if it counts, i like putting the 6 (7) total identities of rye/akai/okiya and bourbon/amuro/rei/(scar akai) on a carousel and hitting spin until i get a configuration that's silly and convoluted enough to play with.

i like whiskey trio but not much in an active shipping way, i just think hiro should get to haunt every second to millisecond to nanosecond slice of the narrative. i hope in the beginning of their relationship, every time akam kiss they feel inexplicable and inescapable guilt at the resurfacing image of hiro in both of their minds (i am kidding. kidding! mostly).

5. Out of all your fanworks that include [Akam/Rei], which is your favourite?

akam:

probably this comic! i drew it on a random thursday in one sitting and still like the composition & wording. it's laser-focused on one specific angle of akam which is rei's infinite and forever grief + loneliness and the pitfall he's in which is: he's doomed if he kills akai, and doomed if he doesn't, as long as he can't move past his grief and onto forgiveness. which (within the scope of this) he can't! it's infinite after all.

13. What's a character or ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to some day?

i have two full illustration drafts for utena/anthy that have been collecting dust for almost a year and it haunts me mildly every time i open my files!

this is neither a character nor a ship but occasionally i watch mecha anime just because i really want the chance to draw mechs again without having to design them myself </3.

15. Have you noticed your style change over time?

yes if we count "over time" as every 2 weeks or so!

but to be serious, i don't keep an in-house style just because it's a lot of work and i just do whatever i want everytime i draw something new. i'm often awed by people who keep consistent styles on purpose because it's hard!

in terms of general trends, i think i drew anime guys mildly more realistic this year than i used to ... (LOL) most of my older (bsd) art has a lot of simplifications because i like dazai and chuuya to be really round and cute. my akam is strange because it's a mix of trying to make them round and cute with the style influence of browsing too much pixiv to find food.

17. What's a book, movie, or show you think [Rei] would like?

my honest answer to this is that i think rei is a workaholic who hasn't sat down to read a book or watch a movie for actual fun and relaxation since he was a teenager.

in terms of what he enjoys in-universe my guesses are: (1) classical japanese literature, (2) sunday cooking shows for housewives (he and okiya can bond over this? i'm kidding), (3) a specific children's cartoon perhaps. super sentai? (if he watched with hiro).

in terms of what media he might like if i could introduce it to him... maybe he can mod akai into a fighting game and beat him up on his home console for stress relief. i don't think i have enough media interest overlap with this man for a serious answer! sorry!

22. Give us a headcanon for [Rei]

(unserious) i think he's an angry/horny drunk, but this will never come up because he'll never drink enough in public to reach that point.

(serious) i think he can't forgive himself as much as he can't forgive akai for hiro's death. i like exploiting scar akai as a way for rei to externalize his internalized hatred.

25. What's your least favourite thing [Rei] said or did?

god. i'm just a hater but:
