like if you take away all of that and look at it as purely a continuation of the films then it still falls flat and dull because none of the same care and love is given to the characters that was there in the previous films. they completely tore up steve's ending, made tony into some new heartbreak reminiscent thing without including any of his characters outside of thor and steve, and they've butchered thor's whole thing trying to reclaim some love for him after the mess that was love and thunder

there's just nothing in it that feels human or like it sees the characters as actual characters people love instead of just cameo money-makers. i know the mcu isn't always a complete reflection of the comics and takes creative liberties - that are sometimes good and bad - but you can look at it as its own universe/canon, and this movie just feels so deeply offensive to the mcu and what's been built within in it.

but do u hv to earn the lantern ring ?? is that a thing ?? i thought it was just like appointed to you and then it was like urs to deal with or whatever. but the trailer for the lantern show made it sound like u had to earn it or something and i didnt think that was a thing.

also how old are all of the lanterns cause i thought kyle was like late teens early 20s but ive seen people pairing him with others that i didnt think hed like know like that. and hal is like 30s, maybe depressed late 20s in my mind but is that not true either??

superhero exhaustion or whatever the term is isn't like an inevitable thing. it only becomes a thing when you're constantly pushing these wide-scale events that incooperate a bunch of different movies and characters and expect people to feel any interest in when you haven't given them enough time to attach themselves to these characters or build up excitement and intrigue for this new crossover movie.

i just don't understand how the mcu went from this decade long triumph of movies that ended brilliantly with a good fucking payoff to doomsday, which is inevitably Not gonna be good or the infinity war contender they're clearly hoping it will be

people just aren't attached to any of the new characters as much as they were with the older ones because they haven't been given enough time to get attached. no one's gonna feel the grief they felt over gamora or natasha dying for the soul(?) stone the same way they might if ava dies, at most they'll feel some form of wasted potential because they haven't been given enough to latch onto her and see her life outside of either being the anti-hero in ant man & the wasp or a member in a singular team movie. the characters that are gonna have the most impact on the audience are ones given that development and time like bucky or sam or even yelena, everyone else is just gonna be considered a waste if they die because none of them have been given the chance to tell a story.

idk man, this is like half a rant and half a ramble but it's just frustrating seeing how blatanly the russo's are trying to profit off of the same hype endgame and infinity war drew in with not even half the effort. no one needs to see rdj as doom, or see chris evans as captain america or even any of the x-men characters from the movies. i'm not gonna be sitting in a cinema clapping and hollering every time charles xavier is on my screen just because he's being played by patrick stewart.
