“Morning, Liam.” Marcus spoke back in greeting. Despite his friendly demeanour, everything else about his actions was professional. He liked the man but it was important for him to treat his work and his social life as separate entities almost. “Sorry to drop in on you so early on but we felt the chances of catching you would be higher at this time. I’m good where drinks are concerned though; already had more coffee than would be approved of this morning.” He admitted, a little smirk on his face before he motioned for Liam to lead the way. It was only once they got settled that Marcus continued. “Due to recent developments, we’ve reason to believe that you were incorrectly incarcerated and as such the case is being reopened.” He began, pausing as he monitored the mans expression and body language. “Looking back now at the case and trial, the evidence was a little lacking but your confession was what played a major part in the conviction. A confession which now appears to be questionable.”

Fred ran a hand through his hair as Marcus spoke. He then added in, “We hope that with the investigation being reopened, we can get you exonerated for your conviction.”

After leading them into the house for a seat, being told that he possibly hadn’t committed the crime wasn’t news to Liam. He knew he was an innocent man but hearing about the case being reopened caused his stomach to twist into knots. All he could think about right now was his sister. Julia. The person he had taken the fall and even did the time for. “I see,” he tried to remain as poised as possible. Perhaps there was still a way to protect Julia in all of this. “What exactly would you like from me then? To come in for more questioning?” Liam wondered, trying to understand what his role would be in the reopening of the case.

Hearing a knock at his door, Liam didn’t think it’d be Callista because she would’ve just used her key to let herself in. Intrigued, he rose from his comfortable seat to see who the unexpected visitor was. Finally opening the door, there were actually two visitors. Aurors. Familiar faces too. “Good morning gentlemen,” he greeted them, trying to ignore the pit in his stomach. This felt like an official visit– what could it possibly be about? “Can I help you? Perhaps you’d like to come in and I can make you some tea?”

“Four courses? A man after my own heart,” Callista, tugging on the collar of his jacket a little and smiling as she leaned in to kiss him, “I’m starving.”

Her eyes twinkled as she opened the gift and she gasped in excitement when she saw the dress she had been talking about for months. “Liam… This is… Thank you,” she told the other and hugged him tightly.

While he had hoped the gift would go down well, the reaction that came from Camille was so much better than he could’ve anticipated. Liam hugged her back, unable to help the smile on his face as she seemed overjoyed at the dress. “I’m glad you like it,” he chuckled. “Thought since you couldn’t stop talking about it, it was about time you could finally add it to your collection.”

Julia snorted under her breath, pushing her hair behind her ears and out of her face as she walked beside her brother down the sidewalk in Hogsmeade. “You know that I would make it any time you’re free to have lunch with you. Don’t pretend you’re some creepy old man.” She rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. “Lunch sounds good. I’m starving.” 

“I mean how can I possibly know what you think of me inside that head of yours?” he joked, although he was glad she didn’t seem embarrassed or ashamed of him. “Perfect. You can choose where we go, my treat,” Liam added with a smile and a light nudge as they continued to walk along side by side.

“What, surprised I’d get you something?” Liam chuckled as he moved to give Camille a hug and handing her a gift. “Happy Birthday, Millie.”

Callista’s face flushed. After all these years, she still felt like a teenager whenever he complimented her, “Thank you,” She said, “And I could never say no to a home-cooked meal from my loving husband. I think it would be criminal to refuse.”

“I know it’s rare for me to have a spare moment and not be at the castle teaching these days but, you’re not embarrassed to be seen with me or anything right?” Liam teased with a slight chuckle. “If not I was thinking we could grab some lunch?”

“No, no, absolutely not. I’m not telling you how old I am today. I’d really rather not.”

“Should have thought of that earlier,” Theo said, “Working in a shop only goes so far when you’ve got a baby to provide for as well,” Perhaps the other didn’t know that Apolline was his actual daughter but he knew about his relationship with Natalie, everyone did now, it only made sense that he’d want to look after her too if the couple were living together.

“You’re full of cliches today aren’t you?” Callista teased and then she smiled at him, “It’s the best kind of nostalgia.”

“Some extra money on the side,” Theo joked, laughing with him.

“Yes, I do think she would have thrown a tantrum if we hadn’t,” Callista said with a small laugh, “Oh you work towards it do you? That’s good to know,” She rested her head on his shoulder, “I won’t lie though, it does make me feel a little nostalgic for our wedding. It was quite a spectacular day.”

Callista smiled, “What a romantic you are,” She teased, squeezing his hand, “It’s the same for me. Sure I loved the big white wedding that the little girl in me had always dreamed of but if we never had it, that would have been okay too. We’d still be us.”

“Maybe I should just offer to be officiant for them all. I am officially ordained now after all.”

“Very similar to our wedding in terms of the colour theme isn’t it?” Callista said to her husband in a teasing manner, “Very different couple though,” She added watching the newly-weds dance from where they stood, “Do you ever wish we’d gotten married sooner?” She asked curiously.
