people have speculated about mel being upset over becca’s reveal for a variety of reasons but one i haven’t seen yet is that as becca’s caregiver, knowing if/when she’s sexually active is like…deeply medically important. yes becca is an adult who should be able to live as independently as possible, and it’s not up to mel whether she “should” be sexually active or not, but mel is, at the end of the day, responsible for becca’s health and wellbeing. she needs to know if becca should have an STI panel regularly because she has many partners, or if she needs contraception, or other resources for practicing safe sex. as the person responsible (from what we’ve seen) for arranging medical care for becca, it IS her business. it just is. having that hidden from her is a potential logistical and emotional nightmare (e.g. if becca got pregnant) as much as it might feel like a personal slight and a lack of trust from the person she loves most.
