     “right, lots of work and then she will be back for you and mine will be back for me. in the mean time we could play?”

“You shouldn’t be trying to hide anything from me.” She didn’t give a crap whether or not Henry kept things from Sam, but it mattered a whole hell of a lot that he’d been keeping things from her. Addison sighed and she listened to what he had to say about the girl. Fury ripped through her as he told her about a baby that wasn’t even his. How could he keep that from her? “Let it go? You want me to let it go? A girl made you believe that she was having your baby, and you didn’t think to tell me?” She couldn’t believe that he’d, for starters, gone through that alone, and secondly, that he could let the girl go without any prenatal care. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Addison could imagine that it would be anything but easy to tell her that he’d gotten someone pregnant, but that baby could’ve been her grandchild.

Addison stayed focused on Henry as the movie finished up, she was cherishing the time that she actually had to spend with him; she would definitely be asking Naomi to take her patients for the morning and late afternoon. Addison chuckled lightly as she watched him rub his eyes, “I don’t think so, buddy, I think it’s time for bed.” Her fingers ran over his curls as she finally heard the question that she knew he’d been dying to ask. Sighing lightly, Addison pretended to think about it, “If we can adopt a dog that’s already been trained, I guess we can get one. It’s going to be your responsibility to feed, walk, and clean up after it though.” Of course she would be helping too, she wouldn’t let him walk the dog alone, but it was the principle. 

‘ my moms tell me that all the time.i think they forget i can tell time, i’m sure your mom will come soon.’

Rosalie sighed, she needed to do two things: get Henry away from their mom’s office and stop him from spinning lies. “And when she finds out you were lying, then what? Whatever mom’s got in there, it’s there for a reason, stop worrying about it and let’s go swimming.”

Addison shook her head, “I don’t care if the sky is falling, nothing is more important than you, Henry.” To hear that Henry actually thought that he couldn’t tell her things because she was busy broke her heart and she didn’t know what to do about it. She worked hard to make sure that Henry didn’t hear that she was too busy or that she didn’t have time for him; more often than not she heard that he was the one with the plans. “Mine and Sam’s busy levels do not excuse your behavior no matter what. Tell me what’s going on with you?” She reached up to cup his cheek; this was her baby boy and something was clearly upsetting him.

“Blackmail works a lot better when it’s true, little brother,” Rosalie smirked lightly. She could’ve been bluffing, but it was also entirely possible that she didn’t have a boyfriend. It was just a guy who was her friend, and maybe a little more, but no one knew about that because not even they talked about it. “And you should be careful with the lies you spin about other people.”

“Thank you,” Addison told him as she took the piece of popcorn and ate it happily watching the movie with Henry being close to her. She’d noticed how interested Henry had been into having pets and sighed to herself. Sighing to herself, she watched her son be immersed in the movie and wondered if she could maybe make getting a dog possible. A pet that he could play with would help him learn responsibility and might help keep him company with her long hours; Addison could always hire a dog walker for during the day. Her only one thing was the dog couldn’t be too young, it needed to already be potty trained. She had decided that she was okay with having a dog in the house while she was curled up with Henry, but decided that she’d wait until the end of the movie to talk to him about it.

Addison had long accepted that Henry was starting to grow up and that he wouldn’t be entirely open to telling her everything that was going on; but she had hoped that she’d created a safe network of people that he knew he could talk to when things happened. What Henry was telling her, by telling her all of what was happening, is that she’d failed. Sam would usually keep her in the loop when it came to Henry, but she never let what she was told influence how she parented him. Knowing that suddenly Henry didn’t want to burden Sam or herself, she frowned. “Henry-” she shook her head before running a hand through her hair, “For starters, you are never a burden. If you have any question about that, then I’m clearly not doing my job as your mother. Second of all, that behavior is not okay and I will not have you repeating it again.” She knew that she’d punished him probably more than enough already, but if this was a recurring issue, she might need to amend it with other things. Addison knew that if she had to, she would ruin all trust she had with him if it meant keeping him safe.
