man i've been pointing out the similarities between scarlet hollow and night in the woods for a while now but episode 5 REALLY cemented that in the grand scheme of the narrative. IT'S LITERALLY NITW ALL OVER AGAIN like scarlet hollow IS possum springs. the scarlet family IS the "cult of dads", even down to the significance of their respective mines. the whole overarching theme of "the (vague, fundamentalist, biased) needs of the many/future outweighs the value of the (vulnerable, ignored) individual/present" and how the current generation of young marginalized people are the only ones looking at it all from a human perspective and going Actually This Shit Already Sucked Even Without The Eldritch Horrors And Will Continue To Suck If You Keep The Cycle Going and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGRGRHHHUUGGHHHHHH
