Nothing is safe.

I'm reading Berlioz's memoirs right now. This passage struck me as profound. Not only does it illustrate his own artistic nature struggling between light and dark, but also that to which every artist can relate.

transition themes - a personal note <3
Howdy. Bear with me, friends. Things are dark this week, and getting darker. Many are confused and frightened and with good cause. There is a goddamn snowflake army out there right now trying to get its shit together to fight against fascist despots. I know sometimes it hurts to feel this deeply. I know it’s difficult to reach out or speak up. Talk to me. Talk to each other. Write. Sing. Recreate yourself through multimedia. Whatever you feel. But I think we are at the point where everything has become political. Everything is because it needs to be right now. We are in an unprecedented state of social transition and our voices matter more now than they ever have. The highest offices of this world are set to be handed over to even fewer rulers with a sea of cronies and underlings to serve them unless we make a lot of noise.

Best Moments: Hosting out of town friends at Halloween.
All the live music shows I went to this year (that I can remember). Looking forward to next year! Saw all the bands that played that day at Lolla/Chicago. FYI, LO stands for Louisville Orchestra. ;)

leave it on loop
Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool is a gothic masterpiece. Bookended by Burn The Witch and True Love Waits, there is a movement from demonization to an acceptance of self, having survived the demons. It is a hermit’s pilgrimage seen from a mirror. Which side are we on as we listen? It is a time piece that chronicles the dark night of the soul, choosing isolation, choosing solitude, choosing to walk in shadow, and discovering all the glorious mysteries of the universe that reside there. It is a reflection of the band’s shapeshifting sound - paying tribute to their previous recordings - while simultaneously glowing as its own lunar tapestry. We dance arm in arm, as always, through darkness pining for more.
