Darius shook his head before staring at the other. “You’ve always been around Liv, being engaged didn’t change that fact.” he pulled away slightly from her before biting down on his bottom lip. “The girl next door right?” he shrugged his shoulders before nodding his head. “I suppose, doesn’t mean i’m happy about it.” 

Being engaged had changed a lot of things for her, but she already knew he hadn’t felt any different about her. It didn’t do any good to be reminded of that but she smiled widely all the same. “Always.” she said with a small laugh. “Mhm, is that because you thought I’d let you get away with hitting on girls even if we got married? Tough luck, Greengrass. I feel for your new wife.”

“Maybe we should all just hide amongst friends, that way if we do tell secrets, it’s to the people we trust the most,” Lucinda suggested. “But that takes away most of the fun. I want to see someone jump up on a table and profess their undying love for someone they aren’t dating, or something equally dramatic, is that too much to ask?”

“Or, even better, we could hide under our own bed so we have to talk to literally nobody.” she suggested teasingly before a laugh fell through her lips. As long as the person wasn’t herself, Liv would find it funny. “I think with how drunk some people are, you can expect things like that to happen for sure. I don’t want to be horrible and go around asking people about their crushes though, even though I’m very curious.” 

“Honestly, I’m sure whether I should be annoyed or amused at this whole truth serum thing.” Lucinda laughed, partially aware that her openness about her thoughts mean the veritaserum was probably kicking in. “But it’s been a lovely time regardless, don’t you think?”

“The party was definitely spades better than what I expected it to be.” she smiled at the other. “I think this is amusing, but it won’t be if we are forced into talking about things we don’t want to talk about.”

Darius smirked at the other before moving to play with the hem of her shirt. “I think here will do just fine unless you have other motives in place.” he raised an eyebrow at the other before pulling back slightly as he heard the sudden change in tone coming from the other. “You know i didn’t ask for it to change right?” he bit down on his bottom lip as his hand moved to stroke the others face. “I was just getting used to the idea of marrying you.” 

She shrugged her shoulders, her mood having quickly gone downhill. Although she couldn’t not look at up him when she felt his fingers on her cheek, and she let herself lean into his touch. “I never knew with you.” she said softly. “You never really seemed like you were interested.” She gently pushed his hand away, faking a more playful tone. “So it’s a good thing that ended, don’t you think?” 

Darius rolled his eyes before taking the glass off the other. “I can handle my alcohol Liv.” he shook his head as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Though i prefer to be a little bit more creative when taking the,” his eyebrow quirked at her for a moment. “What do you say to bellybutton shots?” he bit down on his bottom lip as his eyes trailed her figure. “Now that isn’t any way to treat your husband is it.” the words fell from his mouth before he could stop himself. “Ugh, Friend sorry.” 

“Then why don’t you prove it.” she cooed before her eyes widened a little at his suggestion. “You are not going to hear me say no to that. Are we doing this in the middle of the party or somewhere a little more private?” she asked teasingly before her face fell at his words. They’ve had way too much fun addressing each other as wife and husband -- it was fun then, but not anymore. Not for her. “It’s whatever. Water under the bridge, right?” she muttered sounding obviously irate. 

“Veritaserum,” he repeated, looking around nervously for a way out. He wasn’t worried about the truth serum until she showed up. “Everyone’s freaking the fuck out, but since I’m an honest-to-a-fault asshole most of the time, I didn’t really give a shit.”

“That’s not good news.” she said with a sigh leaving her lips before she looked up at him curiously. “Most of the time?” she teased. “Does this mean there are secrets you are hiding from me, Barty?” 

“Some jackass put veritaserum in everything. It wasn’t me, though.” 

“Yeah, I imagine you will do something more creative like the draught of living death.” she said with a laugh. “So, does this mean I might have the power to make you spill your deep, dark secrets?”
