Why is finding one photo from the Fastlife era so hard?
Someone saved so many photos of Joe that are not organized so I have to scroll through thousands of photos
July 28th marked 3 years since I started writing this fic. Missed it because I've been busy with life.
But I cannot believe I've been writing this fic for 3 years! Thats wild.
Also my godson turns 3 next week!
His birth coincides with when and partly why the Jonas fixation came back when it did because it happened while I was with his parents before he was born helping them out.
I am planning to come back soon HOPEFULLY
I have a draft of the next chapter written so maybe this week or next week I will return!
The next few chapters are gonna be a whirlwind because it all happens within a few months.
Also we're in the Fastlife era so a new pfp is overdue!
Mac appearing on Married to Jonas briefly and everyone at Gossip Buzz (Mac's former job) being like "I FUCKING KNEW IT"
why I mostly write one shots 😭 I don’t always remember all the details of the things I wrote in my previous chapters
Me with this fic lowkey
I only reread old chapters when I'm feeling nostalgic or yearning for Joe's dumbass (affectionate)

Blame It On the Alcohol
Summary: Joe and Mac run into each other at Mac's favorite bar.
Author's Note: This is TECHNICALLY the 69th chapter. I did not plan that it just happened and I am glad this is the next smut.
Words: 3,281
As soon as Mac entered Lucky Jack's, their stomach fluttered. It only did that around Joe, but he wasn't around, so they blamed their nerves. After weeks of flirting, Mac had finally mustered up the courage to ask Duke out for drinks.
"No Mike tonight?" Jack asked.
"Not tonight. I'm- I am meeting someone for drinks," they explained.
"Hope it's not another singer," Jack teased.
This song is giving post break up vibes
Messages and Confrontations
Summary: Joe confronts Alice and asks her point blank if she's cheating on him.
Words: 953
It was as if time slowed down after Mac had told Joe about Alice. He wasn't sure if it was the guilt about how he blew up at Mac or if it was the overthinking about every little thing Alice did or said. He regretted how he left things with Mac, but he couldn't help but put up his walls and get defensive. He didn't want to admit that he had a feeling something was going on with Alice. Forget the rumors and tabloid claims. Alice had been different since London and their relationship had been on rocky ground since. Granted, Joe couldn't completely blame her, but he had hoped that they could move past it, but as more time passed by they just couldn't. It was part of the reason he went to L.A. for as long as he did. He needed to clear his head and figure out if the relationship was worth continuing. Especially after telling Mac he wasn't sure if he loved Alice. Too much had happened in just a matter of a few months and he did not feel like he was equipped to process it all.
While Joe appreciated being able to stay with Alice while he was working in New York, as time passed he felt more like a stranger in her apartment. She had left her phone on the coffee table when she got up to get a snack from the kitchen. The screen lit up, grabbing Joe's attention. Letting his curiosity win, he grabbed her phone and looked at it. Several messages from Leo, including a photo he could not see.
"Hey, do you want-" Alice, having walked back into the living room, froze when she saw her phone in his hand. "What are you doing with my phone?"
Just Be Honest
Summary: Mac vents to Mikey and admits something they've been in denial about.
Author's Note: Welcome back to the Mac and Mikey show!
Words: 1,391
Since Mac had told Joe about Alice, they avoided each other. If Nick invited Joe over to watch a game or something, Mac would make plans with Mikey and make sure to be out of the apartment. It was a welcome change since Mac and Mikey hadn't seen much of each other since classes started up.
"So, tell me about Lisa." Mac had heard the name from Danielle, but had yet to ask Mikey about her.
"Dani told you, didn't she?" he asked.
"Of course she did. So is it serious?" she asked.
"I don't know yet. I mean I really like her, but- I think she likes keeping things casual," he replied with a shrug. "Are you still texting the Italian girl?"
Telling Joe
Summary: Mac tries telling Joe about Alice, but they end up getting into a fight and things are said.
Author's Note: As per my contract, Joe and Mac must get into a fight every few chapters.
Words: 1,041
Weeks felt like years as Mac waited for Joe to get back to New York. Even Mikey had seen the change in their demeanor, and he was the first person Mac had confided in about Alice. Fortunately they had the perfect opportunity to talk to Joe when he and Nick came back to the apartment after a Knicks game.
"How was the game?" Mac asked.
"We lost," Joe reported. "You should come next time."
"No, thank you. You know the only game I will willingly go to is baseball," they told him.
"How could I forget?" he asked.
"Hey did you check the mail today? I'm expecting a package," Nick explained.
"I think Marlin said there's something for you in the mailroom. I should have grabbed it. Sorry."
"I'll be right back." Nick left the apartment.

Asking for Advice
Summary: Mac asks Nick for advice regarding the cheating drama.
Author's Note: I promise Joe will find out next week.
Words: 518
It has been days since Mac last saw Alice. They had avoided Nick, afraid that they'd tell him before they got a chance to tell Joe. Not that they'd even made up their mind about telling Joe or not. Nick had noticed they'd been a bit more distant than normal.
"Mind if I join you?" he asked from the sliding door to the balcony. Sitting on the swing, Mac looked at him.
"Yeah. Sure." Moving over, they made room for him on the swing.
"So what's up?" he asked.
"You tell me," they replied. "What's up with you?"
"You know you're the first girl I've lived with?" he asked. Mac scoffed.
At the end of every month I used to post the statistics of the story like word count, x times Joe is written, real books I have surpassed in words, etc
I did it for myself but realized no one might care so I stopped
should I bring monthly statistics back?
Yes.
No, nerd
Heyo!
So I started writing this fic for myself as an escape when my mental health was REALLY bad in 2023
A few people on my main blog encouraged me to post it because I had written so much (have 200k+ words written in total)
And I would REALLY appreciate it if those who read it can let me know how they feel about it
You don't need to comment on every chapter
But PLEASE feel free to ramble in comments or send me an ask
Because I genuinely do love this story and love talking about it
Not Just a Rumor
Summary: Mac finds Alice cheating on Joe and threatens to tell him.
Author's Note: Oh shit.
Words: 896
Months had passed since Nick returned home. Mac and Nick rang in the New Year with a somewhat small party at the apartment. Life continued as normal. The family supported Nick during his return to Broadway. Mac and Alice's friendship had pretty much died out. They weren't sure why, but they weren't going to go out of their way to save it. Joe and Mac barely spoke to each other except for a passing greeting. He had flown back to Los Angeles to shoot a small role for Hot in Cleveland.
While on a coffee run for the office, Mac ran into Alice and one of her co-stars, Leo Paulsen, who looked far too cozy. Unsure of whether or not to approach and greet Alice, Mac tried ignoring her. There had been rumors about Alice and Leo, but as a former gossip writer, Mac knew better than to trust any out of context photos and any claims people made. However, there was no context to twist this time. Especially with how Leo fed Alice a pastry. As far as Mac knew, Joe and Alice were still together and they had to stand up for him. Unable to ignore Alice and Leo any longer, Mac approached their table.
I think a sitcom about Mac and Nick living as roommates would be so good.

Nick's Welcome Home Dinner
Summary: After Nick returns home, he and Mac throw a dinner, inviting Kevin, Danielle, Joe and Alice. Joe and Mac keep things a bit weird as usual.
Author's Note: I think a sitcom about Mac and Nick living as roommates would be so good.
Words: 1,120
Mac and Joe avoided each other since that morning at the apartment. Whether it was on purpose, or not was up for debate, but neither had spoken about it since. Mac also hadn't spoken to Alice since that morning either. So they were relieved to have Nick home again, especially with how quiet the apartment got after Franklin went back home. Nick loved the piano as expected and he played it every chance he got.
Mac wanted to throw a welcome home party, but Nick rejected the idea, suggesting a dinner with his brothers instead and their partners instead. Nick sat at the piano playing whatever came to mind and Mac was in the kitchen cooking. A knock on the door grabbed their attention.
"It's open!" Mac and Nick said in unison before looking at each other disgusted. They were spending too much time together. Kevin and Danielle walked in.
"We're here," Kevin announced.
Not Taking Sides
Summary: Joe shows up at Mac's apartment after a fight with Alice and he admits something out loud.
Author's Note: Gotta rock the boat, babeyyyy
Words: 1,342
"Mac! Mac, wake up!" Franklin's voice startled Mac awake. Immediately opening their eyes, they looked at him.
"Hey. Is everything okay?" they asked, panicked. "What's wrong?" They sat up.
"There's someone at the door," he explained, fear in his voice.
"What do you mean there's someone at the door?" they asked. That's when they heard it. The knocking. "What time is it?"
"Someone keeps knocking like that!" Franklin pointed at the door. "Do you guys have a gun?"
"No, but I've got a bat," they told him." Stay in here. Grab my phone in case we gotta call 9-1-1." Mac grabbed the bat they kept next to their bed and walked to the front door. The knocking was too loud for comfort. "Do you know what time it is?" they asked.
