform into doing something with the talent you acquired in your teenage years. Yet, the job of working as a make-up artist is something your parents weren't too fond of. Of course, they liked your talent and appreciated the passion you had for make-up, but after all, they decided to pressure you into searching for a job that would secure your later life. Something that would pay your bills and keep you away from unemployment.
Now that you have finished high school, you still need to find a job. You did apply to some colleges for some random studies that would guarantee you an office job, but did you want that? A nine to five for the rest of your life.
So, on a random Thursday night, you decided to take matters into your own hand. You applied at a few places, including the JYP Company in South Korea. At that time, you didn't think any of your applications would make it through. But those thoughts completely vanished when the popular company in South Korea actually responded and decided to hire you for real.
And that's how you got into a flight to South Korea, taking your talent and everything you need with you, hoping for a chance at what you can do best.
â
The arrival in Korea was smooth. You got off the plane and went straight to your new apartment, which was actually a bedroom with a bathroom attached to it. But that is all you can afford for now. Tomorrow, your new job as a make-up artist at JYP would start. You're nervous, on the edge even. What if this would not turn out like you imagined? Horrific scenarios spread out in your head.
To settle down with the new part of your life that you started now, you decide to explore the city and take your mind off the stress that has been consuming you ever since you landed in Korea.
The nightlife in Seoul in bustelling. Young adults and even teens wander the streets with easyness. The atmosphere is relaxed. Many small fast food restaurants fill the streets, and the smell of street food fills up your nostrils. The smell takes you to a small shop selling tteokbokki. The few bits of Korean you learned from the moment you got the job at JYP let you order a medium serving. You try your best to talk in Korean, but it does show some difficulties. The whole concept of learning a language with a different alphabet is like climbing a mountain. You have to trust your fairly good language skills to master this.
The job application did not necesserally expect a perfect Korean, but it just felt rude not to know anything of the language when you're living in another country. So you applied for a Korean course near the company after you got the job. Plus, you took an online course that teached you the basics.
The tteokbokki fill your stomach. You eat them while wandering around the streets of Seoul. You still can't believe that this will be your life from now on.
â
"Good morning. Can I see your ID, please?" The woman at the front desk smiles at you. You take out the ID that has been shipped to you beforehand. She scans the ID and then hands it back to you.
"Alright. The ID is now saved in our system. From now on, you just need to hold the ID against the gate to the left. Keep your ID with you at all times. A replacement is expensive. Three missing IDs can result in notice of withdrawal. Please be aware of that. You should be good to go now. Have a nice day."
You return the smile the receptionist gave you and head inside the company. The inside looks clean. White walls, shiny floors, and awards decorate the interior of the JYP Company. You walk past band posters and meeting rooms.
Your first day will be used to get to know your coworkers and get all of the information about the schedule. Your manager scheduled a meeting for this. You only need to find the room for the meeting. Easier said than done. You have absolutely no clue how to get to this room. The manager did e-mail you the room number and the area of the company you need to head to, but the navigation inside the company could use a little upgrade.
You decide to just go for it and walk in one direction, taking turns left and right, and hoping to find the meeting room.
The plan turns out to be a disaster. Now, you're even deeper inside the company without knowing where you actually are. You look around in confusion. Where have you been walking to?
Stress erupts inside you, yet you try your best to calm down at first. Maybe you'll eventually find a way out of this situation. You lean against the wall and decide to look up a plan about the interior. The search for a solution has you so focused that you don't notice someone walking up to you. The person taps your shoulder.
"길ě ěěźě ¨ëě? ëěë댴ęšě?" She asks in Korean. You look up at the woman. She seems familiar. Right, you saw her face on one of the posters when you walked in. The group name was Twice.
Of course, you heard of the group before coming here. They're the nations Girl group, how could you not have heard of Twice? Though the names of the members are unfamiliar to you. You haven't answered the womans question, which results in her asking something else.
"ę´ě°Žěźě¸ě? ě ë§ě ě´í´íě ¨ëě?"
The expression on your face grows more confused. You could only decipher a few things, she said. Something about not understanding. You look around and try to get some Korean words together, but the situation got you so mixed up that you can't even think of any words right now. All you can utter in slight desperation is:
"English?"
The woman gives you a one over and then nods slightly. You sigh in relief and straighten your body, the tense feeling in your shoulders disappearing slowly.
"Do you need help?" The woman asks a third time.
"Yes. Thank you for switching languages." You quickly turn on your phone and show her the e-mail with the room you're supposed to be having your meeting in in 20 minutes.
She nods in return to you, thanking her. Then, she takes a look at the e-mail. Her brows furrow, and she takes a second to understand the content.
"Do you know where the room is? I've been searching for it for a while."
"Yes. You're in the wrong area." She takes all of her skill and the time that she has to explain the way to you. It takes a while until you figure out where to go.
After thanking her for the help and excusing the inconvenience you ask for her name.
"Im Nayeon."
You tell her your name in return and then depart for the meeting room.
The meeting starts right on time, as you managed to arrive on time. The entire meeting is filled with getting to know your job. The information seems easy to understand, but some things need to be kept secret. Throughout the meeting, you can't seem to get your mind of Neyeon, though.
â
Your next day starts early. The company awaits you at 5 am in the morning. On todays programme is a photoshoot connected to the upcoming album "This is for". You arrive at the location and look at the equipment the company gave you. This is definitely something you could work with. The products are expensive. You've never worked with these kinds of products. But they should bring in the best results.
Time after time, the staff members and the girl group members arrive. Some of them look tired, and some of them look excited. They slowly spread out in the green room and take some time to wake up. A few of the members eye you curiously. Apparently, they're not used to new faces.
The first member to approach you is a brown haired woman. Her big brown eyes light up at the sight of you. She smiles and takes a seat in the chair in front of you.
"ěë íě¸ě, ěëĄ ě¤ě ¨ěŁ ? ě ë ěŹëě ëë¤." The woman starts talking to you. The only thing you can get from the sentence is her name, Sana. You smile nervously and nod.
"ěë ěŹë." You greet Sana and take the products in front of you.
Other than the greeting, you keep silent. Partly because you don't know enough Korean to communicate with Sana, and also because you're unsure what to talk about. Sana takes out her phone and checks her socials.
You sort the products and then look at Sana. You try to look for some Korean words to form a question, but the online course you took only provided you with the basics.
"Uh, did you do your skincare this morning?" You ask Sana nervously.
Sana glances up from her phone and looks at you in confusion. The switch to another language took her out quite a bit. You can see the cogs turning in her head as she tries to understand what you asked her and find an answer.
Sitting behind you and Sana on the couch is Nayeon. She overheard your question and saw Sana's language struggle. The uncomfortable silence and the way both of you just look completely lost make the eldest member get up and walk over to both of you.
She gets next to you and repeats the question to Sana, but this time in Korean. Sana's face ligths up. She quickly does some thumbs up and nods virgiously. You smile and place the skincare products away. Then, you turn to Nayeon and thank her. She smiles and waves the situation off with her hand.
"No problem." She responds and heads back to her spot on the couch, which has been stolen by another member. They start bickering behind you as you get to work on Sana's make-up.
â
You finished eight of the nine members. The only member being left is Nayeon. She gets in the seat and smiles at you through the mirror.
"I've done my skincare. You don't need to do that anymore." Nayeon starts the conversation. Her accent is prominent in a few words. You smile back and nod.
"Thanks for letting me know." You respond and get to work.
You start off by using the foundation that matches her skin tone the most. Then you slowly work your way up to the details. Nayeon, as almost all of the members, checks her socials. Though, she occasionally glances at you. Her eyes wander over your face and the clothes you're wearing.
"I like your shirt. Where are you from, by the way?" She asks after a long minute of checking you out.
Heat rises up into your cheeks. Your lips turn into a lopsided smile.
"Thanks." You proceed to tell her about your home country while trying not to stumble over your words. The compliment you received got you quite messed up.
Of course, Nayeon is beautiful, and her presence makes you nervous. You try your best to finish her make-up without making a fool of yourself.
â
Throughout the photoshoot, you stay in reach of the Twice to touch up the make-up on their faces.
Some members stay still while others keep on staring at various parts of your face. The members in question are Sana, Momo, and of course Nayeon. Though Nayeon's gaye seems different. She's been eyeing you up ever since you showed up in the green room today.
Your cheeks have tuned into a constant shade of red while you work with the members. They sure are flirty, and their good looks don't help with loosening the situation.
The photographer tells them to take a quick break. You get up and wander over to the group, taking the different make-up products with you.
The first member you decide to take a look at is Jihyo. The leader smiles at you, which you quickly reprocreate. Her skin is naturally a bit more tan than the others, so you take a while looking for the fitting make-up. After digging through your bag, you find the make-up that you need. You get closer to Jihyo and start applying make-up on various spots on her face.
Jihyo keeps still, but she does occasionally steal glances at your face. Her face focuses on your eyes, your nose, and then your lips. You notice the stare and can't help but get red in the face. The moment is slightly awkward. Jihyo opens her mouth to say something, but before the leader can utter out any word, another member interrupts her.
"I think there is some lipgloss missing on my lips." Nayeon mentions from the side. You turn to face her and glance at her lips. There, indeed, is some lipgloss missing, but it rather looks like someone quickly wiped it from her face.
Nayeon smiles innocently. You nod and turn to Jihyo.
"I think you're good to go."
Jihyo nods and moves away from you. Nayeon immediately takes a seat on the empty chair and looks up at you with a big grin.
You start applying more lipgloss to her lips. Meanwhile, Nayeon keeps on staring at your lips. Not just a little glance like her members do, but a full-on stare. You nervously finish her make-up and wait for her to move so that Tzuyu can take a seat. But Nayeon is not moving.
"Nayeon? I'm done, you can go now."
Nayeon, completely startled by your voice, glances away from your lips.
"What?"
"I said I'm done. You can move now." Nayeon blushes and hastily makes space for Tzuyu, who just scoffs at Nayeons behaviour.
"She is so weird sometimes, you know? I started studying psychology because of her." That comment cracks you up, and you have to hold back from not completely laughing in Tzuyu's face. The youngest member smirks and then relaxes her face for you to work on.
Nayeon, standing on the side, eyes this interaction closely. Her eyes squint as she lets out a scoff. You should fold around her like that.
â
Back at the Twice dorm, the members relax after the exhausting day, filled with preperations for their next comeback, including the photoshoot. Most of the members take off their make-up and get into comfy clothes. They meet in the living room and spread out on the two large couches located in front of the TV.
Jihyo puts on one of the K-dramas she has been watching. Her and a few other members watch the TV and occasionally chat about the events from the day. They quickly stumble across their new make-up artist. Nayeon's ears listen intently as the members comment on your beauty and your skill. She decides to stay silent and hide her expression by checking something on her phone. Tzuyu decides to destroy that.
"Nayeon was definitely struck by her beauty. She would'nt even move away from her."
Nayeon's face lights up at the mention of the interaction the two of you had. Yet, the youngest comment on the situation makes her brows furrow.
"Yah, it wasn't even that bad. I was just admiring her."
"It was bad. You practically pushed me out of the chair only to admire her and drool because of her beauty." Jihyo chimes in with a smirk. She continues to tease Nayeon while paying attention to the K-drama playing on the TV.
Nayeon blushes and waves off the entire teasing session she is getting from her members. But the comment lets her think. Was it really that obvious?
â
You try to do your work, but a certain pair of eyes and their glare make you nervous. You're at one of Twice's music video shoots. The members were supposed to dance to a certain part, but Sana, as clumsy as she is, accidently wiped parts of her costume across her face, resulting in her make-up to smear.
Now you're sitting in front of her, redoing her make-up. It does take quite some time, as her previous make-up had to be removed due to the smear. So, you've been working at her face for ten minutes. In addition, the make-up for this music video was supposed to be detailed.
Sana calmly chats with you as best as she can, switching between Korean and English from time to time. The other members were granted some rest while you fixed up Sana's look. Some of the members took the time to sit down and catch some breath, others went to their stylists and made sure everything was still in place. Everyone was doing something beside Nayeon.
She sat down on one of the chairs granted for the members to relax on during shoots. Her eyes have been on you for the entire time. At first, you did not notice her stare, but it became harder to ignore with how much she had been glaring at you.
The thought of her being mad at you made your stomach turn. Did anything happen that she did not approve? But no matter how much you think about it, you can't come to a solution. Why would she be mad at you?
You're so caught up in your work that you don't notice her glare being directed at Sana and not at you. The other Twice member had been eyeing you for the entire day now. She started that ever since the teasing at the dorm started. Almost like Sana wanted to snatch you away from Nayeon.
You finish Sana's make-up and tell the director and camera man to proceed with the music video. Everything goes smooth until Nayeon trips and in panic holds onto Tzuyu. While trying not to fall, Nayeon also smears parts of her make-up on Tzuyu's clothes.
The members, including the staff, groan. This would mean at least another 20 minutes of waiting until the shooting could be continued.
You take your make-up bag and walk over to Nayeon, who sits on the ground, patiently waiting for you. What you and the others didn't know. The fall wasn't as accidental as it seemed like.
â
You unpack your make-up bag in the green room that has been arranged for Twice. The members sat down in various spots in the green room. Jihyo walks around and tries to talk with every member, leaving no one out.
As she gets to Nayeon, you can feel a shift in their conversation. It's different from the conversations Jihyo had with the other members. Nayeon is not the problem, though. It's the content they're talking about.
You feel Nayeon's gaze shift over to yours from time to time. Jihyo adds to this as she follows Nayeon's gaze. Her eyes express a more sceptical look than Nayeon, though. Meanwhile, Nayeon's look is rather dreamy.
They harshly whisper about something, the chat they're having sounding more and more like an argument. You get quite uncomfortable with the situation, as now the other members notice the conversation between Jihyo and Nayeon as well. The eyes from the members shift on you. The worst part about this. They're arguing in Korean. The words fly out of their mouths so fast that you can't understand what they are saying.
You feel your stomach turn, and your brain plays out the worst things the two members could be saying about you. The pressure rising in the room gets too much for you, so you take your essentials and leave the room.
â
"Nayeon, you know how unprofessional this is. You can't just oogle at her in every chance you get. You've completely ruined the music video shoot today. It took so long to get your make-up back on. This is disturbing our schedule. All I'm asking for is some responsebility from you. Act like you're the oldest." Jihyo snaps at Nayeon as soon as you leave the room. She tried to keep the conversation down to not raise that much attention on her lecture.
Yet, you still noticed the argument and at least figured out that it was about you. Jihyo doesn't know the extent of your knowledge, though. She will have to talk to you later and clear things up with you.
Meanwhile, Nayeon is almost seething. She has never been this embarrassed in her life. All she had was an innocent little crush on you. How bad could that be?
"I'm sorry, okay? I just wanted to be close to her." Nayeon snaps back.
"We noticed. Just for the sake of the schedule, talk to her. Chat her up normally. I bet she'd appreciate that as well. Because we don't have the time for your little romance play." Jihyo responds, and she is right. The comeback is coming closer with every day. They don't have much time to complete everything if she keeps on interrupting everything, just to be close to you.
Nayeon scoffs but eventually nods sheepishly. Maybe talking to you normally and trying to ask you out would help her.
"Good. Now go after her. I bet she thought we were gossiping about her. Poor girl." Jihyo scoots away from Nayeon, offering her some space.
Nayeon takes the advice from her leader and goes after you.
â
Nayeon finds you sitting in a room a few metres away from the green room. You're looking at your phone like something important has decided to show up on your timeline. In reality, you're just distracting yourself from the thought that Jihyo and Nayeon probably talked bad about you. The way Jihyo looked at you was just enough to think that she didn't approve of you in some way.
Nayeon walks over to you. She gives you some time to acknowledge her. Slowly, you raise your head to look at her. She smiles nervously and sits down next to you.
"Hi." Nayeon's voice is inches away from cracking with how nervous she is.
"Hey, look, I'm sorry if I did something wrong -"
Nayeon interrupts you immediately. "You did nothing wrong. I'm just too stupid to find a way to tell you that I've been taking an interest in you." Nayeon blurts this out.
Your eyes widen, and the voice dies down in your throat. This can't be true. The Im Nayeon from Twice likes you. A nervous laugh escapes your mouth. This seems really funny until you see Nayeon's serious face.
"Why are you laughing? I'm not joking. I'm serious."
Nayeon's serious face makes you laugh even more. This situation feels so unreal.
"Yah! Stop laughing!" Nayeon tries to argue, but the laughters also bubble from her.
The tense athmosphere from before fades away. Nayeon and you laugh for a while until the both of you realise that you should probably talk about this.
"Maybe we could go out for a date?" You suggest shyly.
"Of course. I'm down for that. I know a lot of good restaurants around here. I bet Jihyo would appreciate that as well. I've been disturbing the schedule a bit too much." Nayeon jokes, and agian laughters fill the room.
The two of you settle for a date at the end of the week at one of Nayeon's favourite restaurants. You can't wait to get to know her better and see past her idol image.
You have goosebimps. The feeling of nervousness and excitement rush through your body. Today would be different. Different than the other days at the JYP Company. No more training. No more anticipation. Today is the day where JYP will announce the trainees that made it into their newest group, Twice.
Every trainee has been filled with fear from the moment they got up today. Nobody is sure of their chances. Anyone could be part of the new group, and anyone could be sent home today or still linger within the company, waiting and hoping for a debut.
The halls are bustleling. Many people zoom past you to do their chores. The final episode with the announcement of the new group had to be perfect. Within all this chaos, you and other trainees get ready for the show. Make-up, hair-and clothing stylists walk around you to make sure everything looks perfect. Your hands are shivering from the anxiety that is going through you.
Next to you, sitting on another stylists chair is jihyo. She seems to be just as nervous as you are. Though her path to this point was longer and more emotionally draining than yours. She came to the company at eight years old and then took off as a trainee. So many years of hard work and waiting just for this day. You can not imagine what must be going through her mind at this moment.
Jihyo looks straight ahead into the mirror. Her posture is tense, her shoulders are flexed, and her fingers clench around the chair. She takes a good look at herself. All of the years that have passed will surely come to an end now, right? This will be the end of her trainee days and the start of her idol life, right?
Yet nothing is for certain. There was also a plan before this show. Build up and debut the group six mix with her and some other trainees. But the plan got thrown away, and instead, JYP arranged a survivoul show called "Sixteen." By the end of the show, the left-over trainees would be picked for the new group.
Jihyo just prayed that her name would appear in the new group. That she has a spot. If not, all of the years of practice went to waste. Jihyo lets her mind drift. What if she doesn't make it? What would she do then? Is life even worth it if she does not achieve her one and only dreams of being an idol?
She shakes the thoughts from her head and takes a look around the room. The other trainess are just as nervous and as doubtful as she is. Her eyes scan the room and then land on the person in the chair next to her, Y/n. The other girl has been by her side for most of the trainee days.
Both of them met by luck. Jihyo was sorted into a room with Y/n during the trainee days. They quickly became friends and started to form a strong and intimate bond, which both of them protect dearly. Underneath the strong friendship lays a layer of intimacy that most of the trainees would not understand. Comforting each other in the worst moments, always sticking together no matter what, and lastily, sharing hidden and forbidden touches when no one was around.
Sometimes, the pressure was too much. The voices got too loud, and the finish line seemed too far away. in those moments, they turned to each other. Kissing and caressing the troubles away. yet, that would stay a secret that they protect for a lifetime.
Y/n meets Jihyos gaze. It almost immediately softens. A small smile spreads on jihyos face.
"We're going to make it, alright? I believe in both of us. There's nothing that can separate us now." Jihyo whispers to Y/n.
Y/n glances at Jihyo. The words give her some hope, and a small smile also adorns her face. But then again, this is no reassurance. Everything could happen. By any means, Jihyo would immediately get a spot in the new group, as for Y/n, things seem more complicated.
Y/n was never that much of an all-rounder. She is pretty decent at dancing and has good vocals and raps, all right. All of this together doesn't look that bad, but in comparison to the others, Y/n is not a standout. She has nothing much to offer besides nice looks.
This exact problem caused deep scars within her self-esteem. What if the people dont look past the beauty and the looks. What if they view her exactly as that? A pretty girl with nothing more to offer.
You take her hand, hoping the contact would ease the inner turmoil that you're facing. Jihyo squeezes your hand. She's seen this side of you. You've made your insecurities clear with her, and Jihyo has held you through each one of them. She always made sure to be by your side during your worst moments and support you no matter what.
The other people in the changing room dont notice the interaction between the two of you. Such support between trainees is normal. Most of them lean onto each other when the time gets hard.
You only get a minute with Jihyo, as one of the show managers announces that the show will begin in a few moments.
The emotions swirl around your mind. Nows the time you both feared and anticipated for such a long time. Will you make it? Will she make it? Will either of you make it?
-
You line up on the stage. All of the trainees look around, some are smiling, and some others are showing a more reserved face. But, theres one thing that unites them secretly, the anxiety and the will to make it out of this show and into the new girl group.
JYP begins to announce the names of those who have made it into the girl group. Everything feels like a blur. Then, you hear her name.
"Jihyo."
Excitement flows through your body. You look over to her and see the same excitement in her face. She starts to cry and hugs some of the other girls who have already made it into the group.
The announcement goes on, and more spots in the group are revealed. The hope to also be part of the girl group gets smaller each time another name is called. You keep on glancing at Jihyo. She has stopped crying and follows the election with a serious expression. Her gaze meets yours.
'You're going to make it.' She mouths at you. And you try to believe her.
"I have now announced eight members of the new girl group Twice. But, there are still two missing."
JYP glances around the room. His eyes met most of the trainees.
"The ninth member of Twice will be, Momo!" He declares in a serious voice.
Momo, who had been eliminated earlier in the show, looks around in shock. tears immediately fall from her eyes. Other trainees watch the scene with shock. Nobody expected this. Sana and Mina, two Japanese trainees, begin to cry as well. The bond the three japanese trainees formed was ripped due to Momo getting eliminated. Yet, now that Momo is part of Twice, the three of them can come together again and spend seven amazing years together.
The studio quitens down again as JYP begins to announce the final member who will be joining Twice.
"As for the last member, I had to think a lot about this decision. But, after all, I think she will fit perfectly. The last member of Twice will be, Y/n!"
The sound of your name being called lifts a heavy weight from your chest. It only takes a few seconds until you feel a set of arms around you, squeeying and hugging you tightly. Jihyo sobs into your shoulder, and you can't resist the tears that have built in your eyes. The fall from your cheeks and onto her top.
The whole world stops as you and Jihyo hug. You do register the other girls wrapping their arms around you, but the person that matters the most right now is Jihyo. The two of you finally made it. Everything you worked for has helped you to this point of your career. The debut you waited for for so long.
The celebration gets wrapped up after some time. The now members of Twice return to their rooms and begin to pack.
-
Jihyo giggles against your lips. You two haven't stopped kissing since you returned to your room. The excitement and the euphoria are still very present.
"Im so glad we made it." Jihyo whispers before kissing you again. The kiss feels warm and comforting. It's everything you need after this exhausting day.
"Ji, we have to pack our bags. We will leave for the dorm tomorrow. You know how tight our schedule will be once tomorrow arrives."
"I know. Just let me appreciate the moment for now. We can use the time we still have." Jihyo murmurs and trails her kisses down to your neck. Her hand takes yours and leads you to her bed.
A new Twice Tour was just announced. Normally, Jeongyeon likes going on Tour. The memories and getting to see Once from all across the globe would always get her excited. Yet Jeongyeon had one major problem with going on Tour. Her pets.
Normally, Jeongyeon just asked one of her family members to take care of her dogs and cat, but they all jumped off last minute. Momo often took the dogs with her on Tour or gave them to her sister Hana. Well, Jeongyeon had very few options to pick from. Most friends were already busy with other stuff, so they could`nt take care of her babies.
The last resort she had was Y/n. She met the significantly quiter girl a few months ago at work. Y/n started out as one of the managers that took care of the touring and all that stuff. Jeongyeon immediately befriended her and made sure to get her number. She did think that the new manager had a charming side to her. Besides, Y/n told her about the cat that lives on her street and how much she adores animals.
Jeongyeon is very careful when it comes to her pets. She won´t just hand them to some random person and call it a day. No, Jeongyeon needed to make sure that the person who was in charge of her babies would be qualified enough for the work.
After debating with herself for a good while, Jeongyeon came to a conclusion. She decided to reach out to Y/n. What could go wrong?
`Hey there! Are you maybe interested in taking care of my pets for a while while I´m on tour? I have two dogs and one cat. They´re very friendly and just need a person to accompany them while Im gone.`
-
Jeongyeon waited for a while. The series she started just got interesting as her phone informs her that she got a new message.
It´s a response from Y/n.
`Hi! Very nice of you to reach out to me. Of course I´m interested in taking care of your pets. You know I love animals. Just send me your address and all of the stuff I need to know!`
Jeongyeon´s face lights up with a smile. The thought of having someone to take care of her animlas is nice. Now, she doesn´t have to worry about them being in bad hands. Plus, it is Y/n who would take care of her animlas. So, it´s a win/ win situation.
â
The doorbell rings. Y/n nervously fidgets with her fingers as she waits for Jeongyeon to open the door. The two of them decided to meet up for further planning. While glancing around the hallway, the door opens up. Jeongyeon looks cosy in her casual clothes. A warm smile adornes her face.
"Come on in." The warm invite lets Y/n face light up as well.
A cup of coffee waits for Y/n alongside a few cookies. Jeongyeon really tried to make this get-together appealing. The pets that Y/n should be taking care of wait for her at the foot of the table.
Jeongyeon takes a seat and starts explaining all of the stuff that would be important for taking care of the animals. The dog and cat food that Y/n needed to know and the routines the different pets were used to.
Y/n listened carefully and made some notes on what Jeongyeon said. She lastily accepted the little job and thanked Jeongyeon again for the opportunity. She could only do the job, as Y/n did not have to leave for the Tour herself.
Jeongyeon also made sure that the pets were comfortable around Y/n. She let them alone for a few hours and made the pets go through a routine with Y/n. After a few days of getting to know each other for a while, Jeongyeon left for the Tour. She let Y/n stay at her apartment for the while that she would be away.
Y/n took some of her most important things over to Jeongyeon´s apartment. She would leave for work in the morning and return to sleep at Jeongyeon´s apartment in the evening.
â
Y/n´s phone rings. She was just about to make dinner for herself while watching some shitty k-drama. Her hand swiftly picks up the phone and answers the call. Jeongyeon´s voice meets Y/n´s ears.
"Hi, how are you?" Jeongyeon asks. It is a habit of her to call in the evening. She would do that just to make sure that everything is alright and that her pets are doing fine. Jeongyeon, of course, also did that just to hear Y/n´s voice, but she would never admit to that.
"Hey Jeongie, I`m fine. How about you? I heard that the concert was good?" Y/n´s voiv´ce is filled with happiness. She always enjoys the conversations/phone calls with Jeongyeon. The Twice member would always make her feel at ease.
Jeongyeon´s chuckle interrupts the silence. She thinks about the concert that the Twice did yesterday. She didn´t think that Y/n would be watching clips of her concert.
"Did you watch videos to the concert?"
"Yeah. I actually watched a whole livestream. Cannot miss my favourite idol perform." Y/n mindlessly says as she continues cooking her dinner, the phone now on speaker.
Jeongyeon is surprised. She didn´t think Y/n would be this much of a fan.
"I´m your favourite, huh?" The teasing in Jeonyeon´s voice stops Y/n from cooking. She lets out a small laugh and nods to herself.
"Maybe you are. Though Mina is really good as well. Might change my bias."
Jeongyeon immediately prostest, which results in you laughing. She really didn´t like the fact that you would pick another member over her.
The bickering continues for a while as Y/n cooks and Jeongyeon imagines the manager living in her apartment.
"Your pets are okay. They seem normal to me, so no need to worry."
"Thanks for taking care of them for me. You know how much I love these little beasts. I´m still sad that I can´t see them for such a long time."
Jeongyeon takes up a bit of sadness. You can imagine her lying in bed with a frown on her face.
"You know I love animals as much as you do. I would do this every time you ask me to. I love the animals, and I love -"
You stop the sentence before the words reveal your secret. It would be very awkward to have this kind of talk over the phone.
Jeongyeon holds her breath on the other side of the phone. She would do anything for you to finish that sentence and say the words that she needed to hear so desperately. But you don´t. You continue on with talking about her dogs and driving the conversation away from the slip-up.
The call ends after a few minutes of awkward silence and failed attempts to pick up a new topic. Would Jeongyeon be mad? Throw you out of her apartment the second she would be returning home? Never ask you to take care of her lovely animlas again.
You lie down in Jeongyeon´s bed, thinking about the event. Her dogs jump on the bed and cuddle into your side. The action makes you think, and you quickly grab your phone after a few seconds.
Your hands snap a few pictures of you and dogs together in a cuddly position. You send the picture to Jeongyeon with the caption.
"Miss you"
â
Jeongyeon´s breath hitched as soon as she saw the photo and the text you sent her the night before. She never would have guessed that you would send her this type of message after you held back your emotions. She was not sure what to interpret into this situation.
All that came into Jeongyeons mind was to send a photo of herself back. She was still dressed in her pyjamas, and her hair was a mess. Yet the camera makes it look like she is a model, on her way to shoot for a famous magazine.
She sent out the photo while typing down a message to match your behaviour.
"Miss you too. Can´t wait to get back and see you again."
The text sounded corny, and Jeongyeon hated being corny. She just coulnd´t handle flirting with someone like this. If this was even considered flirting. Sure, she could flirt with her members and make goofy comments. But she wasn´t in love with them. It´s something different when she makes these comments with her friends.
Or maybe the word love is used in the wrong context. She dosen´t know if she even loves you. Yes, there are some strong feelings inside of her that come out every time she sees you.
One example could be the first time you two ever spoke. She was mesmarized by the way your voice sounds and couldn´t stop herself from getting lost in your eyes.
Jeongyeon needed closure on this topic. So she would ask the only person who would be capable of helping her.
â
Sana was just about to dry her hair as a knock echoes off her door. She gets up from her chair with a slight pout that only furthers as she sees Jeongyeon.
"What are you doing here? I thought vlogging would start later this day. You know how much i value my time to get ready."
Jeongyeon ignores Sana´s complaints and lets herself in. Her face is quite serious, which is a rare sighting when it comes to Jeongyeon. Sana knows something is up.
-
"So, you like her"
Sana asks while brushing through her now dry hair. That's how long it took for Jeongyeon to open up and explain the situation. Her cheeks tinted to a light red hue. Even now, Jeongyeon is too shy to fully give in to her feelings. Sana notices the silence and glances at the older member through the mirror.
"I won´t tease you for it. You should know that. It´s good that you didn´t tell Nayeon or Jihyo. They would have made fun of you by now. I understand you, Unnie. Liking someone isn´t always easy, but you should not be ashamed of it. Also, I think Y/n likes you too."
Sana casually drops while putting up parts of her hair to create a new hairstyle. Jeongyeon´s head snaps up at Sana´s words.
"You´re sure? Don´t play about this, Sana."
Sana nods and adds some make-up to her face.
"I´m very sure about this. Don´t lose your head about this Jeongyeon. I´m always there for you. Anyway I have got a meeting to attend. Maybe ask her out or something?"
Jeongyeon makes a mental note about asking you out while watching Sana pack her purse and leave the apartment.
â
Jeongyeon takes a lot of time to ponder about this. She spends the night and day thinking about her feelings for you and the signs you send to her.
Meanwhile, the two of you keep in touch. Every evening, you two call for hours, listening to each other's voices.
On the other hand, you also think about Jeongyeon. She is beautiful, charming, and thoughtful. What is there not to like about Jeongyeon. Yet, you are uncertain. Maybe she's just being nice. But then again, this isn't like jeongyeon. She wouldn't act like this with anyone.
Your hand reaches for your phone while more thoughts take over your mind.
â
"What is it? Do you know how late it is in America right now?"
"Yes, now shush." You break off Sana and scoff at her annoyed behaviour. Silence takes over after your sigh.
"If you thought it would be a good idea to call in the middle of the night just to say nothing, then let me break it to you. It's not."
"I think I like Jeongyeon." You blurt out and immediately regret the choice. What if Sana is not the right person for this? Would a conversation with jihyo or nayeon be better?
"My god. You two can't figure it out, right? Why do I have to play Cupid here? Just confess, for heavens' sake." Sana grumbles and hangs up as soon as she stays her point.
Now you're even more confused. "You two?" Jeongyeon likes you back?
â
The days leading up to Jeongyeons return feel like a dread in your stomach. The unwell feeling won't leave you alone. And, even though you now know that Jeongyeon likes you back, you still can't fathom a good confession.
Every thought you try to conjure to the confession only makes the feeling of dread grow within the depths of your stomach. It feels as if the emotion is eating you alive with every moment you commit to Jeongyeon.
You try to keep things as cool as you can, but the consitant calls every evening, and the yearning that has already consumed you makes it hard.
Before you know it its Jeongyeons return to Korea. You decide to keep things calm tonight. There's no need to rush this, right?
The door opens, and her footsteps echo through the hallway. Soft but with determination. The sounds halt, and her eyes fall onto you. It's as if the time freezes and everything around you stands still. There's only you and her in this Universe of unsiad feelings and brewing emotions.
Then, her footsteps get closer. She's in front of you. And then, a hug. A hug that says more than a thousand words. the feeling of her arms keeping you safe, that smell of hers that makes you mind, and stomach spin.
"I've missed you so much." Jeongyeon mutters into your shirt and lets her body relax against yours. This could be a scene out of a K-Drama.
"I've missed you too. More than you know." You try to respond, but Jeongyeons laugh interrupts you.
"Oh, trust me, I know. Sana can't keep her mouth shut."
"So you know?"I know, yes."
A blush spreads onto your cheeks. Well, this is awkward.
Jeongyeon seems to be just as at loss for words as you are. The very awkward moment gets interrupted by Jeongyeons dogs, which now gather around her legs.
"Ah, there you guys are. I've missed you guys as well." She then turns to you. "Thank you again for watching over them. It's been so nice of you."
She leans in and gives your already blushing cheek a small kiss as a thanks. The air gets knocked out of your lungs as she leans back and gives you that sweet smile of hers.
"Maybe you can stay here for another night? I bet you still have some clothes here."

All you can feel is the soft breathing coming from Jihyo's nostrils to your neck. Her head is snuggly fit between your shoulder and your chin. Her left hand rests under your body, while the right hand occasionally tightens on the fabric of your shirt. The sounds that filter through your ears are her soft whimper and a few low exhales.
You can also feel the slight heat of the sun rays that have crept their way into the room. It is apparend that Jihyo didnt properly shut her blinds last evening.
The sounds outside of the room start to rise. There is a squeel or some shouting about breakfast from the other members. Normally you would now start to get up and pray that none of the other girls have noticed your departure from your leader's room. Yet, Jihyo's unconcious body has other thoughts. Her grip on your shirt does not let up, and will probably not consider it in the next minutes.
Your eyes dart around the room and take in the few messy clothes that have been dumped into the corner. This is very unlike Jihyo. Even when she has the ability to rest in her free time, she decides against it. Jihyo usually uses her free time to turn into Bob, the builder, or a cleaning fairy to keep herself up and about.
You decide against trying to get up and turn into Jihyo's side, effectively cuddling into her. Her unconscious mind registers this action, and her arms begin to hold you close. Your eyes now close and relax into the moment.
While falling asleep, you don't register the voice that is now right in front of Jihyo's bedroom and then opens the door.
¤
Jeongyeon makes her way to Y/n's bedroom. She has decided that Y/n has definitely gotten enough sleep now. It's almost midday. Yet, to her surprise, Y/n is not in her bedroom. The sheets are messy, though, so she has to be around somewhere. Jeongyeon slanders around Y/n's room and looks around if she can find her or a trace that might lead to the other member.
But there's no trace of the other member. It's like she just disappeared out of her bed. That's until Jeongyeon picks up the squeal that comes from across the hallway. Nayeon has found something, or rather someone.
Jeongyeon's vision is met with her leader and the missing member Y/n, cuddling, in Jihyo's bed.
This is a sight to see. Slowly, Jeongyeon's hands reach for her phone and open the camera app. This has to be captured. And posted to their social media accounts. Nayeon giggles at the sight of Jeongyeon taking pictures. Her giggles also alarm some of the other members. Momo and Sana, which were only a few feet away, decided to check out the comotion.
After capturing the wholesome sight and successfully posting it to their socials, the members leave Jihyos room and head for their own rooms.
¤
Jihyo awakens with lots of vibration from her phone. It's been a long time since so many messages have made her rise from her sleep. She unwriggles herself from your grasp and reaches for her phone to check out the commotion. Her eyes almost bug out of their sockets as she sees what has been causing her phone to blow up like this.
"Damn it, Jeongyeon," She thinks to herself as she examines the social media post that just popped up on her timeline. The photo of her and you cuddling has already reached a large amount of attention from once. Jihyo scoffs and tries to form revenge in her head. Jeongyeon can not get away with this.
It only takes her a few minutes of cuddling with you until her mind comes to a great revenge plan. Jihyo quickly gets up and heads for jeongyeons room, which is not too far from hers. Slowly, she opens the door and takes a look inside.
As expected, Jeongyeon is not alone in her room. Beside her, equally cuddling as you and Jihyo were, is Nayeon. She has her head on jeongyeons shoulder, while Jeongyeon is doing something on her phone. Jihyo grins at the scenery in front of her and takes out her phone.
Just like Jeongyeon, she takes a picture of the other two members. Jihyo even has to surpress a giggle while slowly closing the door and sneaking back to her room.
Inside, she slips back into her bed, next to you, and prepares a social media post. A small laugh erupts from her throat as she adds she picture of Jeongyeon and Nayeon cuddling. She uploads the post and puts her phone beside her on the bedside table.
You stir at the motion of Jihyo, laying back down and wrapping her arms around you.
"What happened? Is something wrong?" You ask with droopy eyes.
Jihyo shakes her head. "Nothing happened. Go back to sleep."
Just as you close your eyes, you hear Jeongyeon yelling from down the hall.
The birds chirp outside of your window. A slight breeze hushes through your room and hides between cupboards and posters that adore your wall. The breeye is cold and sends a chill down your spine, as it comes out from its hiding spot and crawls over your skin.
You get goosebumps. The hair on your body slowly stands up, and your skin is transforming into a rough pattern, which could be compared to one of a reptile. Autumn has arrived, and just as you open your eyelids to the rather moody day that's awaiting you, your alarm goes off. The tune is the song "1979" by the band "Smashing Pumpkins". Natalie introduced you to them.
You listen to the tunes for a few seconds before turning the alarm off and moving to get up. Right after standing up on your feet, you notice the yelling from the living room. Your parents are having another fight again. Its been the like tenth time they chose to yell at each other since they came back together again. Though, your parents are both in bad, bad places right now. Your mom barely gets the minimum wage, which doesn't really help out the family, and your dad decides to drink away the money you really need. Ever since he got fired, things have been going down.
You slip out of your room and into the bathroom. While getting ready, you listen to the voices of your parents. If the situation wasn't so depressing, your Dad could really get into a metal band with that voice of his.
You decide against using the front door and slip out of the window in your room. Your parents could care less where you go or what you do. They are to busy with fighting and eventually fucking until everything crashes down on them again. Outside of your Trailer waits Natalie. Youve been Neighbours for a while. She showed you around, and you guys eventually ended up in the same friengroup.
Natalie smiles at you and lights a cigarette, which she passes over to you after she takes a drag herself.
"Morning. Theyre still fighting?"
You nod and take a drag from the cigarrete and wait for the stinging feeling in your lungs. Smoking has really helped you cope with everything that has been happening around you lately. You know it's bad for you, but this is the quikest resolve you have found since therapy and medicine are out of your price range.
The both of you take on the walk for school and chat about everything and nothing at the same time. The leaves crunch under your ripped converse, which have been holding on for way too long. Natalie and you always take the walk through the little woods next to the trailer park. The silence and the feeling of being left alone by annoying popular kids is just the best.
As you get closer to the school of Wiskayok, you see more and more cars on the road, driving to the same destination you are having. One of the cars contains two of your soccer teammates. Jackie and Shauna. Shauna looks really concentrated as she tries to make her way to school save. Jackie is not so interested in the road in front of her. She watches herself in the small mirror in Shaunas' car while applying some make-up to her face. Looks like she's been running late this morning.
Jackie seems to notice the feeling of someone watching her. She removes her gaze from the mirror and moves her eyes to detect the person who has been watching her. She quickly comes to an answer as her gaze meets yours. Her eyes widen momentarily before her gaze transforms into something different, something deeper. Jackies eyes carry a certain pull that holds you back from looking away. The look in her eyes recalls way too many memories.
Shauna breaks the moment by asking jackie something. Jackies gaye breaks away from yours and focuses back on shauna and then to the mirror, in which she finishes her make-up. Natalie hasnt noticed the interaction. it's too busy smoking away at the cigarrette.
You try to take your mind off from this interaction and continue walking onto the school grounds. Though you're scared about the glances you'll be receiving from the Taylor girl in the hallway.
/
The hallway is a place where you duck your head and keep to yourself or to your friends. Back then, when your dad lost his job, rumours made their way through the town. You once had a decent life, with decent friends and decent grades. Yet now all of that is overthrown by the image your dads general failure in life has created. You sometimes hate him for that.
Natalie walks beside you. She keeps on talking about kevin, some emo guy she has some kind of romance with. You can not seem to care about that, though. Something else has caught your attention.
Golden locks, perfectly styled. A cute pink top with a jeans jacket thrown over her shoulders. The jeans jacket a familiar piece, normally found in your locker for colder days. A white fluffy skirt that reaches mid thigh. And, of course, perfect make-up. If you had to describe the picture in front of you, you'd have to choose the word perfect. Not because of the general image, your eyes are grazing, no, it's because she is perfect. She was always in your eyes.
Jackie Taylor is perfect, and she knows that. A picture-perfect life, with a perfect family, a perfect boyfriend, perfect friends, and a perfect closet, which not only contains perfect clothes but also a perfect opportunity to hide in. Yet, she would never reveal the last.
Jackies expression is filled with joy. She's laughing about something Shauna said while practically laying in the arms of her boyfriend Jeff. Her other friends stand around her like a guarded union, not letting anyone through that could destroy her perfect facade. But they dont know that you already made it through, through the iron wall and into the heart of the perfect girl. You didn't have to fight anyone. You just took a quiet moment, and then she let you in herself.
Busy with thinking about her, you run into someone, Taissa.
"Look where you're going." She mutters in your face while pushing you away roughly with her shoulder.
Natalie scoffs and takes your left arm.
"You should really watch where you're going. This is like the fifth time you ran into someone. Are you like losing your sense for ballance?"
"Haha, Nat, im just a bit out of it. Sure, nothing else was in that cigarette?" You tease and keep on walking. Walking past the perfect girl, whose eyes immediately land on your form, but not for too long. Wouldn't want anyone to notice.
/
The smell of sweat courses through the Yellowjackets locker room. Training was demanding and hard. Natalie and you always change in one of the more secluded corners of the locker room. Sometimes Laura Lee and Lottie Matthews join you for a little chit-chat, but both practically went missing after practise.
You take off your shirt and rub a towel along your body to rub off the excess sweat that has hidden under your shirt.
While changing, you feel a pair of eyes on your body. You immediately know whose eyes are boring through your body. The hazel eyes quickly avert to the locker in front of her as you turn around to catch her gaze.
One after one, the girls leave the locker room. Natalie, beside you, gets impatient. She taps her foot and starts glaring at you in hopes of you hurrying up.
"Nat, could you stop that? It's like really annoying." You ask her while still taking your sweet time with changing.
"No, because you have the time management of a sloth. Hurry the fuck up. Im still trying to meet up with Kev." Her taps get even more impatient and her eyes seem to transform into a slit with how much she is glaring.
"You know what? Just go ahead. Im not thrid wheeling again with you guys."
Nat only scoffs and dramatically takes her bag.
"Bye Loser." She shouts while leaving the locker room.
You're still in the process of changing as you feel two arms wrap around you from behind. Panic shoots through your body as you quickly turn around to detect the person who decides to hug you.
A giggle echoes through the locker room at your panicked movements. Jackie seems to be laughing her ass with how you've reacted. A frown spread across your face.
"Arent you supposed to talk with the coach? And did you lock the door? Is someone still in here with us?" Your panic gets calmed down by a soft kiss to your lips. The taste of strawberries invades your mouth and brings the butterflies in your stomach to fly around.
"Calm down, Y/n. I made sure no one was in here anymore. Besides, no one wants to stay loner at school than necessary. And no, Coach Scott does not want to see me." Another giggle errupts from the depths of her stomach while she kisses along your face and moves on to your neck.
"Jax -" You try to form a sentence, but Jackies kisses overwhelm you to the point of clouding your brain. She grins against your neck, your resolve loossening further.
She pulls away after a few more kisses and smiles at you.
"You look so beautiful." She huffs out with dazed eyes.
"Im literally covered in sweat." You remind her while wrapping your arms around her and drawing little patterns on her back.
"I said what i said." Jackie smugly decleares.
You scoff at the smug grin that has engraved onto her face and turn around to change into fresh clothes. Jackie sits down on the bench next to you and watches your moves.
"Stop staring, you creep."
Now it's Jackies turn to scoff. She kicks your shin with her foot.
"Hurry up. I dont intend on staying here overnight." She groans and grabs her duffel bag with her soccer gear. You hurry up and meet Jackie outside of the changing rooms. She gives you a short kiss on the lips.
"You know this stays between us, right? I just want to keep you to myself."
"You mean you can not afford beeing seen with me? Jackie, I know what you're looking out for. There is no need to glorify it with me."
Jackies eyes dart away from yours and inspect the nature surrounding the parkinglot youre standing on.
"Jackie, you know you can be honest with me. I know why you want to keep this a secret. Just dont pretend in front of me, okay?"
Jackie nods and now leans in for a longer and more meaningful kiss. You know her struggles, and you definitely understand them. It's not like you're not affected by the homophobia that's surrounding you. That will always be the reason why Jackie and you decided for this relationship to stay secret.
After a kiss, you and Jackie go seperate ways. Her house is in the opposite direction that you're heading for. While walking, you think about the girl with the blond locks. In the end, you dont mind staying her secret. As long as you get to see the real Jackie for who she is and relish what you have.
