Me when people say Delphine, on a show with shady, morally ambiguous characters, is shady and that’s why they don’t like her: 

Me when people excuse Felix’s playing with Rachel’s emotions and tormenting her but condemn Delphine’s actions of trying to get information to stop the motions of the clones getting murdered:

Me when people dismiss Delphine’s actions in the last episode as a crazy jealous ex stalker, when Rachel had all the clones monitored as her role as DYAD head and had footage of Sarah and Kira: 

People when I show them the scene when she downright tells Rachel “You used me. I love her. And if you let her die without me is personal” Putting herself at risk by telling this dangerous, powerful woman that she could basically use Cosima as leverage against her.

People when I show them all the things she did last season to help save Cosima. (Taking up all the disdain from probably ALL the characters of the show in order to save her, being played by Rachel, being played by Leekie, being played by EVERYONE)

People when I tell them Delphine tortured Rachel to stop them from killing ALL the clones. Alison and Cosima would be LITERALLY dead by now if it wasn’t for Delphine. (Not to mention she wasn’t the one putting a pencil in Rachel’s eye with the intention of killing her. No, it was COSIMA using kira and scott. And now Delphine is trying to clean that up)

People when I finally say “Okay, then. Delphine is shady and evil. So, who’s gonna keep Cosima alive? Why is evil Delphine so invested in saving Cosima? What is the evil thing she’d be gaining from keeping Cosima alive?”

At the start of the season, I was optimistic. Though we knew Cophine would be split up, the breakup scene in the hallway was still rooted in love. And I imagined the rest of the season would be Cosima and Delphine working toward a cure in their own ways, and eventually finding their way back to one another.

And then I watched this season unfold. And saw that Cosima’s “arc” was essentially just her growing from despondent to utterly disinterested. At least in everything but Shay.

Suddenly the intelligent, curious, crazy for science Cosima I had spent the last twenty episodes coming to love and respect had been reduced to a sullen, oversexed brat. She has spent more time naked in bed than she has in a lab.

If that’s a choice the writers want to make, then fine. But please articulate for us the why of it. Give us something to latch on to so we can understand the choices she’s making. Because right now it feels so incredibly out of character for Cosima to refuse to pee in a cup, when last season she said she would try anything to find a cure.

Really, Cosima? You won’t pee because it’s Delphine who asked it of you? Because you don’t trust her?

Have the writers made you that petty and vindictive? Or have they just made you that dumb – completely ignorant of all of Delphine’s efforts to save you and your sisters?

As for her relationship with Shay, it’s as one dimensional as Cosima has become: Beyond a story about a bad first date and a high-five at a bar, there’s been no effort to express an intellectual, emotional or spiritual connection between Cosima and Shay. Perhaps that’s the point, and would explain why their scenes are now becoming borderline gratuitous.

Nonetheless, it’s still disheartening to see Cosima go from a relationship with Delphine, that was beautifully complex and layered with love, devotion, science and friendship, to a relationship based solely on sex. One for which she’s shirking all of her other responsibilities.

Again, it feels out of character for Cosima. And again, if the writers would at least offer some insight into why Cosima is throwing herself so deeply into her relationship with Shay, I could try and understand. Was her brush with death and breakup with Delphine so shattering that Cosima is throwing herself into a bubble of denial? Is it just easier for her to ignore everything than to accept her reality as a dying clone?

Irish voters have backed legalising gay marriage by a landslide- a stunning result that illustrates the rapid social change taking place in this traditionally Catholic nation.

In the map above of Ireland’s 43 constituencies the green represents those that said ‘yes’ to gay marriage. Only Roscommon-South Leitrim, which is largely rural, had a majority of ‘no’ votes.

Overall 62.1 per cent of Irish voters said “yes” on a turnout of above 60 per cent. The figures show over a million people (1,201,607) voted to legalise same-sex marriage, while  734,300 voted against.
