Regardless of what your opinion on the game was, I believe there is value to be found in Low and Alone's love for each other.
It's an imperfect, somewhat parassitic affection.
The theme of parasites becoming an integral part of an ecosystem is a rather prevalent one in Little Nights III. Monster Baby has usurped the Necropolis and made it her own; the Supervisor has an ant motif, bugs which swarm the Factory everywhere. The Hypnotist could be himself considered a parasite to the Institute, besides the obvious plant infestation which is slowly killing off all its inhabitants. But out of everyone, Kin and Minikin are the most lampant example of a mutually parasitic relationship. They cannot live one without the other, they are two halves of a whole. One's eyes and the other's legs.
It can easily be inferred that Alone herself is what Minikin is to Kin, to Low. Her whole existance is entirely dependent on his presence in the Nowhere: without him she cannot physically survive on her own. As a creation of the Nowhere, she was intended to serve the purpose of keeping Low there by enticing him with what he's wished for the most, which is companionship, without actually fulfilling that need. Thus her role can only be affirmed if Low himself is likewise dependent on her -- dependant on his loneliness, on being Alone.
And Low DOES depend on Alone. Exponentially so. She's his light in the dark, his reason to move forward, his personified joie de vivre. His happiness means nothing if she cannot be there with him to enjoy it. Hell, the concept of happiness cannot even be achieved even as he's reached his goal because SHE is his happiness. The trap of the Nowhere is thus laid: because while Low does physically make it out, his heart and mind are still with Alone. In the Nowhere. And he will not stop at anything to have her back, not even the threat of having to experience horrific things over and over again.
Hers is a physical need for his presence, while his is an emotional one. Alone herself is not nearly as protective of Low as he seems to be of her and, for a while, she is that idealized version of a person Low wants as a companion. One that supposedly loves him and won't leave him, fulfilling his need for companionship, which unfortunately spirals (HAH!) into a codependent need for each other in order to function.
She keeps him going, but Low is constantly afraid he will lose her. Likewise, Alone wants Low to achieve his goal, but is afraid of what will happen to her once they do reach it.
But do not be fooled. Just because she is not a "real" girl, this does not mean Alone doesn't experience autonomous thoughts and emotions. Because she does.
Her love for him is just as real as his is.
(He was initially the one to pull her in but she flipped them and stunt locked him so he couldn't.)
Because if all she was meant to be is a simple honeyed trap, she would have let him be the hero he attempts to impersonate (with his little cape and whatnot), but she doesn't. Because she, IN HER OWN RIGHT, doesn't want him to be hurt.
She's not just a doll. Not just an object of affection. And the love they share is flawed, it's unhealthy -- because the world put them in a position where her mere existance feeds into Low's unbalanced state of mind -- but it's as real and as transparent as it gets.
