This sucked. Not only was their runner out of gas, but it was out of gas in the middle of nowhere. Honestly, just saying “this sucked” didn’t accurately cover the situation. This was an unfamiliar part of the planet for them. Hell, even if it was familiar, there’s still a chance they wouldn’t have remembered it. It’d been years since they’d ventured this far from T-Bone.

Shamra hopped down from the driver’s seat, kicking at a tire in exasperation. A faintly muttered, “Damn thing,” could be heard by the especially perceptive. Alesha, on the other hand, simply sat up in the passenger seat with a book. It was going to be a long wait after all.

Shamra had thought about just hoofing it to the nearest settlement for some gas, but she wasn’t quite sure how far that was, and she didn’t want to leave the car alone with all of their stuff. Damn bandits will pillage anything left on it’s own for too long. But then she caught sight of someone in the distance.

“Hey!” she called out, waving her hands in the air in an attempt to get their attention. Alesha looked up from her book, irritated.

What are you doing?

“Trying to get his attention.”

Why?

“Maybe he can help.”

Maybe he’s a murderer.

“Shut up, you worry too much.”

But-

“HEEEEEEEEEY!” She was jumping up and down now. “CAN YOU HELP US?!”

Headcanon

[Because of their telepathic and empathetic link, there are actually a lot of subtle behaviors that will occasionally sync up when they’re not paying attention.

Like when they’re walking for a while, their steps will line up. Sometimes when Alesha pulls up her scarf, Shamra’s hand goes up to the same spot. Stuff like that.

They also have the same dream more often than they’d like to admit.]

On “Separating” the Twins

[Thanks to a certain thread, I started thinking about how each of them would handle the other being killed. It’s pretty easy to see that Shamra is definitely the more emotional of the two while Alesha kind of bottles up her feelings, and as similar their reactions would be, that one difference really tells what they would do differently.

If Alesha was killed (or even injured) by something, Shamra would completely lose it. The second she saw Alesha go down, she would go berserk. Lots of simultaneous crying and screaming as she levels the entire area and every living thing there. It’s a very reactive, emotional response fueled by blind anger. Only after her rampage was done would she check on Alesha, and mourn if it were a mortal wound. After that though, she’d probably become really depressed. Anyone she got close to, she would latch on tightly, trying to fill the void in her life now that Alesha was gone.

If Shamra fell though, Alesha’s first instinct would be to get her somewhere safe to make sure she was okay. If it was something she could walk away from, Alesha would get her back to Sanctuary and seek medical attention. But if Shamra died from it, Alesha would be lost. She’d probably just cry over the body for a long time at first. When she calmed down would be when it got grim. She would return to the camp (assuming it was bandits) and slaughter every one of them. It would be cold and unfeeling. Very aware and calculated. She wouldn’t raze the place to the ground like her sister, she would be precise in her vengeance. After all was said and done, she’d probably distance herself from everyone and become a nomad. If she lost Shamra, she would likely not want to form any attachment to anyone ever again.]

Headcanon

[Alesha is extremely sensitive to sound. It’s one of the main reasons she refuses to go to Moxxi’s, as is her dislike of crowds. Whenever she goes in, there’s just so many different stimuli all vying for her attention that it overloads her senses and she needs to go somewhere quiet.

Also, sometimes when Shamra goes there, it all bleeds over into Alesha’s consciousness and she has to ask her sister to leave.]

[I guess I’ll start off with their names then. Alesha’s name means “protected by God” in Arabic, and Shamra means “prepared for battle”. (I really like having meaningful names for my characters)

As for the both of them, they had never shot a gun before getting to Pandora. Marcus taught them how to shoot, and then “persuaded” them to buy near-broken weapons from him. To this day, they still don’t realize they were swindled.]
