I went on a nice morning walk today and it helped a bit to calm down. There's so much going on at work and I feel like in a constant rush, which I don't like but don't know how to stop.

study date with my fiancΓ©e. I swear I haven't dropped out of my PhD program. I'm still late with my qualitative analysis but I started my last quantitative study last month so at least that's happening
this month I'll be presenting my progress in my university. hopefully, I'll figure out the analysis by then. I wanna feel confident enough in it to start working on the paper

Last night's late inspiration. Started writing an article and hopefully I'll make the deadline to submit a first draft for a workshop

i'm overwhelmed. i'm trying to catch up on everything i was supposed to do. i'm late to a couple of things. i'm missing my classes because of things outside uni.
my phd work this year is just rising up to do some things that have to be done, then getting caught up on something not working out and procrastinating again. also, i've gotten sick again last week. ugh.
i don't like how it is. but it's not all bad. i am getting things done. slower. not perfect but i am doing them. i have a whole to do list and i refuse to stay up all night about it.
i think i need to reach out to couple of people regarding some extra activities that were assigned to me even though i didn't ask for them.... we'll see how it all works out
academic dishonesty is not something you can spin as moral lol i do not want to share a career field let alone a social sphere with a bunch of chatgpt using ass bitches
"you're just scared your diploma is going to devalue" i'm afraid you dumb bitches are going to become my colleagues and drag social services to hell
I'm afraid they'll become scientists and data that lives depend on will turn out to be wrong - and people will die.
I'm afraid they'll become engineers and sign off on bridge designs that collapse - and people will die.
I'm afraid they'll become medical professionals who don't know what they're doing - and people will die.
The assumption that academic dishonesty is okay is rooted in the idea that what you're learning to do doesn't matter.
study date w/ myself <3
to all my researchers, students and people in general who love learning: if you don't know this already, i'm about to give you a game changer
connectedpapers
the basic rundown is: you use the search bar to enter a topic, scientific paper name or DOI. the website then offers you a list of papers on the topic, and you choose the one you're looking for/most relevant one. from here, it makes a tree diagram of related papers that are clustered based on topic relatability and colour-coded by time they were produced!
for example: here i search "human B12"
i go ahead and choose the first paper, meaning my graph will be based around it and start from the topics of "b12 levels" and "fraility syndrome"
here is the graph output! you can scroll through all the papers included on the left, and clicking on each one shows you it's position on the chart + will pull up details on the paper on the right hand column (title, authors, citations, abstract/summary and links where the paper can be found)
you get a few free graphs a month before you have to sign up, and i think the free version gives you up to 5 a month. there are paid versions but it really depends how often you need to use this kinda thing.
researchrabbit works similarly. you do need to create an account to use it, but it is completely free (as far as I know), meaning no limits to your collections/graphs.

cafe study date with my girlfriend!! my presentation is tomorrow and all i have to do is to memorize the text. so iβll spend the rest of my day catching up on my notes for this class so that i can put all of the notes into quizlet and make a quizz to do when im on the way and such!! i find that thatβs an easy way to study when im traveling :3

We're starting to approach geese mating season, which has made my commute to work much more dangerous. It's worth it for the in person meetings with my supervisor, who continues to be an absolute gem.

bad pictures from pretty productive days. the one on the left is me now, on a train, working on coding the interviews. the one on the right is from the past week from my favorite library, I managed to work on my presentation there and also did some coding
I finally feel like I'm back. like I can actually do the things now and not just pressure myself to get them done. that's nice. hope it'll last π€
