While his parents were going to the Summer Gala as well, James didnât travel with them but rather went by Lilyâs apartment so that they could turn up together. He was wearing a light grey three-piece suit, something a bit more modern and more muggle than the usual wizarding fashion in part to separate himself from those purebloods who thought it distasteful to embrace muggle inventions. His tie, however (also a plain grey one) was in his hand rather than around his neck, ready to be charmed to match Lilyâs outfit. âHi!â He said when the door opened, face cracking into a smile despite the fact that he didnât really want to go to this stupid gala. âYou look great. Are you more or less ready? I just have toâŚâ he held up the tie in explanation. âAnd do you have any of those muggle fizzy can drink things? The ones that go everywhere if you shake them before you open them? I want to borrow a couple.â
âž
When Lily heard the knock at the door she was forced to hobble across the floor, one heel affixed to her left foot, the other yet to be found. Lily checked through the peephole first before opening the door for her fiance, only to proceed with her search. âHi!â She shouted from behind her couch now, taking a peep there. It was then she sighed, remembering there was an easier way. âAccio shoe!â. And just like that it came wizzing out from under the couch. Sometimes, the years of muggle in her would have Lily forgetting what she was capable of. âAlmost there.â Lily held up the heel in victory, having to sit down to get past the billowing light blue folds of her dress to put it on. Looking up as she buckled it, Lily really looked at James for the first time, immediately breaking into a smirk upon seeing him standing there with the tie in hand. âA muggle fizzy... coco-cola? And for what absurd reason do you need that for a gala?â Lily stood and walked closer to her date, reaching out for the tie so she could fling it around Jamesâs neck and begin tying it herself.Â

This entire place was just on the edge of familiar, skirting and dancing around in steps half-forgotten behind the shadowed curtain of memory. It wasnât the first time tonight Sirius had felt this odd nostalgia for a life unlived and it didnât look like it was going to be the last time either. To say the sensation of it was frustrating was, frankly, far too simple but there werenât any better words leaping forward and so it would have to do, consequences of it all be damned. Sometimes, Sirius thought ruefully, things just had to be damned if you wanted to survive them. Though, of course, that thought did fuck-all to make this whole thing more bearable, Sirius added as anger colored those words red. He leaned over, whispering quietly as so not to be heard over the music, âI donât suppose youâve got the slightest damn idea of how to make this whole farce even slightly less painful, yeah?â
âWell, Iâm fairly certain how we always do.â Lily pulled the glass to her lips, tipping its tail up over its rim so whatever was left would be drank within seconds. With a soft âahhâ, Lily let the overwhelmingly sweet but refreshing punch wash over her but it did nothing to ease the tension she was feeling from being around so many people. She had found herself becoming more cautious by the month, fully living with the understanding that there were people in this world who wish she were not. Some of them most certainly at the Gala now. Her usual efforts to get a sense for everyone in a room when she entered could not be achieved tonight. If she truly wanted to proceed with an abundance of caution, she probably shouldnât have been drinking at all, however one more might just do the trick in taking the edge off. âNow how about another round?âÂ
Is that LILY EVANS stepping out into Diagon Alley? Ministry records tell us that they were born on JANUARY 30 and are a 18 year old, MUGGLEBORN who works as a CURSE BREAKER IN TRAINING. Some have said that they can be described as being MAGNANIMOUS, VIVACIOUS & INTELLIGENT however, they also see themselves as being SUSPICIOUS, DEFENSIVE & DOGMATIC. Apparently, SHE look(s) a lot like SOPHIE SKELTON, whoever that is, and if they had to pick a side in the war, they would choose to JOIN THE ORDER.

Key information / Biography
History // On a journey to the past
1// The day she discovered magic and met Severus Snape Lily always felt like she was different. It did not bother her to be different than others, but as someone who enjoyed knowing the answer to something, it simply irked her that she could never place where that difference came from. It was Petunia who first began her worry, a lover of normalcy her sister was unafraid to point out whenever Lily was acting strange or explainable. For a long while Lily battled with her feeling of difference, trying to embrace the sensation she so loved and please the sister she adored. Meeting Severus seemed to offer her the answer to her problems as she finally had a meaning behind what her sister figured was madness, and someone to explain what she could not. Her first thought upon discovering she possessed magical abilities was that she could now explain to Petunia what was happening and she would finally understand. When the news was broken to her older sister however, things only worsened. Suspicions confirmed, Petunia wanted nothing to do with the world she could not be a part of. Lily could not turn her back on this new to simply please her sister, and so began her close friendship with Severus Snape. This was the first time her difference felt celebrated, understood, and encouraged, and for that Lily was infinitely grateful to have him as a friend.
2// The first trip to Diagon Alley It was one thing to hear about the almost unimaginable marvels of the wizarding world thanks to Severus, but seeing them was something beyond. Lily took the trip with Severus, not wanting to further upset Petunia by going with her parents. The moment the bricks moved aside, an audible gasp left her lips and hardly a word was uttered for the next few minutes as she continued down the street taking in the sights. Each funny hat, strange flying broom, bubbling cauldron and talking painting amazed her more than the last thing she saw. Once she had finally taken it in, Lily had no shame in asking each shopkeeper what nearly everything she saw was. While she was far too young to understand most of the things she saw, Lily vowed then to learn it all. Never had the world felt so large, filled with so many opportunities. If Lily had been curious before, this had heightened it to unparalleled levels she would spend her Hogwarts years trying to satiate.
3// Â The first potions class. Lily had always disliked baking. There was something so boring about being told exactly what to do, dumping ingredients into a bowl and staring at the oven while you waited. Thatâs what she had expected Potions to be like for her, a list of ingredients to be mixed together. How boring was that? How quickly she was proved wrong when Slughorn first spoke to them that day and she first put ingredients into a cauldron. The advanced Potions he spoke of sparked her interest the most, bottled luck and love and death all at her touch. How interesting to bottle power like that. It enticed her and haunted her slightly, but she could not wait to be able to achieve such a feat. More than that, Lily quickly found that there was a certain understanding to Potion making beyond what a book said. Even in her first class, Lily found herself adjusting the temperature of her fire, stirring at different paces, as if the potion was telling her to. It was her first class at Hogwarts and her favorite.
4// The Un-Returned letters Lily loved to write, almost so furiously sometimes that she would break a quill with her excited fast script. This happened more than once a month perhaps because she wrote letters so often. They were always letters home, some to her parents and many to Petunia. At first she held nothing back, wanting to share the experience with her sister and excite her for what they could do together once Lily returned from break. Lily thinks back to her first year now and wonders if that had been a mistake, writing those letters full of excitement and wonder that Petunia would never see. If the picture Lily painted was too vivid and drove her away more. Because those letters were never returned. Not once her first year did she see an Owl come in with a letter from her sister. She looked every day, eyes peeled for her fluffy brown owl to swoop over her breakfast and brighten her day. Lily kept on hoping, thinking it would come, but by her first train ride home, it was clear. Petunia wanted nothing to do with Lily. Try as she might, Petunia did not want to talk to the freak. That did not stop Lily from writing the letters, knowing Petunia had it in her to be the kind girl she had once looked up to. She would come around to it, and Lily wouldnât give up.
5// The Famous Fifth Year Row The word still echoes in her brain, the dirtiest, most foul word there could possibly be. Mudblood. It started like every time James the arrogant bullying toerag Potter opened his mouth and Lily had enough. So what if she was different, if Snape was different than the other Wizards and Witches around them? They could be different together as they always had been and Lily wanted everybody to know that, especially James and his gaggle of goons. Bullying would not be tolerated, and people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and hair grease should be appreciated. Never did she think Snape would not share these thoughts and instead further distance himself from her in the worst way possible. Lily didnât quite believe it when he first uttered that profanity, a heart breaking moment of silence to follow. But his words could not be mistaken for anything else, they could not be forgiven. Dead. Dead to me, was her first thought then, not another word spoken to him until Severus approached her about it. She hardly could contain the anger enough to speak, but she did, each biting word hoping he would answer her question in the right way. Are you joining them? Yes. An answer she would spend the summer agonizing over, attempting to understand. How could anybody believe the words they spun, the beliefs they preached? How could Severus get swept up into this and forget the years they shared, the understanding they had? She wonât ask him these questions however, not daring to speak to somebody who disrespected her so. A part of her still blames James, the whole altercation starting with his nasty words. Excluding Remus, Lily distances herself from everybody that participated in that day, harboring a grudge against them all. There was no kindness that day no matter how hard she looked, she was sure of it.
He wasnât in a mood for fighting, given the aching joints and hazy memory leading up to deciding the Leaky Cauldron was the best location to avoid his mother. She hadnât done anything overly annoying, simply having offered tea for the second time and his not wanting to be nagged into pretending he was in a better mood. âGood to know,â He murmured then picked up the package in front of him, gingerly taking a moment to pull the biscuit from it. âI should have shown up at your place.â The statement was accompanied by his eagerly taking a bite from it. Lily knew him all too well when it came to little ways of cheering him up. âForgive me for saying it,â He scrunched his nose up in thought then set the biscuit down, attention properly settling on Lily. âBut I think I am going to need a bit of a better idea about what I would be signing up for.â
âž
âI wouldnât have been there anyway.â Truthfully Lily was rarely home these days. Between work and her friends, and of course James, there seemed hardly any time left for lounging about her apartment. Usually a proponent of a tidy home, the clothes strewn over her floor and dried tea bags in mugs on her desk painted a different picture. âBut Iâm glad you still made it here.â Lily reached over to grab a biscuit for herself, unable to partake in a sweet treat when it was placed in front of her, no matter the mood. Pausing for a minute, Lily reached into her bag and pulled out a ripped piece of scroll with a few potions ingredients scribbled across it in her handwriting. âWeâve tried it before, and I know it didnât help much, but I think I can make it better. With these.â Lily spoke cryptically, not knowing who would be listening, but knowing Remus would infer she spoke of Woflsbane.
âHello, love.â James leaned in for a chaste kiss in greeting and as he pulled back again, his lips parted in a smile. That was fairly normal for him when Lily was around, because he had been well and truly smitten for years and still couldnât believe his luck that she liked him back these days. âDo you hear that?â he asked, pausing for a moment to relish in the quiet around them, though James had never been very good at letting things stay quiet for very long. âWhen was the last time it was just the two of us? I was starting to consider bunking off work and escaping somewhere with no responsibilities for a few days.â Not that he ever actually would, because as much as James liked to complain about not liking being responsible, he had been taking it quite seriously since even his sixth year of Hogwarts. The world was in too serious a mess for that. âDid you have a good day?â
âž
âAnd hello to you.â Lily tipped her head back in anticipation of the gentle peck, which was their usual form of kissing these past few weeks. Who thought life would just keep getting busier after school? The only thing that had not changed was the beaming smile they exchanged on seeing each other. In the pause, Lily listened intently, nervous that James had picked up on something she hadnât. It took a few moments to realize she was just on edge, and had taken the playful comment the wrong way. Shoulders dropping, letting herself relax, a quiet chuckle rolled off her lips. âI think about it every day. Practically every minute at this point.â Lilyâs response was whispered, preserving the quiet for a moment more. She stole another kiss as she leaned over to pick up her first evening glass of wine. âIt was alright. The usual. They had me reading old ruins for hours on end. Pretty sure Iâll need my reading glasses updated soon.â Lily sunk back into her couch, having taken the moment waiting for James to actually enjoy her apartment. âAnd how was yours?â

kingsley was looking over a new volume of charms when he heard a familiar voice that made him look up. âlily?â kingsley asked with a smirk. âIâve heard you were always messing with potions, i guess that answers that question huh?â he chuckled and shook his head. âiâm pretty sure the books for potions are the next isle.â with his hand still on the book he pointed with his pinky. âright over there.â kingsley looked down at the book and then closed it, deciding on getting it after all. âso how have you been?âÂ
âž
âKingsley!â Lily replied excitedly although slightly startled at having been recognized. She was personable with enough people she had met in her life that she should have stopped being surprised by now. âI think messing and tinkering would be the right words, yes. Iâve sold my soul to curse breaking now, but Iâm not entirely unconvinced the two canât be combined.â It was hard not to have her pleasure readings seep into work. âIâve been...alright. Busy more than anything.â The nerve and tiredness were starting to show in her eyes, even with trusted company. âAnd yourself? Itâs been a while.â
A small smile would give away his initial reaction to the package, followed by a moment spent eyeing it before shifting his gaze to the redhead in front of him. âI suppose I can accept them,â He admitted. The smile grew once he made eye contact with Lily. âI appreciate it, Lils.â His expression proved to be short lived once asked how he was feeling, knowing he wouldnât be able to get away with lying to her. âThe usual aches and pains,â Remus shrugged then grit his teeth in an attempt at masking a wince. âPlus a bit of guilt at having snapped at mum on my way out.â
âž
Although she was prepared, Lily was grateful she did not have to put up a fight. Need be, she would have found a way to get the sugary fix down into Remusâs belly, but perhaps he had learned over the years what would come of a rejection to her post lunar offerings. âThere are more where those came from.â The from being a bakery around the corner from her flat. Lily had never been the baking type. âI donât think she takes it personally. You are more than agreeable most of the month.â The jokes had long passed likening it to her own time of the month and its similar irritabilities. âYou know Iâve been thinking for some time about a potion that could maybe help, even a little. Itâs just a small thought at this point, but if youâd let me try...â
Save perhaps her desk in the Auror Office or her little flat just inside the confines of muggle London, thereâs scant few places that Emmeline would say she feels effortlessly comfortable in. Sheâs always been a little awkward, a little stiff with others, and itâs proven hard to truly find her places in the world. Surrounded by books, by knowledge and adventures and ink and parchment, Flourish and Blotts has always been one of those rare few spaces.Â
On a rather rare, rainy day off, itâs where Emmeline has found herself wandering into today. Sheâs got no need for more books; not when there are already stacks of unread ones waiting for her at home, but sheâs never been very good at resisting the temptation of this place. So lost in scanning through the book spines of one particular shelf, Emmeline almost misses the question that someone near her chimes in with.Â
âHm, what wasâ oh,â she hums, taking a moment to let the question sink in and consider it. âThey do this now and then to try and mix things up. I think youâll find theyâre where they used to keep the charms spell books now.âÂ
"Because what everyone needs right now is a little more mixing up.â Lily jested lightly in return, unable to stop the small chuckle that precipitated on her lips. She had never been the type to think twice about smiling or joking with a stranger, but the habit had slowly begun to fade as the world darkened around her. The quick response seemed to indicate at least a little knowledge of the place, which to Lily meant a little bit of trust. What could go wrong on laughing over something as small as a book?
Merlin, Iâll have to find where the charms books are now too.â Lily looked up to the section titles but it was clear they had yet to be changed. Her visits were seemingly too frequent that she happened to be here in the midst of the change instead of after. âHere I was just hoping for an easy browsing experience. How foolish of me.â
There were not many places that Lily felt safe. No matter the location, old or new, she found herself mapping out each room, each exit, each person. Her mind was constantly taking in new information, preparing should anything go awry. Unfortunately the expectation in this day and age would always be that something could go wrong. How many times had it before?
However there were still pockets of joy in the world that could not be darkened. Walking between the tall shelves of Flourish and Blotts on a rainy afternoon was one of them. Her finger slowly glided over the spines as she flitted by the titles, not searching for anything in particular, just happy to be there. The smell of the pages alone was enough to settle a frazzled mind, wrapping around her in a familiar embrace. It was perfect. Well, almost perfect, except that the book sections had all been moved about. Could nothing stay as it was?
âSorry, have you seen the potions section? Theyâve moved it and Iâm all turned around.â Lily quietly asked of another cloaked figure as they glided by her.
Amycus hummed into the lip of his glass, the dragon barrel brandy swishing in his glass shining unnaturally under the light as his eyes scanned the inn. It was already busy and soon he was sure he would see an acceptable companion to share in the rest of his bottle, though the wait was already making him testier than normal. He could hear the shrill voice of a drunk girl he knew to be a mudblood from across the inn and the desire to justâŚÂ
He took a deep breath, turning back to the bar and downing his glass before gesturing for a refill and then again for the bottle to be left as well. Tonight would be the last time he would drink for months and he was hoping to make the most of it seeing as he was fully intending on making it all the way to the world cup with the team they had this year. The pressure was mounting, sure, but he could handle anything and the prospect of the signing bonus he would receive after having a world title under his belt was enough to make him only passingly sad that he wouldnât drink again until the victory champagne hit his tongue.
He had other vices to indulge in its absence anyway.
He turned toward the figure suddenly blocking his light, his eyebrow rising as his face relaxed into the almost aimlessly harmless half grin he usually wore. He had been told it was rather disarming as a boy and hadnât stopped wearing it since. âAre you trying to wave down the barman?â he asked, âBecause youâll never do it if you keep being as timid as you are.â
When it came to a good read, Lily was able to take a book anywhere. It had become common practice for this witch to find herself sat at this very stool, a heap of pages cracked out in front of her, hand hovering over a cold pint just to be safe. Her busy mind seamlessly flitted back and forth from absorbing the runes and words on the pages to taking stock of the coming and goings of those around her.Â
However, try as she might, Lily was prone to being lost in the intricacies of prose and puzzles and letting the room slip away from her. It was the book which anchored her to the world now. Only when she raised her glass to her lips and found she had finished the ale did the curse breaker in training regain her bearings. Pushing her toes onto the ring of the stool to stand a little taller, she searched for the kind bar-back from before.
The voice that followed put a shiver down her spine, as she instantly recognized the unsettling intonation in his words, confirmed by the unnerving smirk on Amycusâs face. âIâm in no rush. There are other people waiting for their drinks as well.â With great control, Lily kept her voice calm and even, casually checking just how the wizard was sat, where his wand might be, and confirming the closest exit. How could she have missed his entrance? And seated right beside her? What a foolish mistake.

sirius finally focused on the person in front of him and he realized it was lily. âwhen did you get here sis?â he asked with a raised eyebrow. âwhat happened the other red-head i was just talking to? that wasnât you was it?â sirius rubbed his eyes. âfucken hell. okay fine. let me get you something better.â he pulled out a mixer and fixed her drink up. âpromise you wonât taste the whiskey. but itâs still pretty strong. so you can sit back and relax.âÂ
Lily chucked softly as she rested her folded forearms along the edge of the bar top whilst furtively looking about the room. It had become more than a habit, a necessity really, to gather a comprehensive understanding of not only the room around her, but the people in it. So few could be trusted, but luckily she knew a barkeep who could be. Or at least trusted not to slip her something more than the wrong drink. âOnly a few minutes. Barely kept me waiting. The other red-head stormed off though.â She joked as best she could after the long day, waiting patiently for something to take the edge off. Slipping her fingers around the glass, Lily slowly raised the drink to her lips, giving a small sniff to be sure this wasnât too close to petrol. âMuch better. Thanks, Sirius.â
Remus sat hunched over at a table, cradling his head with his hands. A need for caffeine had become all too tempting and served as the only reason he bothered with going anywhere in the first place. His cup of coffee sat abandoned in front of him, still steaming since he cast a warming charm on it. He had yet to touch it, stomach left uneasy since the days following after the full moon usually involved his being bed bound with no appetite.
He flinched back when the seat across from him became occupied and a moment was needed before he recomponsed himself. A low wince escaped as he sat up straight, the forced pleasant look barely meeting his eyes.
âSeatâs taken,â He murmured weakly and gestured at the copy of the daily prophet discarded across from him. âWas liking being alone with my thoughts.â
âWould your thoughts mind the company of some chocolate biscuits?â Lily spoke softly as she slid a neatly wrapped package across the table and into Remusâs downcast line of site. She took no mind to his request to be alone, even if it was what had prompted them to cancel their weekly brunch. There was the unspoken understanding that come a certain of month, plans were liable to shift. Stubborn as ever, Lily could not simply take the change of plans this go around, and instead needed to satiate her own need to help. From the years of experience, Lily was hopeful that the sugar filled offering would provide some relief like they had before. âHow are you feeling?âÂ
Sirius was sloshed, which normally happened when the night drew long. Not that it mattered, just about everyone here was just as fucked as he was. âI hope you want something fucking simple.â Without even listening to what the person said. âDamn straight. Whiskey it is.â He flipped the bottle and still caught it in his hand even though he coudlnât walk straight. Quickly he poured his drink and smirked. âWhat? Not good enough for you, bell end?âÂ
âI said anything but whiskey.â Lily looked down at the drink, then cast her eyes back up to Sirius, bathing him in her gaze of disappointment. Not at his current state, although she would probably have some words on that, but that he didnât know her drink by now. It wasnât hard to see that Sirius was beyond the point of buzzed, dangerously teetering into blitzed. âCan you at least put a little something in it so itâs drinkable. By my standards. Not yours.â She wouldnât be able to smell his breath over the permeating odor of spilled beer and cigarette butts that wafted about the room, but if she were a betting woman Lily would say Sirius reeked of whatever was in her glass.
âNo  I  donât  work  here  anymore.â  A  few  months  as  a  bar  tender  was  enough.  Despite  herâŚaffinity  for  the  content  of  the  job,  sheâd  bloody  hated  having  to  give  people  exactly  what  they  wanted.  Not  that  auror  training  really  proved  much  different,  but  substance  of  the  two  made  the  difference.  And  yet,  even  then,  it  seemed  to  depend  on  who  you  asked  when  it  came  to  Marlene  McKinnon.  At  least  she  didnât  have  to  serve  her  oldest  sister  and  her  work  friends  now,  but  it  didnât  seem  she  was  all  that  happy  about  Marleneâs  wand  blasting  through  walls  instead  of herself conferring  with  delegates.  âBut  if  you  ask  for  a  pint,  they  keep  the  really  big  glasses  in  the  back  so  you  get  the  smaller  ones  first.  Ask  them  about  it,  I  swear.â  She  grinned,  crystalline  eyes  glimmering  with  her  nonsense  words.
âYes, I know,â Lily sighed as she sank down on the stool next to Marlene, eagerly letting the hook under the bar top hold the weight of her bag instead of her back. âBut I was hoping you changed your mind so I could go back to getting my really big pint on the house.â A smirk settled on the womanâs tired face, the spark of joy at seeing her friend imbuing her equally tired body with a quick rush of energy. âSeeing as youâre the expert, I think Iâll let you manage getting us the biggest pints theyâve got.â After the work day had finished, Lily had every intention of returning back to her flat, cracking open one of the dusty, crumbling books she had taken out from the cursebreakerâs library, but a hunch led her to the Three Broomsticks instead. The inkling was confirmed when Lily walked in to find her best friend patronizing their favorite place to drink.
