in the headlights

She was panicked; running with jewelry still in her pockets.  At first they were only chasing her for robbing the store, but when they found out she was a ‘freak’? 

All hell broke loose. 

Jasmine hadn’t even realized processed she’d jumped into anyone’s home before she heard their voice, turning around to apologize. “I-I’m sorry! I’ll leave in just a moment, I promise. I-”

Oh dear. This guy was in the shower wasn’t he?

“Well, I’m not currently planning on sharing with anyone? I mean.. If any of the gang need a place to crash for a while in the area they’re definitely allowed to-”

“Oh man.” “It’s all so wild, y’know?”

“I think I’m gonna ask one of the others to help me finally buy a house. Like nothing TOO big, but I’d love a larger yard where I could have a garden. Something somewhere quiet and pretty, where I could take pictures of wildlife and the scenery.”

Hope

In longing, you feel hope. You're on a long road, you know this. Your desire is strong, big in your chest but you don't feel weighed down. You've had your hardships, but you know what you truly seek is, or could be, not far from your grasp. Not to say you don't feel the burning in your heart for something more, but theres still a spark in you, a voice that says, "don't give up, what if?" You can be patient. You know you must be. Your yearning is felt like a campfire in rain, the circumstances say the flame should be out, but yet it burns, as long as god willing or sheer effort keeps it alive. You feel the pull in your gut that makes your throat tighten with the ache of your heart but you softly smile, it's just a reminder of your love. You aren't afraid of your feelings in the way that would make you push them away because you're familiar with them and you know the payoff would be well worth the grief. You're doing great my darling, you will find your love if you have not already.

She shakes her head, fidgeting with her hair.  “No..”

“Do-”  This was a stranger. “Do you want me to sit with you?” -until you die? Unspoken meaning to the question, she figured she didn’t need to bring up. 

Wouldn’t be the first time.  She’s sat with a homeless man on a job because there was obviously no help for him. 

This was bad. This was really bad. 

Jasmine was scrambling for a first aid kit while she was talking, and her mind was running 90 miles a second. 

This guy was missing an arm. She had no idea what to do with a missing arm. She wasn’t trained for that kind of medical help. How in the heck do you help a severed- 

Oh, He was speaking to her.  Kit in hand, she stopped in her tracks about halfway to him.

“But- I mean..” “Aren’t you bleeding out?”

Was that blue stuff blood? Seemed plausible. Right?
