He hadn’t come with anyone today, deciding to wander the festival on his own and take his time looking around and enjoying himself. It was one he rather liked, all the smells and the sounds of people mingling about, there was something about it that made him feel calm. Though, he certainly kept his wand near, and his guards up, because you never quite know what to expect.
Severus looked over his shoulder, unable to help the small smile he flashed her. It was always nice to see a friend, but this one in particular was one that had always confused him. With everything he’d been through, and had done, Severus was surprised she still came around. He was damn lucky, if he was being honest, he still had any friends left at all on the other side of things.
“I won’t say no to that,” Severus agreed, indeed taking the extra cream Lily had suggested. Stepping out of the way of the other patrons, he took a sip, relishing in the warm flavor on his tongue. “Thanks for the tip. Are you meeting anyone or…I could keep you company, if you’d like?” He said hesitantly.
❝ and THAT my dear severus , is why you are wise beyond your years . because you willingly choose to take my advice and well , that makes you very well equipped for life . ❞ the petite girl continued , her warm smile only growing as she too received a treat of her own to craddle as she walked through the festivities . lily took a quick sip , facing him just in time to see the satisfying reaction he had to her concoction which only made her hues twinkle in earnest .
❝ i’ve become something of a connoisseur when it comes to the finer things in life , it’s my lifes mission to share my secrets with a few deserving few . sev , what better company could a girl as for than an old friend ? tell me things , i haven’t seen you in a bit , what have you been up to ? ❞
her words were sincere , almost to a fault because she had indeed missed her friend and was eager to hear how he’d been since she’d dove head first into her work rather than tended to the fragile comings and goings of those that mattered most to her . she feared , and with good reason , that her friend might be dancing too close to the proverbial edge and try as she might , she still hadn’t managed to rope him back into safety , now mainly due to her own negligence . rather than let the guilt shake her core , she settled for slipping her arm through his and gently tugging him along so they could enjoy the evening free of worldly issues .
