Just some actual daily reminders:
All white people do racist things without being aware they are
All straight people do homophobic things without being aware that they are.
All Cis people do transphobic things without being aware that they are.
All men do sexist things without being aware that they are.
Saying things like âsome menâ, âsome cis peopleâ absolves the blame of individuals and only seeks to comfort those with privilege and power.
When a post says âsome Xâ, the X will always assume that they are not because THEY ARE NOT AWARE.
And most importantly,
Itâs called metonymy, when anyone who is oppressed makes an exasperated statement like âi hate straight peopleâ, they are substituting straight people for the concept of a system and a culture that teaches, incentives, and legitimizes homophobic acts and normalizes homophobic acts so that straight people constantly do homophobic things without realizing it and thatâs really fucking annoying.
And just as important,
The concept of sjws dehumanizes marginalized people and categorizes them as an âangry and emotionalâ stereotype and only adds to the oppression of marginalized people under the guise of being âfairâ, while the only thing you are doing is cushioning privileged people from their own ignorance and privilege.
There sure has been a lot of racism in the media lately. Between the Charleston church shootings, Obama using the N-word on TV to make a point about racism, the Confederate Flag debacle in South Carolina, FOX NewsâŚjust FOX News in general, and now Don Lemon holding up a sign with the N-word on CNN, racism is a hot topicâŚagain! The reality is, it never went anywhere. The quote above, from âA Different Worldâ (Episode âCats In The Cradleâ, from season 5), held very true in 1992 when it aired, and it holds true today in 2015. Racism doesnât seem to be going anywhere. Neither will sexism, homophobia and transphobia. Thatâs society for youâŚ

my opinions on racism will always be limited as Iâm from a position of white privilege, so whilst itâs so important to call out racial inequality and oppression when I see it, itâs also important for me to recognise that my voice should not shout over those who have actually experienced racism and have a far better understanding of how it operates then I ever will

With all my heart I cannot respect people who drink and drive. Because itâs 100% preventable and fucking selfish
Jesus christ, watch the video, itâs heartbreakingâŚ..their medical bills are OVER SIX MILLION DOLLARS. I canât even imagine thisâŚnot doing anything wrong, just get hit by some piece of shit who was driving drunk and suddenly your entire life is ruinedâŚdear god I canât even imagine. This is horrifying and heartbreaking.

Half of my family is INCREDIBLY wealthy, like crazy ass rich⌠When one if my cousins was 19 he was accepted into a fancy ass uni and he spent most of his time partying⌠He decided to drive drunk one night and killed an old woman⌠He ended up in prison for like 18 monthsâŚ. Cash buys good lawyers⌠Anyway, I kept hearing people say things like âthe poor kid, his life just got started, now, after one stupid mistake, heâs going to be judged for it forever! Poor kid!â
