The series will feature some of the comic industry’s “Rising Star” Black and Latino artists, such as three-time Glyph award-winning artist Jason Reeves ( 133art); Serena Guerra, colorist of Image comic’s Mice Templar; Geo Devilla, Ashley Woods , Quinn McGowan , Ren McKinzie, and Michael Watson. With coloring by Artist Ghg India (Santosh Kumar Rath), lettering by Jaymes Reed, and editing by Chakira Lane.

Been Sculpting pt.2: Never be satisfied

So, been working on this guy again smile emoticon Found the right gear online and wholesaled it up (kinda). Paragon's going to have accessories (Rifle, canteen, knee pads,& probably a couple dog tags), I'm crazy excited about it. With the clothes right & the gear I moved on to the head, as you can see the sculpting wasn't the greatest. I think I could've passed with it buuuut,fuck that shit I'm trying to compete!

Enter my dude Brandon Perlow, 3D sculptor/super illustrator extraordinaire! We threw a couple ideas back & forth & then he KILLED the final head sculpt (seriously, I was BLOWN AWAY)!!! Had I been satisfied, if I just decided to let my shitty sculpt 'pass' I wouldn't have had the excellent one on its way from the modeler today. So, pro tip: Never be satisfied, follow your dreams, n' buy my shit when it drops(this is my most important advice smile emoticon )!

PAGE 15 (3 PANELS)

 Panel1: wide shot. Bird’s eye view. Sundiata is sitting inside a massive library surrounded by books. Behind him a large corkboard is covered with newspaper articles, notably The last article from at the end of Issue 1. Sundiata is leaning forward in his seat speaking into The speaker of The phone.

MAYOR BRADLEY (from phone): The King trial. I already know what you’re going to say. I understand, and I am doing all I can to reassure all of Los Angeles’ citizens that the city and the police department won’t stand for such disregard for the law.

 SUNDIATA: I fear that members of the police force themselves may not be heeding the call. Just the other night I witnessed two officers accosting a young black man.

 MAYOR  BRADLEY: Let me be clear Sundiata, I appreciate the Tenth Foundation’s help in that shootout situation a few weeks ago. Your policy suggestions not withstanding, my goodwill on that sort of vigilantisim can only go so far.

 SUNDIATA: It was less ‘vigilantism’ and more ‘citizens arrest’ Mr. Mayor. When we first met, you spoke about the end of your term and your compulsion to exercise the city of it's socio- political demons. The formation of the 10th foundation here in the city is proof of that, your influence and political know how has been key. Present necessity dictates that our methods need to evolve, but the idea of you allowing me to serve the people of this community? That hasn't changed.

 MAYOR BRADLEY: I won’t have you or your colleagues interfering with the police. If I have those officers suspended on your say so, people are going to talk. They're already saying I'm old, desperate--it's Farrakhan all over again.

I appreciate the 10th as a resourceful ally, I just prefer that you keep some of its aspects under wraps for now. The public is just getting used to the idea of someone like Paragon.

 Panel2: same as  last panel,  just  a different  angle.

 SUNDIATA: They'll say a lot worse before we're done. 'Honest deeds set against dishonest words' Mr. Mayor, that's what the 10 foundation is in the business of doing. I’m more concerned that if patrol officers’ are not hearing City Hall’s call for discretion, then neither is the Chief of Police. The people of this community have to be able to trust their police. And that’s hard for many to do if they’re acting out of disdain and prejudice for those they are supposed to protect.

 SUNDIATA: it’s all about rebuilding that relationship between the minority community and the police--

 SFX: Knock,  knock.

 SUNDIATA: --Excuse  me for  a  second Mr. Mayor.

 Panel3: we’re behind Sundiata we see a striking, statuesque young woman duck her head into The office. It’s INDIRA.

 INDIRA: We’ve got a problem.

Page Twenty. 

Panel. The second guard pulls out a knife and places the tip under the girls chin, a small  drop of blood drips down the side of the blade. 

Panel. The woman jumps up in shock, the other two guards are trying to hold her back. 

GRD 2. I’M SICK OF PLAYING GAMES WITH YOU PEOPLE. THIS PLACE STINKS SO BAD I CAN FEEL MY STOMACH TURNING. NOW TELL ME WHO THIS PERSON WAS AND WHERE HE WENT AND I WON’T CUT THIS LITTLE BITCH’S THROAT.

Panel. The woman is crying hysterically and clawing at the guards, her son reaches for a knife on the table. 

WOMAN. I DON’T KNOW WHO IT WAS, EVERYTHING HAPPENED SO FAST I COULDN’T GET A LOOK AT HIS FACE. 

Panel. The first guard knocks his hand away, the knife goes flying across the room.  It  stabs the old man in the chest. 

BARNABUS. WHERE DID HE GO? 

Panel  

WOMAN. HE WAS HEADED SOUTH THROUGH THE BLACK FOREST, NOW PLEASE LET MY BABY GO. 

Panel.  After pulling the blade from the girl’s chin the guards exit the bar and head south  through the woods. 

Page Nineteen. 

Panel. All three guards walk over to where the woman and her children are sitting.  They have surrounded the table. 

GRD 3. WELL ISN’T THIS SPECIAL, A WHORE AND HER CHILDREN. 

BOY. MY MOTHER ISN’T A WHORE! 

Panel.  The guard smacks the boy in the mouth knocking him to the floor. 

GRD 3. WATCH YOUR MOUTH, BOY; OR YOUR MOTHER’S GOING TO HAVE ONE LESS MOUTH TO FEED 

Panel. the boy’s  mother falls to his side but she’s too afraid to speak up for him.  The  daughter is crying.   

BARNABUS. THE OLD MAN SAYS YOU WERE IN THE ROOM WHEN MONSIEURGRANVILLE WAS KILLED. 

WOMAN. HE’S WRONG. HE MUST HAVE ME MISTAKEN FOR SOMEONE ELSE.

Page Eighteen.

 Panel.  Three of the Duke Ferdinand’s guards have returned to “the Hole,” the bar where Louie was killed.  

 Panel.  The bar is pretty much empty except for a few patrons, the bar keep and the prostitute who was with Louie.  She’s feeding the young boy and girl.

 Grd 2. This place stinks.

 BARNABUS. Last Night Monsieur GRANVILLE was murdered here. he was a Nobleman under the PROTECTION of Duke Ferdinand. We’ve come for answers.

 Panel.  Everyone in the bar is afraid to move or say a word, they all want to pretend it didn’t happen.

 Grd 3. Please, not everyone speak up at once.

Panel.  The three guards spread out in the bar, they begin to harass the patrons and knock over tables. the old man from earlier is sitting at one of those tables.  he points back towards the darkness of the bar where we know the prostitute is.

 BARNABUS. We’re not LEAVING until we get what we came for.

 BARNABUS. And guess what happens if we DON’T get what we want.

 Grd 2. then None of you will be leaving either!

 Old Man. Why don’t you leave us alone, we didn’t see anything.  But she did, she was in the room with him.

 Panel.  All of the guards stop what they’re doing and focus their attention on the prostitute sitting with her children.

 BARNABUS: COME, GENTLEMAN, IT SEEMS OUR BUSINESS HAS TAKEN US A BIT FURTHER INTO THIS RETCHED HOLE.

So, over the weekend ECBACC posted the full list of 2015 Glyph Award nominations & we found out we were actually nominated for more than one award this year!

'OneNation: Old Druids' was actually nominated for the Rising Star Award Alverne Ball and Jason Reeves, Writers. Lee Moyer and Ari Syahrazad, Artists.

'OneNation: Safehouse' was nominated for the Fan Favorite Award. Jason Reeves, Writer. Samax Amen and Deon De Lange, & Luis Guerrero Artists.

Page Seventeen.

Panel. Virgin moves to the back of the shack, her back is turned to Hania.

VIRGIN: I’M GOING FOR A WALK. I NEED TO CLEAR MY HEAD.

Panel. Hania doesn’t say a word, when he turns around from the fire, Virgin is gone and the door is almost closed behind her

Panel. Virgin is walking the woods; we can see that she is in deep thought.

CAP. I CAN’T BELIEVE I LOST IT LIKE THAT. I ALMOST WASN’T ABLE TO PULL MYSELF BACK. THIS ISN’T WHAT I WANTED TO BECOME.

Panel. Furious with herself, Virgin punches a tree, she damn near cracks it down the middle.

CAP. I’M BECOMING NO BETTER THAN THOSE I SWORE TO HUNT DOWN. I REFUSE TO TURN INTO WHAT I FEARED AS A CHILD.

Panel. Virgin pulls her hand back and it’s splintered from the wood and bleeding. A single tear falls down her face, but we know it isn’t from the wound.
