writing tip #3547:
write out of order. if you don't have time to restructure it, just let your readers figure out what's going on

Mom side-eyes my efforts. 'Mistakes in the kitchen...' 'Perfection on the shelves,' I finish. Some things never change. I put my practice buns aside to steam later. They'll still taste good.
Jennifer Yen, A Taste for Love
Jennifer Yen, A Taste for Love
📍Yin and Yang Restaurant and Bakery, Los Angeles, CA “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a mother in possession of great wisdom, must be in want—nay, in need—of a daughter who will listen.” --Jennifer Yen, A Taste for Love I love Pride and Prejudice, retellings, Chinese bakeries and the Great British Bake Off, so when I read the synopsis for A Taste for Love, I knew I had to read it. I couldn’t get past the first few chapters before I broke out the bread flour and finally tried making my first Tangzhong loaf.
Once we step outside, nothing’s changed. We’ll still be Bảo Nguyễn and Linh Mai, whose families hate each other.’ ‘But here,’ I counter, arms going around her waist, ‘even if it’s just for a little while, we’re Bảo Nguyễn and Linh Mai, food reviewer and artist. And we’ve made it work for the past few months,’ I try saying.

A Phở Love Story, Loan Le
“My hand rises of its own accord. Linh freezes; her body stills, then my brain yells, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? And my hand goes off course and before I realize it… I pat her shoulder.“
--A Phở Love Story, Loan Le
📍Chơi Ơi, Fountain Valley, CA I was just telling my coworker that dim sum (點心) literally means “to touch the heart” and couldn’t help but think it’s a fitting description A Phở Love Story when I finished reading it. It’s obviously a book about food and love, but it’s also a story about family and community that’s filled with fun and full of heart 🍜💜📚
They were at a peculiar impasse. Neither had mentioned the kiss, as if waiting for the other to be the brave one. The soldier and the Viper. Both could cut and man down without blinking but couldn’t talk about a kiss.
The Tiger at Midnight, Swati Teerdhala
She was his. His to capture or not. And commander, that was also his.

'If I stop chasing you, you’ll disappear anyway. Not much incentive for me to stop,' he said in a low voice. 'I guess.' She smiled at him, and it lit up her face, as if she had swallowed the sun itself. Her fingers stilled but she didn’t deny it.
The Tiger at Midnight, Swati Teerdhala
If only they had met in another world, another life. Instead she found him in this one. Bound by duty and honor, sworn to protect and serve.
