Announcing the first ever Young Royals Remix Exchange!
A remix is an event in which participants create fanworks based on other fanworks within the same fandom. This being a remix exchange means everyone will create something and everyone will get something!
So how exactly will it work?
1) To start, participants will have to sign-up using this form and mention up to three of their own fanworks that they'd like to see remixed. Any kind of creative fanwork is valid (no fandom analysis this time, sorry), as long as it has already been fully posted. It's also possible to mention anything you don't want included in the remix of your fanwork (for example, if you're not comfortable with your fic being turned into a podfic or if you don't want your fanart turned into a mature fic).
Sign-ups will be open from June 2 to June 20.
2) On June 22, 5pm UTC, a list of eligible fanworks (and their creators) will be made available. Participants will choose who they want to remix/gift on a first come, first served basis, and we'll be confirming them throughout the day (more info on that to come in the promtps post). Remaining anonymous to the person you're remixing/gifting is not required, but it is more fun. 😉
3) There will be two check-ins, one on July 19 and the other on August 16. This is to ensure that everything is going smoothly and that no one gets left behind. If anything happens and you need any kind of help to finish your fanwork, or if you need to drop out, you can let us know as soon as possible and we'll try to help in any way we can. But just in case, the check-ins are in place so that we can touch basis with everyone.
4) Posting will happen between September 1-7 (exact days to be assigned after the check-ins). For this event, along with tagging @youngroyals-events like you always do, you will also be tagging the creator of the original fanwork you're remixing. The tag #YRRE2025 can be used, along with any additional necessary tagging or warning.
5) Yes, there will be an AO3 collection, but, as always, including your fanwork in it is not mandatory, and neither is posting on AO3 itself. If you do, however, we strongly encourage you to post your creation as a gift to the creator of the original fanwork and/or to add a link to the original (both things can be done under Associations when posting).
6) For this event, there will be some minimum requirements (no maximum on anything!):
Gif or photo set: 8 gifs/photos without writing or 4 gifs/photos with writing
Fanmix: 6 songs + a cover
Podfic: the full original fic
7) If you'd like to create something, but don't want something of yours remixed (or don't have anything to be remixed yet), you can also choose one of the eligible fanworks to create something extra, with no minimum requirements. Just let us know you're making something and we'll include you in the posting schedule.
