Oh and now I’m thinking what if Derek had anxiety about his dad staying healthy, similar to the thing Stiles has about his dad. Because I imagine Derek’s dad was human and didn’t want the bite. So whenever he would have a cold or something like that, Derek would be like “dad, DAD ARE YOU DYING” and one time he had to go to the hospital for a surgery and Laura had to tell Derek to calm tf down or his hair would be all grey by the time they released dad from the hospital. And maybe, as Derek grew into a teenager, he realized how vulnerable his dad and all the other humans in the pack were. And then it became a huge anxiety thing for him, to keep them safe and healthy. And maybe his dad gave him the same speech that the sheriff gives Stiles about their roles “I’m the dad. You’re the son. I protect you”. And maybe that’s what helps Derek cope after the fire; the fact that his dad was never scared to die. That he stood by Talia’s side no matter what and fought for her cause. His dad would never run and hide. And neither does Stiles’ dad, or Stiles, or Derek.
