Painting with light is a process in which you use long exposures to highlight or add emphasis to certain parts of the image, this is commonly seen in still life photography. The best way to photograph painting with light is to use a tripod so there is no movement or change in your images, and to use a torch or small source of light to create the highlight on the areas you want to be lit, you should also be in a completely dark room in order to create the strong highlights.

Different ways to paint with light:

A flashlight

A diffuser for the flashlight

An LED panel

A diffuser (large panel) which will be used with the LED panel

Composite photos can vary greatly in complexity. Composite images include focus stacking of a product shot or combining different shots into one.

Compositing can be a useful tool in cases such as advertising and it can also be used to create much more elaborate scenes that wouldn’t have been possible to create in camera.

What is the concept?

A giant rubber duck floating down a pond/river.

I plan on using a pond at Eglinton Park.

I will be using a rubber duck for my object.

For this task I used multiple images and composited them together using the pen path tool, blending modes, layer masks and clipping masks.
