I have been experimenting with trying to focus on other sensory impressions to see if it can form a sensory floor for me that may reduce my Compulsive Behaviours (Subclinical) but it turns out most sensory impressions that appear at you from the world outside your control are veeeery incrementally irritating and overwhelming or even somehow frightening if you are paying too much attention to them which might explain something in some way
