.❀:▹ Iris’ smile faltered into a pout at the mention of their Papa being home late again . He was { { a l w a y s } } late , it seemed like . Even though she had Gladdy , she did miss her Papa a lot .

“ Yeah , okay . I’ll go get the bows ! ” And , just like that , she was smiling again as she scurried deep into the kitchen . She set her bunny on the counter then went to get her { { l i t t l e } } step stool . Once she put it where the bowls were , with a little ‘ oomph ! ’ Iris climbed onto the stool , then onto the counter , where she grabbed the pink , plastic bowl for herself and the green one for Gladdy . Now , getting down was the challenge . She set the bowls on the counter then held her hands out for her big brother .

“ Gladdy , help ! ”

She squealed , before jumping to climb over the back of the couch with all her might . With a soft ‘oomf’ she fell onto the front of it , then stood on it with her sock-covered feet so that she could { { p r e t e n d } } to be as tall as her Papa and big brother !
