I've come to hate that phrase. That along with, "It's just hormones," and “[You're/I'm] just being emotional."

But I use them. I think them and say them (about myself) more often than I should. And it hurts because it causes me to feel like my emotions are unimportant, unnecessary, and fake. I feel like I’m excusing myself for something I shouldn't have to.

I've seen a couple ads on youtube for Midol's campaign: No Apologies, Period. When I first watched it, I thought, "I don't struggle with this," and it's "not a huge issue". Now though, I'm realizing that just because I haven't explicitly said the words "I'm sorry" in regards to my period, doesn't mean that I haven't eber apologized for my body and its natural functions. And I can see now that it is a problem because it's damaging my mental health, and I'm not the only one. Those phrases I hate? They're all excuses, knee-jerk apologies, and every time I use them I'm devaluing my own emotions.

So I have work to do. And while I know I will struggle breaking free of this mindset, I also know that this is worth working towards, worth fighting [myself] for.

I have been using tumblr for a while now, and have been dying to post something. So, since school is nearly out, I’m avoiding late work, and I’m too impatient to wait much longer, here I am...

A little bit about me: I’m an artist. And by artist, I mean writer, musician, designer, painter, the whole truck load.

Music wise, I have had 6 years of singing with the Salt Lake Children’s Choir, two years of all percussion (from drums to marimbas, to xylophones and vibraphones, and also marracas) and one year of steel pans. I have been teaching myself guitar, and I am capable of playing the piano. I have composed a few pieces as well.*

I also write on Ao3, but I have no schedule to it, so it’s mainly uncompleted works. I like to read Miraculous Ladybug, DC/Batman (batfam), Marvel, Harry Potter on occasion, and more recently: Tangled/Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. I enjoy reading crossovers too. (not limited to these fandoms)**

When I wrote designer, I meant I want to sew more often (so fashion design), I have been teaching myself hand embroidery (no pattern), and I am an amatuer Interior Designer (as in inexperienced- I’ve only had two semester classes, but I will take more).

I enjoy sketching, and I have a number of past and current art peices I will likely share eventually.
