It had been at least two years since Ashyln made the trip back home, so she couldn’t wait to see the look on both of her parent’s faces once they realized she was there. It only took her Dad a second to spot her in the car, which was why he was so happy to call out to his wife that they had company. Monica quickly dried her hands before making her way outside. The second she noticed the car was full, she got a bit teary eyed. Ashlyn quickly got out to head over and give her Dad a hug before giving her Mom a hug as well. “Why didn't you tell us, you were coming!” She asked. “Because I wanted to surprise you guys!” Ashlyn replied. “I swear you’re worse than your father.” She turned her attention to Deshawn giving him a quick hug before smiling over at Kyleigh. “Kyleigh, it’s bout time that we met.” Despite this being their first time meeting, she wasted little time hugging Kyleigh as well. “And you must be Stephon. Wow. Nice work, Ash.” Ashlyn could feel her cheeks flush over at her Mother’s words, but still had a smile nonetheless. “Mom…” She groaned. “I’m sorry.. I’m sorry. It’s nice to meet you both.” Derrick gave everyone a quick wave as he made his way over to the car to see if there were any bags he could help with.
‘So after that long trip, you guys must be hungry. I have a pot pie in the oven that should be done in about fifteen minutes or so…Come in.” Monica led the way toward the door, holding it open as everyone piled in. The place was pretty much spotless except for the fact Derrick had his controller of his game system currently on the couch. It was obvious that he had been playing Madden since the screen was still up and running. “I swear that man and his video games.” Monica mumbled under her breath as she turned the TV over to a regular channel. “Anyone thirsty?”
Ashlyn wasn’t surprised to see that the house was spotless, her Mother was a bit of an OCD freak. She could remember plenty of times getting in trouble over the simplest things of leaving her shoes by the door. Over time she eventually learned to just go with the flow, and now slowly, but steady, she was picking up on her Mother’s habits as well. When Derrick came into the house, he looked over already expecting to see his pause game off, but still sighed out of annoyance. He made sure to place all the bags in his hand by the stairs, looking over at Stephon with a smile when the game was mentioned. “I’ve been hooked since I was a teenager.” He admitted. “I don't understand why you have to buy the game every single year though. Isn’t it the same thing?” Monica asked as she brought over a glass of sweet tea for Kyleigh. “No, it’s not the same every year. Updated rosters, new rookies. Not to mention the special edition copies.” Derrick had every intention of grilling Stephon a bit, but that could wait. “You wanna hop on the game? I got an extra controller.” Ashlyn took a seat next to Kyleigh, her eyes on the screen as she watched her father place the channel back to its original.
All Monica could do was shake her head, but she decided to let him be, especially since he hardly ever had anyone to game with. Deshawn rolled his eyes at the sight. He was a sports fan, and enjoyed watching both Football and Basketball, but he could never get into sports games on the game system. He much rather preferred to play games like GTA or COD. Now that was entertaining.
hate that I was understanding when I should’ve just been a cunt
Commisioned work for @abadbadbrujah
(TXT): that’s only because you started teasing me first, so I had to get payback somehow.
(TXT): 45 mins?! Where did you go? Did you sneak off to another city on me? 👀
Ashlyn had a feeling there was something Mary was up to that she wasn’t telling her, but since she had no proof, she decided to let it go — at least for now that is.
(TXT): well since you're coming home with my favorite Chinese food..I guess I can wait a little longer. (TXT): especially if you remember to get the extra duck sauce for the egg rolls.<3

Ashlyn loved that her father was so protective of her. Well she did love it when she was a little girl. However now that she was grown and out of the house, she sometimes wished he would have a little more faith in her. That might have been why she started to gravitate to her Mother more, because she treated her as an adult, and not some teenager. However now that she was listening to Stephon, she was starting to feel a little silly for even feeling that way in the first place. After all, she was his one and only child. “I just don’t want him to make you feel uncomfortable.” She replied, smiling at his following words. “You’re right. I’m tripping over nothing.” She leaned in to kiss him softly against his lips before turning her focus on Kyleigh. She wasn’t sure why Tyson hadn’t wanted to tag along as well, maybe because he still felt she hated him, which couldn’t have been further from the truth. The second Kyleigh and Tyson mended their relationship, whatever beef she had with him was long forgotten.
“I bet my Aunt has something on the stove cooking right now.” And he wasn’t lying. Monica might not have been in on the fact the group was coming, but she knew Dee was so she took it upon herself to make some of his favorite things. She currently had a chicken pot pie in the oven. She had made a huge container of sweet tea, and one of lemonade since she knew he loved both. There also was a cake she had gotten from a local bakery for dessert as well. “I doubt it.” Ashlyn replied. “We’re surprising her, remember?” Dee smirked. “Yeah, but she knows I’m coming.” He said once they all had gotten into the car to make the drive to Ashlyn’s parent’s place. When they arrived twenty minutes later, they pulled up to a home on the end of the block. Of course her father was already outside, messing with his lawnmower since he refused to buy himself a new one. The moment he noticed the car pull into the driveway he had a smile on his face, before heading for the door and calling out to his wife.
Stephon wouldn't say that Ash was tripping, it was perfectly normal for her to worry that her father might not like him. The idea that one single man could completely destroy his daughter's entire life was enough to drive a father to the extremes, but there was nothing like that hidden in his heart. No he loved this woman and just wanted the entire world to know it. Which in his head was the next step, to launch their status as a couple to the public once he was given the seal of approval by her parents. Not a second of hesitation was given in response to her kissing him, his hands falling down to the top of her backside as he returned the gesture. Damn he could spend all day doing that but not with their current audience. "You good beautiful, not much longer now." He winked, listening to the banter between her and Deshawn with a soft chuckle. Sometimes his own children would go back and forth like that, then turn around and help each other beat some level at a game or figure out how to get around the block he put on certain apps on their phones.
Whatever was cooking or waiting for them when they got to their destination Kyleigh would be more than happy to have whatever was offered to her. Tossing her bag into the back with the others she then climbed into her seat. As they began to drive her focus went from being hungry to the scenery around her, all of the many scents mixing in an alluring and fun kind of way. Maybe if Ash and Stephon wanted to have some time alone with her parents she would go exploring by herself, even if it was just the neighborhood. It didn't take them long for them to arrive at the house, a soft smile coming to Kyleigh's face when she saw Ash's dad outside. Mowing the lawn probably wasn't that big of a deal to anyone else, but she thought it was the cutest thing ever. "I think your dad's excited!" She commented from the back, picking up on the nervous but happy energy that was soon filling the car.

Ash couldn’t even say anything, because before she had gotten together with Kevin, her dating history had been nonexistent. In fact she hadn’t given anyone a real chance since she made the move from Denver. “What?! I’m a little offended that you don’t trust me.” She playfully rolled her eyes as she stuck her own pinky out to lock with Simone’s. “I pinky promise!” She pulled her hand back with a smile. “Once you two are official, and yes, I’m that confident it will happen, we’re going to have to do a double date. I wonder how long it would take me to talk Kevin into agreeing to it though.”
Simone wasn’t the only one who couldn’t believe her and Kevin were still together, but Ashlyn as well. They hardly had anything in common, besides their love for wrestling, but somehow they managed to make their relationship work. She honestly couldn’t have been more happy. “I know they had some heated matches in the past, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say they hate each other.” It did make her curious, especially with how fast Roman made himself scarce once he saw Kevin walking up. “Well, shit. Now I’m dying to know, and I can’t bug Kevin cause he’s busy.”
For the longest time Ashlyn had been dreading Stephon meeting her parents, however the moment they confessed their love to one another, whatever fear she might have had before instantly disappeared in a blink of an eye. She still wasn’t sure how to feel about the possibility of her father embarrassing her, but regardless she was actually looking forward to everyone meeting. She wanted them to love him just as much as she did. “We gotta go to Boston next.” She replied. Mostly because she was beyond curious to see Aunt’s Joan diner and the place her bestie called home. “Nah, I’m born and raised from Atlanta. I don’t know why the hell my Uncle picked Denver of all places to live.” He replied, chuckling as he glanced over at Kyleigh. “Easy. To get far away from you.” Ashlyn teased. “You a lie, I’m his favorite nephew.” Dee replied. “You’re his ONLY nephew.” She said with a roll of her eyes. “Still favorite though.” As they continued to walk through the airport, Deshawn let it be known that he had thought ahead to rent a car, and everyone could wait outside while he grabbed the keys.
“Babe, I’m so glad you were able to make this trip too. I hope my Dad doesn’t drive you too crazy with his question.” She said once they stepped outside, giving his hand a squeeze as she leaned her head against his shoulder. “Kyleigh. How you holding up?” She asked, since she knew how her best friend felt about airports. It wasn’t long before Deshawn grabbed the keys and made his way outside to join everyone. Despite the fact he hadn’t been to Denver in a few years, everything still felt the same, giving him this nostalgic feeling. “Alright, party people. Ready to hit the road?”

Since Deshawn had already made plans to visit her Mom and Dad, Ashlyn thought it would be the perfect time to take a impromptu trip back home. She somehow convinced her cousin to keep it a secret, so they had no clue that she was coming. That or the fact that she had gotten Kyleigh and Stephon to tag along for the trip as well. At first the thought of her parents meeting Stephon made her beyond nervous, but seeing as how they were in it for the long run, and her Mother had been asking her endlessly as of late when she would get to meet him, she honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect time.
Clad in a pair of leggings, and one of her favorite Jokic jerseys, Ashlyn made her way through the airport, with everyone near her side. “Wow…it feels like I haven’t been home in forever.” She said unable to stop the smile from showing against her face as she took in the scenery. “Remember I haven’t been home since my last year of college, so no judging my time capsule of a bedroom.” Her eyes went between her boyfriend and Kyleigh, giggling softly as she took in their reactions to her words.

There was something about the way she said, 'me of all people' that didn't sit well with Ash. To her Simone was amazing, and a catch, so it wasn't surprising to hear that Roman was interested in her. "Oh my god, stop. You're amazing! I'm not surprised he noticed you, not to mention you're a total baddie!" She giggled at her own words. "But I'm so happy for you, girl!! And I want all the details after your date. I promise I won't spill the tea on my show either." She teased.

Since he and Kyleigh were back on track again, Tyson had been in an amazing mood. It didn’t even bother him when Stephon cracked jokes about him. “My vitamins. I’m still a growing boy after all.” He replied. Deshawn tried his hardest not to laugh, because it was so corny, but at the same time he admired how the older man had a thick shell, and words didn’t seem to bother him. He almost cracked a joke as well, but he had caught the look Kyleigh gave Stephon, and he definitely did not want that smoke. Instead he grabbed a plate and helped himself to a blueberry waffle, and chocolate chip one as well. He loaded up with eggs before taking a seat at the table. “So, Stephon, man. You made it out to Denver to visit yet” It was a good thing Ashlyn was distracted by Kyleigh, because she probably would have given her cousin a look at the mention of her hometown. Of course she wanted to bring him around her childhood home, but only when the time was right. Tyson grabbed a plate for himself, loading up on the fruit and a waffle. He wasn’t paying attention at all about the conversation going on behind them. “My Uncle can be a bit of a hard ass, but he’s cool. My aunt is awesome.” He said as he went on speaking.
“Dang, is it that obvious?” Ashlyn found herself smiling even harder at her best friend’s words, and it took everything in her not to look over at Stephon as her cousin continued to talk with him. “Girl, yes. Cause I’m dying to give you this tea. But after breakfast though. You gotta feed my niece or nephew.” She went over to the fridge to grab herself an orange juice, taking a seat as her phone began to go off. It was a number she hadn’t seen hit her line up in a while, her Aunt Debbie. And she had a strong reason as to why she was calling, cause her idiot son wasn’t answering his phone. “Mornin' auntie." She said as she answered, her attention already on her cousin. "Yeah, he's right here." She said before heading the phone over to Dee who groaned the second he got on the line. "Dang, woman. You act like I'm five." Before he could say anything else, his Mom was heard loud and clear through the phone. "BOY WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO LIKE THAT?" He might as well had been five, because the way he corrected his tone as he got up to head into the other room to finish the call was hilarious. "Serves him right." Ashlyn said as she slipped her orange juice.
Despite the fact Ashlyn’s Mother hadn’t met Stephon yet, he already had her seal of approval. She had taken note of how happy her daughter had been as of late, but more importantly how close they have become as well. She was always a little jealous of the relationship Ash shared with her father, mostly because whenever she needed advice about anything, anything at all she would go to him first. Now she was starting to open up to her Mother more, also call her more as well which had Monica over the moon. As far as Derrick went, he just wanted what was best for Ash, and it did help him sleep better at night knowing she had a dependable guy in her corner. Ashlyn yawned as she took one final sip of her orange juice, not realizing how tired she had started to become until that very moment. She might have had it all planned out where Stephon would take a nap, but at the rate she was going, she would definitely need to join him as well.
When Kyleigh mentioned that she was such a Mom, she couldn’t help but smile a bit. Of course she didn’t see herself having a baby anytime soon, but it did give her hope as to how she would be with Stephon’s kids once she officially met them. She found herself glancing over at Stephon as he ate, curious to know how he felt about that happening soon or not. “So, babe. What do you think?” She glanced over with a smile when Ky mentioned how amazing they were. “It’s an easy recipe so just let me know whenever one of your cravings kick in, and I got you!” She took a moment to glance over at the waffles, and there were still a couple of each remaining. “I will save the rest for you in the fridge. Unless my cousin sneaks in and eats them all first or something.” She giggled. Deshawn came back just as she said those words. “Oh, I'm going to destroy the rest later.” He replied as he handed her phone back. “You better at least save Ky a couple.” He took a moment to look at her before sighing heavily. “Fine. But I call dibs on the blueberry.”
@librawaysx The big day of their Japan travel had finally arrived and Phil was as excited as Ashlyn was. It all started because it was the younger woman's dream travel, and one thing about Phil was that he would do anything to make her happy. So he wasted no time, bought two tickets for them and now they were there, ready to enjoy their little adventure. And it definitely started with a bang, since they joined the miles high club just like they said they were gonna do. The former World Heavyweight Champion loved how action packed their life as a couple was, every day he spent with her was an adventure. As they arrived in their hotel room, the Chicago native left his bag on the floor and let out a happy sigh. He never had the chance to enjoy Japan, since he went to it just for work in the past. Just a few minutes walking down the streets, they made it clear that it was a very lively country, one of the things he loved about it. "Okay babe, about our itinerary..." He started, placing his hands on his girlfriend's hips. "I think you've gotta refresh my memory." He said with a giggle.
He didn’t know it yet, but he made the biggest mistake of his life asking her what kind of plushie she wanted. Ashlyn was a proud collector of many things, and plushies were one of them. She had a few anime sets, but each was missing a certain one she needed to complete it. Like with her One Piece collection of plushies she was missing Chopper and Nami. And with her Dragon Ball collection she was in desperate needs of a Trunks or Piccolo. Since they were in Japan, it shouldn’t have been a problem coming across at lease one of the plushie, or more. “Are you sure you want to ask me that? Because I could go on for hours, and we will end up with a suitcase dedicated to plushies, and plushies only.” She giggled. “But I would be happy if I find a Chopper or Trunks one for sure.” She leaned her head against his shoulder as they continued to their destination, and once there she did a little squeal of excitement. “Oh my god, this is so dope.” She waited until they were inside to look around, and just like she predicted there were a bunch of claw machines with anime themed plushies. There also were a few you could get blind boxes from as well. “Oh my god. Is that a Gojo?!” It had to be by far the cutest plushie she had ever seen in her life, making her take back her previous answer. “Baby, I need that soooo bad!!"
