It would be ageist to deny appropriate education on these topics in the name of preserving 'innocence'. It would be ageist to deny minors a say in things like medical decisions regarding their own bodies. It would be ageist to insist that no minors ever experience sexual feelings independantly, without prior 'exposure' to sex. It would be ageist to emotionally abuse minors into fearing their own sexualities.

It would be neglect to put minors in unsafe situations and do nothing about it. It would be abuse.

Being unsafe does not make you stupid. It does not necessarily mean that you don't know what you want. It doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you. But it's our (chrono adults) reponsibility to prevent abuse before it happens, whenever possible. The power imbalance is just too great, especially in the world we live in now.
