I’m getting to the point in developing this story where I’m caught between wanting to write it as a novel or go all in on a webcomic, so we’ll see what happens! Kalina flinches and picks anything else to look at besides his face—the tarnished wedding band on his left hand; the silver cane, gripped too tight in his other; the scuffs on his otherwise polished shoes. With all of Mirkhill’s twisted passageways, he must have taken a hidden passage to reach her so quickly. Her knees lock, tremble. Her tongue turns to lead in her mouth. There is no excuse she can muster to avail her, no reason she could give to possibly please him. She forgets why she set out in the first place.
