The Cranoceros is a large quadrupedal species inhabiting the marshy plains and humid forests of the planet Lopotamiar.
A huge thank to @halann-dee for this commission, which brings a beautiful representation of this species from my universe and makes it feel even more real.

Its anatomy combines a slender skeletal structure with soft, glossy external tissues, traversed by fine translucent veins. The back is dominated by a thick spiral mineralized structure, a true multifunctional dorsal organ. This hollow, shell-like mass stores absorbed water, concentrates liquid nutrient reserves, and feeds a network of secretory glands producing a dense mucus that protects the skin against dehydration and microorganisms. The body surface often displays diffuse pigmentation in soft, luminous tones, varying according to diet and the mineral composition of the environment.
The head is extended by two large branched outgrowths, known as āantlers,ā made of a composite organo-mineral material that also forms the shell structure. Each branch indicates the individualās age, ranging from 20ā30 years in the wild to 50ā60 years in captivity; the current record is 71 years. Their growth depends directly on the individualās physiological status and accumulated resources. These structures serve as weapons during seasonal confrontations, but also as tools for moving loose soil or clearing dense vegetation.
At the front of the mouth, two flexible prehensile appendages allow the animal to grasp and tear the leaves it feeds on. Feeding relies on a double-opposed radula-like oral apparatus: two opposing denticulated scraping surfaces operate in inverse rotational motion, breaking down plant matter before slow digestion through internal fermentation.
The species exhibits a sequential hermaphroditic reproductive system dependent on seasonal hierarchy. Outside the breeding period, all individuals possess a neutral reproductive potential. As the wet season approaches, individuals developing the largest and most robust antlers enter a dominant hormonal phase and become functionally male. The others, after a fighting insemination, temporarily adopt a female role. Ritual combat consists of horizontal head thrusts directed toward the opponentās sexual organ, located at the end of the jaw. After fertilization, the eggs migrate to a semi-transparent cervical membrane along the neck, forming an external incubatory pouch where embryos are visible through the skin. When development reaches an advanced stage, the individual digs a deep burrow using its antlers and forelimbs. The eggs are deposited in a moist chamber lined with protective mucus that maintains constant hydration until hatching.

ā¢ The ālittle shproutā: the most common and smallest of the shprouts, standing 1.5 meters tall for both males and females. It belongs to the āwhistlingā* races, lives mainly in rural areas, and appears to be in the early stages of its āIron Ageā
ā¢ The ālittle civilianā or city shprout: a talking breed that has retained features more typical of primitive races, such as a nearly non-existent neck and a tuft of hair on top of a narrow skull (though individuals with more āmodernā skulls have been observed without this being considered a deformity)
They are among the most collorfull variety among their peers
(two city shprouts with both presenting a bigger skull than the majority of their species )
ā¢ The toad-shprout: a reference to one of its many unique characteristics, large, deep-green pustules on the back and outer legs giving them a toad-like appearance;They also have very thick eyelashes and fringes at the base of their fists, a trait much more commonly found among their very distant cousins, the Ploktavians (Carnifex modularis).It is the second-largest shprout, with an average height of 1.75 meters.These characteristics have long been the subject of discrimination among other Akrillian bipeds, which has driven the population of these large shprouts to near extinction; they now live in ātribesā of 15ā20 individuals in isolated corners of the archipelago and avoid all contact with bipeds of any kind.

Ploktavian's most complete skeleton (yet)
this is the most complete skeleton i got yet for our friend the Ploktavian ! [carnifex modularis]
A Ploktavian has about 213 bones this number is due to their auditory apparatus is separated from two different bones, unlike in humans where it is one. They also possess specialized bones for controlling and launching their limbs (look for "lymphbones" in the diagram, further documents on these specific organs are planned for the future).

Other quadrupede friends of Akrillic
Burmi, the akrilian working dog
They're small non-strict carnivores that where recently domesticated by shprouts of all kinds, mostly by farmers and are the second most popular pet just after the Orson (a terrestrial arthropod)
The shape of their exoskull vary a lot and moslty depend on their hormonal cycles, the horns on it (two sides horns, one on the top and the plate at the back of the skull) grow their whole life and are specialised for defence and dig in sand or dirt..
The Takins or "Veiled Agathes" are a far cousin of the Burmi.

They aren't domesticated but love to live in the company of pastures and take advantage of the fact that domestic herds are protected to avoid predators.
The four great quadrupeds of Akrillic
Despite its size for an island, Akrillic has a very wide variety of vertebrates, insects, and mollusks of all kinds.
In this post, you can take a look at the largest animal specimens on the island, the four large quadrupeds:
THE CAMELHORSE :
The camelhorse: The most common and used as a mount, it is also bred for its leather and meat, which is renowned for being tender despite being fatty.
It is the most common of the four on the island, with an estimated population of a few thousand. It can be found in both the north and south, filling the plains and local farms.
YHE WOLLYHORSE:
The Wollyhorse: it is raised by coastal peoples for its thick wool and naturally salty meat, as it is raised in large salt marshes.
It is affectionate and can be kept with other species such as the Camelhorse in the same enclosure without any problems.
THE HAMERHEAD :
The Hamerhead: The fastest of the quartes, it is therefore used as a mount by warriors and hunters.

NEWS ABOUT MODULARIS (my comic)
Sorry for having this acc pretty vacant, this blog is still used but some modifications would be needed since some points of the canon changed.
The comic is doing well, i am currenlty at pages 35-36 out of 41 planned ! For the moment the finish date is planned for January 2026 !
Id love to make it finished for the 13th of December 2025 to coĆÆncidence it for my second birthday in the fandom but i wanna take precautions

This might interest to any Plok fans, in 2020 I brought a Spanish Magazine called "Retrogamer" and scanned the pages (Sorry for the bad quality, I am not the best scan guy, specially not 5 years ago) Some interesting things are the mention of a Plok animation of 30 seconds that was lost in time, also an old map of Akrillic. I don't have a scan with me anymore but I tried to take better photos of those two things with the phone.

shapes and divesrity
Shprouts aren't always seen with the same shapes or sizes, like Ploktavians or any other creatures, they know many subspecies and variant of thems
The two oldest species (personaly) named

It's the most knew and the smallest Shprout subspecie knew for now, they can be agressive and their civilisation level is still unsure

Concidered as "the uglyest shprout subspecie" toads-sprouths are the second oldest and taller of their kind,They are one of the most singular subspecies with their noticable pimples all across their body (it appears at puberty) their pink hair and thicc eyelashes.
Toads-sprouths share what we call a "cone skull" (so a more pointy skull structure) with their closer cousins the Common-shprout, the most present and famous subspecie of all

Sexual dimorphism with Ploktavians
the two species presented are the two most common branches documented today, they are compatible and their offspring are not considered hybrids because they are themselves fertile.
Even if they look different, they're not that far apart, but their natural geographic areas are not the same and these two species only cross paths in the event of mass migration.
Every Ploktavian has an unique pattern on thems, a huge light spot that starts from the torso and goes down to the bottom of the pelvis.

Ploktavians distinguish their families thanks to their paterns, genetically close individuals have more similar patterns

Hamerheads are the most popular mounts among soldiers and hunters for his streght and swifteness
The hamerhead is the most difficult to tame due of his sportive and rought behavior among the quadrupeds of Poly esta, but always worth the efforts.
In Akrillic we moslty say that the only thing more dangerous than a Ploktavian, is a Ploktavian on a hamerhead
