Chiori as a peacock.
Peacocks which are so often thought of when it comes to beauty, pride, resilience, and rebirth.
And Chiori who is constantly preening, fixing her appearance and adding another dainty colourful accessory.
Who never shys away from boasting about the powerfulness of her quirk, the lethality of it. Who sticks her well graded assignments on the fridge. Who refuses to shy away from any spotlight, no matter how it's painted. Even when it comes out who she's related to, steps into the media swarm with a puffed out chest and a beaming smile.
Built from a resilience drilled into her through years of training and practice. The girl who continously gets back up, even when she hates the very notion.
Chiori who rebuilds herself a thousand times over as she struggles to hold her footing in her new life. Hero training, Usj, the summer camp. She gets back up time and time again.
Peacocks and their meaning of awakening, the eye shapes on their feathers seen as symbols of protection or insight.
And Chiori, whose sudden awakening comes with the return of unrelenting grief and hatred she has surrounding her quirk. Who finds her brother post-Tartarus breakout and begs him to use one of the quirk erasure bullets on her, only to find out he no longer has them.
Chiori and the peacock, a symbol of beauty. Does her beauty lie in her destructive quirk? Or is it in the never ending strength she no longer wants to practice?
Is her resilience a curse? a blessing? It only feels like a reminder that this life was not hers to choose. Continue, push forward, live longer — all that to be a hero. A dream that was never hers.
Chiori and the peacock, the symbol of pride. Her pride used to lie in her usefulness. She doesn't feel very useful now as she measures the merits of her morality. Is she a hero? A vigilante? A villain? So willing to act like one when it suits her. So quick to give up that hero mentality that had been drilled into her since she could remember.
The peacock — rebirth.
The bullet, it should've been her rebirth.
Who would Chiori be without her powers? What life might she live?
That was all she had ever hoped to know.
