In my poster i played with the idea that desires are shaped not only by our own personal preferences but also majorly shaped by the media as well. The hand depicts the “reaching out” for objects that we desire. As humans we are never really satisfied with what we have. We always desire something more in life whether it is a tangible or non-tangible item. I cut out images from magazines, of products such as shoes, clothes etc. that i perceive as objects of desire. I specifically used images cut from magazines to show the idea that the media plays a huge part in making consumers desire a product through the way it is advertised.

The picture is made up of two different images that I cropped and pieced together trying to create two new faces by alternating the pieces.

Drawing from the same idea as experiment 2, I used the filter ‘Harris shutter’ to take these photos. I wanted to explore the failure to take a proper photo but with these photos the blurry parts are highlighted by the colours.

Failure of completion. Drawing inspiration from Michael Krebber, this drawing represents the failure to complete the image of a face leaving the audience to question the meaning behind it.

For my first experiment I wanted to explore the idea that the purpose of a box can be changed through one simple step. I wrote on the surface of the box, words that related to its form, shape and purpose. I then soaked the box in water changing its purpose and form. What once was a stable structure changed used to store things turned into a pile of useless paper. For my second experiment I explored the fact that boxes are used as storage units by creating a wallet. I reused a box that was once used to store a particular item and created something that would store another. From this experiment I realised that there are many creative possibilities with the material that we use. For the third experiment I took inspiration from the artist Art is Tra$h by using what others would consider trash to make a piece of art. With different shades of green and reds, I used squares and rectangles to mimic the look of pixels to create the piece which is a watermelon. I repurposed an object and created a piece of art out of it. For my final piece I used the same box from experiment three and incorporated some aspects from the other experiments into the piece. What I did was splash water onto the watermelon which resulted in the ink running. I then wrote the same words from experiment one onto the sides of the box and made sure that the ink ran down the sides of the box. As a result what I created ended up looking like a decomposing box which is what a cardboard box ends up being.
