i hope that “the pitt” never puts santos in pediatrics. i hope that “the pitt” eases up on her pediatric cases in season 3. i hope that “the pitt” allows female characters to exist outside of maternity and seemingly maternal qualities. i hope that “the pitt” allows women to be cold and compassionate and complex and that none of it needs to be in relation to children.

not to reheat the robby sexist nachos. but the excuse that robby isn't sexist because 'he sees himself in her' is a logical fallacy. a man seeing himself reflected in a woman and being unable to treat her with basic respect as a result is sexist. if his own image of himself overtakes his ability to treat her like a person with thoughts and feelings then that is sexist behavior. if his ability to see a woman as a full functioning person goes away when he's upset then that's bad, actually.

actually i'll add to this. there comes a point where 'seeing himself in her' is just plain disrespectful to her as a person and her accomplishments. she is so much more than just a copy of him, and he clearly can't see that. and with the way noah talks about her in interviews he clearly views it as a compliment when it's .... not? it doesn't make any of it better? he still treated her like shit? and she deserves so much more than a person who can only see the negative parts of himself reflected in her; someone who actually sees her.

The fact that as soon as dr Al-hashimi (a woman of color in an equal position) disclosed her personal status the first thing that robby does is thinking (and threatening) of reporting her, which puts him in a place where he has power over her in the workplace, while with Langdon (a white man who is below him in the chain of command) the first thing he does is going to the bathroom to flush the pills (and while he doesn't actually flush them he also does not report Langdon for stealing drugs) is in fact extremely telling of the actual man that Robby is.

remember when people were so sure that santos would kill harlow because of her bedside manner and the interpretation issues, and that al hashimi's AI app would totally kill a patient, and that samira's slowness would kill someone, or that mel's patient that was waiting on her would die, or that joy's apathy would mean she would be neglectful and harm patients. and then none of that happened. because women are actually competent and know what they're doing

what’s funny is how robbie (and a lot of the fandom) acted like al hashimi kept this huge secret for so long, when in reality, she told him within her first shift, and considering the fact that she hadn’t had a seizure in a year, it was fine that she didn’t tell him prior to that. not only this, she also did inform the actual experts on the matter (neuro) and they cleared her to work!!! the moment she realised she was having symptoms, she booked an appointment with her doctor as well!!! she was being vigilant and she asked for help when she thought she would need it and she treated patients Well and still it wasn’t enough

robby's mental health is canonically being externalised and shown at the cost of samira and baran's mental health. if you can only talk about samira and baran's mental health struggles as a concept completely removed from robby, i will assume that your support for women is conditional. if, when highlighting their hardships, robby can not be criticised, you do not understand their struggles. misogyny is so deeply rooted in medicine and in hierarchal structures, and robby does take part of that. every man does. yes, there are external factors that play with the mental health of these women, too; it genuinely is not all him. but their struggles and emotional states are deeply intertwined with how robby sees and interacts with them. not acknowledging that feels like a disservice to understanding these women as a whole, and flattens robby as a character. and on top of that erases a very large part of women's stuggles. which is the men that perpetrate them.

There’s something so interesting in Amy giving up the driver’s seat to Whitaker when she’s the one picking him up. On the surface level it’s very Traditional Gender Roles that Amy can drive her own truck but only if The Man isn’t there, but there’s also the subtext of Dennis’s subtle martyrdom that he’s getting off a 15 hour shift and the person picking him up is making him drive and I don’t think it’s intentional for either of the characters here but it’s interesting to see Dennis kind of slot into this traditional masculine role to his own detriment when he’s clearly pretty insecure about his masculinity at work given his awkward interactions with Ahmad and Antoine earlier in the season and with Langdon later on. It makes me wonder how much of him playing farmhouse with Amy is about affirming he can still be the person he was raised to be.

hey guys why do dana, langdon, duke, abbot, etc. all get to have heart to hearts with robby and really genuinely confront him about his issues and be portrayed as his close friends and equals meanwhile javadi is seeking approval from him(???) and mohan is apologizing to him(???) and al-hashimi gets her confidence absolutely shaken by him. like hey guys. why is the writing like that. what's different about javadi and mohan and al-hashimi do you think

Al-Hashimi's cry in the car was so fucking relatable to anyone who has a chronic illness that feels like they're being barred from doing what they want because of something that they had no choice or control over.
