🏳️⚧️ Advice needed from any ftm people, nonbinary people, or any others who wear a chest binder!!!!
Hello!!!!!!! I'm currently in a bit of a dilemma, as I have recently gotten a binder from my friend without my parents knowing. I have come out to my parents asking them to use they/them pronouns for me, and they said they support but they never use my preferred pronouns and still refer to me as a girl. Because of this, I don't feel comfortable or trusting telling them about this binder. The plan is for me to only wear it when by myself, out of the house, at school, or when they arent home. Because if I wore it around them it would definitely be noticeable.
ANYWAYS, main point. How can I properly wash this binder without my parents knowing about it? Often times my mom will do my laundry because she loves cleaning and I tend to forget, so she does see what's in my laundry a lot. I know there's proper care instructions, but I'm not sure how to do this without my mom finding out. You have to either hand wash it or wash it very gently in the washing machine but I will never have that kind of time to myself to wash it in the sink, nor will I have access to detergent in the washroom. It also says air dry it instead of machine drying it but whenever I put stuff in the washing machine, my mom ALWAYS immediately switches it to the dryer before I do. I genuinely don't know how I can wash it without her finding out, especially if it needs special care
I know this is really specific, but absolutely any help and advice is greatly appreciated!!! If you need more info feel free to ask too :-)
