And I say I find it funny, but in reality, I feel genuine pity for these obsessed people, because I think these fictional characters haunt their dreams every day, lol.

Do these people think that fans of these characters are going to stop loving their blorbos? The only thing their attitude sometimes does is make these fans start to hate WANGXIAN (collateral damage, unfortunately_ for some, but most of us still like Wangxian) and some of their toxic fans who don't allow other mdzs fans to love characters other than the main couple and the characters who were entirely devoted to them. “Daily reminder that this character sucks.” “If you want to love these characters, you have to accept that they are...” Like no, we don't have to do anything for you. Who the hell are you??

Yesterday, another post compared these people to toxic exes who can't stop talking about their former partners and talk about them all day long, and I completely agree.

Jiang Cheng will ALWAYS be the most popular side-character in terms of fanarts, discussions, fanfictions, and other fan-created content. Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang will ALWAYS have devoted fans, even though they were “mean.”

I don't want to waste too much time with those kinds of people, so I'll only respond once:

Someone said they were frustrated by the way many JC fans portray him. I get it. No, really! I'm not really a fan of Soft-puppy-did-nothing-wrong JC either and some stans can be intense, but that doesn't change a single thing of what I said. You can just block people, lol.

Others mentioned racism, homophobia, and sexism... You do understand that we simply love antagonists, right? And they DON'T EXIST. We don't want them to “win”? We don't want Wangxian to “lose”? We don't want homophobia to rule the world or sex workers to be mistreated? We just love fictional characters who don't exist. I repeat: THEY ARE NOT REAL, GUYS!

An adult brain is capable of enjoying a fictional character without endorsing all of their actions, trust me!

You all just want to play the police and you have no real arguments, so you use the irl morality card on us, lol

3. And finally, someone else said that JC wasn't popular. Lol, you're coping. If JC wasn't popular, we wouldn't be arguing right now. Just check the stats yourself for the character after Wangxian with the most followers/tags/edits/fanarts, on any fandom platform, even here on Tumblr. Go ahead. Go to AO3, Red Note, Lofter, Pixiv, Instagram, Tiktok, etc. and come back later to argue with me. (or not, lol, I said I wouldn't argue more)

i just remembered I had this WIP and decided to finish it

I started it directly after reading the flashback when Lotus Pier gets invaded and Madam Yu forces the boys to leave. Just. The whole Jiang family was really compelling- but what a messy, complex and fragile dynamic they all had (this is including WWX since Jiang Fengman made him the crux of all their strife)

Me (confused): Just filter OUT Jiang Cheng's name???

My friend: I can't because three-quarters of the authors tag him, even if he only appears for one chapter and is insignificant! I don't want to miss out on the good stories because of that. But do you know what a pain in the ass it is to sort through the filters when you don't like Jiang Cheng?

Let me make something real fucking clear.

I like Jiang Cheng. I am a Jiang Cheng fan. I like him because that bitch had the entire universe against him and he still triumphed. Impossible what? Jiang Cheng doesn't know what that word means. He cooks impossible for breakfast and feeds it to Jin Ling so that his nephew would take after the Jiang side more.

The only thing Jiang Cheng has to apologize for is serving absolute c*nt in every scene he's in. And when he's done with that, he should apologize for stealing the Jin's thunder, because only one of his outfits could buy Carp Tower. And then, maybe he should alologize for wielding the best spiritual tool so beautifully, we forgot other people have spiritual tools.

Never assume I will put fault on a man who went through horrific trauma and reacts in a traumatized way because he was, shocker, traumatized. Also never assume I won't defend him to anyone who talks shit about him in reference to other characters, because this man couldn't have given less of a fuck about the plot, the storyline decided to fuck with him, so he fucked right back.
