So… I’ve been working on something fun lately, and it’s finally ready to share. Meet my newest creation: a chubby little kawaii cat doing the dab — yes, really — turned into a full T-shirt graphic design. 😎🐾✨

If you’ve been here long enough, you know I love mixing soft illustration styles with meme energy. There’s something magical about combining cute simplicity with unapologetic silliness. It creates this perfect blend of “aww” and “lol”—and honestly, the world needs more of that.

✨ Why a Kawaii Cat Dab?

Because why not?

Kawaii art is all about warmth, roundness, and softness. Meme culture is about boldness, humor, and not taking life too seriously. Mixing those two felt like bringing together the cozy and the chaotic—and the result? A tiny cool cat with sunglasses throwing a dab like it’s 2016 and he’s never letting it go.

In illustration, I love characters that look like they have stories. And this one? He’s the type of cat who shows up late to the party, dabs once, and somehow becomes the main event.

✨ Behind the Artwork

The design grew from a simple sketch: a soft, chubby cat with big cheeks and a laid-back vibe. From there, it evolved into a fully polished vector artwork built with:

curved, pillowy linework

expressive, simplified shapes

a warm beige-brown palette that feels cozy and wearable

clean layers optimized for printing (DTG + screen print friendly!)

I designed it specifically for oversized tees—the kind that instantly feel comfy and effortlessly cool.

After finishing the illustration, I created front and back T-shirt layouts and test mockups. Tumblr’s creative community knows this feeling: that moment when the artwork finally sits on the fabric, the colors blend, the shapes feel right, and suddenly… it looks real.

Mockups help the design breathe. They let you imagine someone actually wearing this adorable dab-cat out in the world—maybe to a café, maybe to class, maybe to a chaotic friend hangout.
