" Annie, don't bad mouth the high holidays. " she ran her hand through the girls hair, in attempt to soothe her daughter. " try to focus on why we fast and not how hungry you are, okay? trust me you'll feel better for it. plus I know grandpa will be very proud of you. "

"Sorry." She quickly apologises. "I think my caffeine withdrawal is kicking in full swing now." Not the greatest excuse but it was the best she could come up with. Annie closes her eyes for a few seconds, whilst she finds herself calming down a little as her mother combs her hair. "You think so?..... How many hours are there to go anyway?"

" no, I'm not mad. just disappointed " she paused for a second, " god when did I become such a mom? "

"You became a mom, when you technically adopted me." She teases a little. "I'm sorry for attempting to sneak out. I know I shouldn't have."

🦇—-;; Bruce looks up from what he was doing on his phone when Annie speaks, curious as to why she wanted to paint his nails, he did have to glance down for a moment at his own hands before he looked up again. "I don't see why not, Annie." He says, smiling at her.

"Great! I'll get the kit from my bag, one sec!" Truth was Annie was bored and had finished her school work for the day and there was still a few hours left before her mother would come and collect her from the Wayne Mansion. So she decided to make up her own fun and practicing her painting skills on her uncle, seemed like the perfect idea. She finds her nail kit at the bottom of her backpack and runs into the room once more. "So, what do you think of glittery purple paint?"

" so whose party were you going to then, hm? and don't try to lie to me, I can tell when you do. "

Annie sighs in defeat, for her mother was right, there was no point in her ever trying to lie, for it was the truth after all. "Penelope's and I really need to go to the party, my social status depends on it and I knew you were going to say 'no' hence why I tried to sneak out... Are you mad?"

" so you aren't trying to sneak out in the middle of the evening when you know very well that you're grounded? "

“Nope! Not at all, just checking to see if the front door locks work.” She nervously chuckles whilst rattling the doorknob for a few seconds. “Yep! They work perfectly!”
