“thank you,” seona tells the cafeteria worker as she grabs the tray of food off the counter. despite preferring her own homemade food, there are times when bringing lunch isn’t practical, especially if she doesn’t have time to pack it because of her busy schedule. legacy’s cafeteria food provided food isn’t the worst, at least it’s healthy. maybe a little on the bland side, but she can deal with that from time to time.
the weather’s been warming up, each day feeling nicer and nicer. seona wants to enjoy it before summer comes, making it impossible to stay outside for more than half an hour before sweating to death.
she walks over to the patio doors, pushing it open with her side and looking for a table to sit at. unfortunately, it seems like everyone at the company had the same idea as her, the tables full of staff or artists. seona looks around, trying to spot a familiar face that she could sit with. one of the other actors would be preferable, but some of her idol contacts surely wouldn’t mind letting her sit with them for lunch?
instead of spotting aeri, jino, or cherry, she spots someone else. jisoo. she stops in her tracks before passing by his table, debating whether or not she should approach. seona makes the decision that she’s been looking for a seat for too long, and she also doesn’t want him to think that she’s snubbed him if he sees her staring but instead of even greeting him, she just walks past.
“hi,” she says approaching him. there’s always an awkward air between the two of them when they’re in the same place at the same time. it’s a rare occasion, their schedules don’t really overlap and it’s not like the two hang out outside of work. seona still doesn’t know what exactly they are; friends, acquaintances, enemies? no, definitely not that last one. but still, jisoo confuses her and she doesn’t like that.
“mind if i sit? it’s popular outside and there’s no other seats available. well, maybe someone else would let me sit with them but i saw you first and i thought i would ask.” her hand grips the tray tighter. “no pressure though,” she reassures him. “if you’re busy or just want some alone time.”
jisoo is someone who always prefers indoors, air conditioned areas, but he supposes even he has to visit the outdoors from time to time when they boasted a seat with sun and breeze. alright, he didn't have a choice, there was literally one table freed up as someone had left just now, and he makes a brisk walk to it. "aha!" perfect. no wait. everything was lining up perfectly. he'd sat everything down and was about to prop up his phone to watch something whilst eating but he was interrupted by a voice. it's not a shock - they're in company territory and there's bound to be many a colleague or new trainee or staff around.
it feels like dejavu. they've been here before, facing off. is that the right term? not really. there's less sass in the introductory bit but he's sure there's a 50/50 chance that'll fade once they actually sit down. so he bites. they've been cordial with each other anyway... "i have enough alone time on a normal day, we're fine to eat together. take a seat, please," jisoo smiles. he'd only taken a seat moments earlier, having skated in to one of the few remaining available spots, so he understood that pressure. like, no, he's not taking this to go. it's not as if they had studios like some of the idols here.
"it's funny how we seem to run into each other seasonally." not that he's counting. "has it been years since we've filmed together? i can't believe it." maybe it did work its magic with them actually getting along more afterwards. the model is about to make a comment on their food choices, but he doesn't truly want to talk about food. "taking any holidays this year? or do you count work travel as 'vacation'?"
“thank you.” she breathes a sigh of relief as jisoo invites her to sit with him. seona wasn’t sure if he’d be receptive to the idea, she understands needing alone time and she understands why he wouldn’t want to eat with her. but they’ve patched things up and moved on even if the air about the two of them is awkward still. she places her tray down on the table first before sitting down, trying to get comfortable despite the uncomfortable metal beneath her.
“do we?” she asks, trying to think about the last time they had ran into each other. “i guess the last time i saw you was during the winter, and now spring?” seona laughs. “once a season’s enough i suppose. i don’t know if you’d be able to handle any more of me.”
“i haven’t planned anything yet. i want to go to the beach at some point, though,” the actress tells him. “it’s difficult to work around schedules, so sometimes if i have to go somewhere outside of seoul, or korea, for work i’ll make a day of it or something. i haven’t been able to travel recently, though. have you? did you go to fashion week? or has that not happened yet?” she asks him.
acting mission : BEGINNING & ENDING:
it’s not a long walk to the entrance of the party from the outside, but daeun still walks carefully making sure she doesn’t topple over in the heels she’s wearing. one hand clutches part of her dress lifting it up so it doesn’t drag on the ground. her other hand clutches a small purse, inside is where she keeps her phone, wallet, a compact and lipstick for touchups, and a small notepad and pen if she feels the need to write notes about anyone.
presenting her invitation to the person manning the door, she’s welcomed to the party without much fanfare. part of daeun thought that she might have gotten turned away, the doorman knowing what she was really here for. nevertheless, she thanks him and proceeds to walk further into the area where the party is being held, grabbing a champagne flute from one of the waiters passing by.
her eyes glance around the room, watching for someone that might catch her eye. bringing the champagne flute up to her mouth, she sips slowly. if one were to look at her closely, they would see her grimace as she drinks. daeun’s never liked champagne, the taste too bitter for her.
it’s not too early in the night where she would be looked at suspiciously for people watching. it’s plausible that she’s looking for a friend or a partner. daeun sees someone that looks interesting, a woman in a red dress getting a little handsy with a man that looks too old to be her husband. she finishes off the rest of her champagne and sets the empty glass down on a nearby table before walking over towards the unlikely couple, ready to eavesdrop on their conversation.

PROJECT WR AUDITION:
there wasn't much to prepare for this audition which strikes the actress as odd. a lot of things are odd when it comes to acting and auditions, so seona doesn't think much of it. she greets the casting committee with a bow and a broad smile before introducing herself.
"i'm baek seona, actress under legacy agency. the folder i've provided has a list of my past roles, accomplishments, and general information," she states, waiting patiently for what comes next.
"thank you seona," the director tells her. "we're going to have you improvise a scene, is that okay?" they ask, looking at her.
having to improvise doesn't surprise her, she expected it from the lack of other instructions given. she can't really prepare to improvise, but seona has done it enough times to feel comfortable. "of course." she gives the casting director and the rest of the panel a smile. while their words were phrased like a question, she knows she doesn't have a choice in the matter.
"great! well, show us what you'd do if you've discovered a clue. try to convince the others that it matters." the director leans back, crossing their arms. seona nods and closes her eyes for a moment, trying to get into character and think of how she'd like to go about this scene. she opens her eyes when she's ready, nodding again to signal she's about to start before she sits down in the chair provided.
"guys," she says furrowing her brows. her features twist as she tries to portray a character that's frustrated that no one is listening to her. "guys," she says, a bit louder this time and with a huff at the end of her sentence. "guys! shut up!" seona exclaims, rising to her feet, the chair falling down behind her. she slams her hands down on the table in exasperation, making sure to get everyone's attention this time.
"isn't anyone listening? i've got it figured out," she huffs, clearly angry at this point. seona walks around the table and points to something, pretending like there's a whiteboard or bulletin board with clues pinned across it. "do you see this here?" she asks, getting closer and 'touching' the piece of paper. "we've been looking at it all wrong. we were trying to find the meaning within the poem, or whatever this is supposed to be, but the real meaning is this." she grabs at the fake piece of paper, slamming her hand down on the table, mimicking as if she slammed the paper down.
"if you read the first letter of each sentence, it spells a word. look H O R S E S H O E. do you see? now we have to figure out what the significance of this word, horseshoe, is. it's obviously a code for something else, but," she sighs. "they wanted us to figure this out. it's all a game to them and we have to play. i think this is the first piece of the puzzle and we have to see what else we can find in the evidence. i'm sure it'll point us in the right direction as long as we look at it through a different lens." she looks back up in the direction of where the 'bulletin' board was, before bringing her attention back to the table. seona glances around at the other 'people' there, before standing straight and looking back over to the casting committee.
she bows, signaling the end of her audition. seona thanks everyone for their time and walks out of the room, feeling confident about her audition.

did anyone else watch seonny side up? there haven't been any new videos released in a while . . . i miss trying out new recipes but my favorite part was sitting down and eating while watching her. it made me feel like i wasn't eating alone TT now that i'm typing this out, that might make me seem odd but really, how many of us eat in just silence? ㅋㅋㅋ
does anyone know what happened? i know youtube channels, especially celebrity ones, just come and go but she had been posting for so long! it'd been a few years, at least. i really hope it's not the end and she brings it back sooner rather than later.
[ + / - ] i miss her channel! i used to watch it while eating too, don't worry you're not alone. seona if you're reading this, please bring seonny side up back!! [ + / - ] i think she's just taking a break from the channel? like you said, she was uploading for a long time. i wish there had been an announcement, but i would give it a little while longer before giving up hope. [ + / - ] i tried to watch one of her videos and couldn't get through it. her voice is grating and she was just copying the asmr trend and i'm sure she was stealing her recipes.

finally getting a chance to enjoy the spring weather
lgcseona
by slinking in the shadows for most of the night, daeun has gathered quite a bit of information, despite some of it not being the most useful. she now knows that the lady in red loves her martinis extra dry, but also that the man with the golden pocket square has been cheating on his wife. this amongst other tidbits of information have made this excursion worthwhile. does she tell the wife of his infidelity in hopes to cause a scene? only time will tell, depending on how bored daeun gets by the end of the night. she sighs, sipping on her own cocktail leaning on the edge of the bar. her eyes are always glancing around, shifting this way and that way as she sizes her targets up in her mind. daeun hears someone speak to her and she turns to face them, locking on to the other girl’s face and trying to think whether or not she knows them from somewhere. “daeun,” she says simply. there’s no need for specifics so she doesn’t provide her last name. “there’s something special about these parties.” her eyes glance back over to the crowd. “or maybe, there’s just something special about the people.” daeun turns back to jahye, looking at her with a smile.
there’s something so… off about these parties, that jahye has never fully noticed before. usually she’s chasing after some rich man, picking her target before the party even properly begins, but today’s target not showing up, leaves her… alone, letting her eyes wander over everybody, rather than just one person, and she realizes, she’s not the only one here with secrets, is she? she’s never properly noticed it before, but the people that join these parties, they’re rather… odd? is that the right word?
she finds herself in small talk with someone she doesn’t even know anything about, much unlike jahye. she usually “studies” up on her target, it makes them easier to seduce, but now she’s left at a party with people she doesn’t really know, nor does she know how to seduce these people, well, if that’s what she wants to do tonight. “well, i’ve never noticed before, but we are… very randomly mixed yet very specifically picked” she shrugs “i’m not sure if that makes sense” she hums.
“what brings you here” she smiles to the other “daeun” she adds.
daeun has always been cautious at these events. she’s sure she’s not the only one here with an ulterior motive. sure, some people are here to party and have a good time. it’s more likely, though, that the majority of them have a specific task they set out to accomplish.
“well, i was invited.” she’s suspicious of jahye, so she tries to keep the conversation light. daeun smiles and takes a sip of her drink. “i’m not one to turn down an invitation to the hottest social event of the season. i assume you’re here on an invitation too? unless somehow you managed to sneak in?” she tilts her head as she questions the other girl.
“i know that’s not what you wanted to hear,” daeun says with another chuckle. “but i am here to have a good time. what about you?”
delivered note - acting mission
the party’s in full swing now due to the abundance of alcohol, many individuals letting their guards down. it’s good for daeun, it’s what she wants. she wants to see who gets sloppy, obtaining as much information from the guests as she can, especially what kind of behaviors they present.
it’s easy to spot who’s in love, especially when it’s forbidden. long, forlorn glances giving true intents away. it’s even easier to spot who’s in a bad mood, how their fingers clasp so tightly around their glasses their knuckles turn white.
someone in a tuxedo approaches her and she smiles politely even though she’s ready to turn them away, not looking to have a conversation as her current target in the red dress seems to be booking it to the other side of the room. there’s no conversation to be had, though, as the man discreetly slips her a note. daeun almost doesn’t registered what’s happened at first, but the feel of the folded piece paper in her hand makes her glance down in intrigue.
daeun continues to keep an eye on the woman in the red dress, carefully unfolding the note. she doesn’t want to attract too much attention to herself, her eyes glancing down lazily. she wonders what it is, and she soon discovers it’s not good news.
‘someone’s watching you.’
she frowns, body stiffening as she feels a rush of emotions flow through her. her eyes dart around trying to find the person who slipped her the note, but they’re long gone. daeun no longer focuses on the woman in the red dress, and instead she glances around the room, trying to slow her breathing as she feels anger rising.
who could be watching her? more importantly, why is someone watching her. her eyes narrow as they settle on someone on the opposite side of the room as her, the stranger has a devilish grin despite being found out. it seems as though they wanted daeun to figure out they were watching her, but why?
she balls her hand into a fist, effectively crumpling the note. she’ll get to the bottom of this before the night is over, and step one is to figure out who this person is and why they’re interested in her.
you call this a party?
there is clear disappointment in jahye’s eyes today, her so-called “target” is nowhere to be seen, and it leaves jahye wondering; what now? there’s the possibility of going after someone else, or simply admitting defeat, that today, isn't her day. she stands in silence at the moment, a glass of champagne in her hand. she’s went to the bathroom a million times today, to constantly fix her hair and make up, but it leaves her with the question, who is she dressing up for? it isn’t herself, because jahye thinks she looks good no matter what she wears, and the one she came here for, isn’t here for her to impress.
“the party feels like any other party, yet different, don’t you think?” she turns around to look at someone, deciding to start a conversation to stop the many thoughts running in her head, and hey, if she’s lucky, whoever she’s standing in front of now is rich. “ah, i apologize for starting the conversation like that, perhaps i should introduce myself?” she leans her head to the side, playful smile sitting on her lips, “tha name is jahye, or han jahye if you wanna be specific” she shrugs “and you?”.

bon appetit ✨
a party to commemorate the end of a series. well, season two of a series. this wasn’t necessarily the end of martine corp, was it? the announcement that the show was being rebooted was welcomed news to her, especially since ahn minyoung was the star of this season.
seona sits next to jino, manicured nails tapping the glass in a rhythm that only she knows. she’s barely listening to what’s going on around her, voices muffled as she zones out, thinking about when the night will be over when his voice brings her out of her stupor.
“hm?” she says, leaning over a bit to hear the tail end of his question more clearly. she puts two and two together and shakes her head before a devilish smile crosses her lips. “you want me to get drunk and make a fool out of myself so you look better?” seona teases, making eye contact. she’s joking, obviously. but if she were earlier in her career, the act of getting a fellow cast member drunk to make herself look better would be up her wheelhouse.
“i had one when the party started, but i’ve cut myself off,” she tells him. “for now.”
jino’s tongue immediately clicks, a laugh extending his merry jest. “ah, you caught me there. i can’t be the only one making a fool out of myself.” and knowing jino, it was almost 95% determined that he would be making a fool of himself that very night. it was not a matter of if, it was a matter of when.
he had already messed up a few times when pouring drinks for his fellow crew and cast; and then some when he had clumsily begun accepting one too many drinks despite knowing he had a horribly low tolerance when it came to alcohol.
though no where near drunk, his buzzed state was hard to miss. “one? just one and you’re saying you can’t have another? and here i thought i was the only lightweight. i’m at four and i think now would be the perfect cut off.” his hand on his water like a shield as he spies another one of the producers try to make their way to him with a raised bottle of soju in hand only to backpedal and turn to a different member of the cast. “did you think of what you’re gonna say?” he asks, indicating the speech the director had asked them to make earlier on before the dinner party had began. “i thought about winging it but i decided to write a few things in case i forget.” his index finger taps the breast pocket of his shirt where the notes lay.
”i could have another,” she tells him, lips parting to form a smile. “but i’m not a fan of making a fool out of myself. i wouldn’t consider myself a lightweight, but,” seona’s eyes glance around at the various drinks available, temptation rising. “someone offers you a drink, then another comes, then another. it’s easy to go from one to two to three in a split second. i’d rather cut myself off now, before my speech, and then let loose after when there’s less to worry about.” she laughs.
”i did think about what i was going to say.” seona tells him. “probably too much,” she confesses with a laugh. “but at the end of the day, how much is there to say? thank you to this and that person for whatever they did. i’m grateful for the opportunity, i had such an amazing time, blah blah blah.” she shakes her head, letting out a sigh. “i think that’s what they expect from us. do you have anything revolutionary written down?” she raises an eyebrow, looking at him curiously.
martine corp | final meeting
how do you feel about the reception of the drama?
”can i be honest here?” seona tilts her head as she asks the question. she knows honesty, especially her sort of honesty, is looked down upon in a lot of cases, but she feels like it’s necessary to state how she’s feeling at the moment. “overall, i’m a bit disappointed. the ratings were lower for the second season of martine corporation. i guess that makes sense, people aren’t going to switch on the television to watch the second season of a show they haven’t watched before, but still, the ratings weren’t great.” she sighs. “i’m pleased with my performance, though. i gave it my all and truthfully i don’t think the acting or the script was the issue. maybe it was just the wrong time to release a comedy?”
how was your experience working with the cast and staff?
“it was a good experience. i enjoyed being alongside my fellow actors from legacy agency. it’s easier when you already know the people you’re working with. a lot of the staff from the first season came back around too, so conversations overall were much easier to have. everyone was, well, actually, let me rephrase.” she pauses for a brief moment, laughing. “everyone on the surface at least, you’re never really sure what’s going on underneath, was pretty nice and easy-going. there weren’t any fights or tension, at least not that i was aware of.”
is there anything you want to improve on before your next project? ( only for actors )
“i’d like to think i’m constantly improving myself,” she says with a chuckle. “i think i’ve said already, maybe not in this meeting, but definitely in a past one, that creating ahn minyoung and being a part of the story’s production, even just if it’s in a small way, has challenged me as an actress.” in the past few years of her life, seona’s attitude towards her work has changed drastically. acting is no longer just a means to an end, a way to put her pretty face to work. she’s become more enthralled in the process, more willing to learn and better herself. she enjoys it. now more than ever.
“i want to improve on my creativity. i don’t like to overstep when it comes to productions, i don’t like to challenge the director or writer’s views, but i would like to become more confident in my abilities to suggest ideas that i think will do well. i think i’ve come far enough in my career now that my ideas will be,” she pauses for a moment, frowning. “should be,” she corrects herself. “taken seriously.”
“of course, there are obstacles to these things, and i’m not saying i want to be a director or writer myself, i think that’s a little far-fetched for a goal.” she chuckles. basically what i’m saying is that i want to improve on things that are beyond just reading a script and acting.”
what do you think made this production unique compared to your past projects ( if any )?
“i think overall, martine corporation is unique because of its genre. it was my first attempt at comedy, and i think i did well. it was also the first time i was able to co-create a character, which was very meaningful to me. even if she never returns, ahn minyoung will always hold a place in my heart. i think the ad-lib scenes are also something that were unique to this production. in comparison to my other works, overall martine corporation is just more fun. a lot of the other dramas i’ve been a part of, like bullet inquiry and black banquet, are darker and more mysterious. this was a light-hearted venture, and it really helps to break up the genres between projects. it also challenged me somewhat, but in a good way as i’ve grown a lot and feel more well-versed.”
what kinds of roles would you like to try next? ( only for actors )
“maybe a romance?” seona raises her brow, partly because she’s not sure of her answer and partly because she can’t believe what’s come out of her mouth. baek seona and romance don’t belong in a sentence, but still the sentences seem to be forming themselves. “it’s a genre i haven’t tried yet. comedy? check. detective? check. dark mystery? check.” she laughs. “truthfully, i don’t know if i’d enjoy it. there have been times where my character had a sub-romance role, but nothing major. like my first drama, in bullet inquiry, there was a sub-romance plot with my character. it felt, honestly a bit weird, but that was my first drama. everything was bound to feel a bit weird.”
“i want to challenge myself. i don’t want to be type-cast. there are roles and genres i prefer, yes,” she nods alongside her statement. “who doesn’t have something they prefer? but as they say, we only live once, right?” seona chuckles. “i want to prove that i’m not a one-trick pony. i also want a lot lot of different experiences under my belt so i look better to casting directors. i want to be able to do everything, and do everything well.”
ONE LAST HURRAH ⋆ @lgcseona 、
and the end comes in a bout of cheers, bouquets and smoke — and a party. a good party is always fun, especially when it’s a party made to commemorate the conclusion of a project. toasting among colleagues at the wrap party was a sacred event. and while he was told to be on his best behavior, jino thought, isn't his behavior in general considered his best behavior, anyways? so, with a sip of the water — craftily deflecting any extended amounts of alcohol that had been offered his way — he tips his head over to his seatmate, glancing at her own empty glass, “no liquid courage for you today?”

━━ love month 2k26◞ not my name.· ( @lgcaeri )
acting, acting, acting. it’s her specialty, but even seona can get tired of the repetitiveness of the job. at least she’s not on set for hours upon hours, this new project taking less of her precious time.
she’s smiles at aeri across from her, fingernails tapping on the side of her cup in a rhythm only she knows. “friendship, huh,” she muses, nodding. “easy task for us i suppose, with how much time we’ve been spending together lately,” the actress says with a laugh.
“well, i guess let’s get the basics out of the way first for the skit. names would be a good place to start, maybe jobs, how our characters know each other,” she looks down at her notepad, the page blank for now. “do you have any thoughts?”
every time it was love month in legacy, aeri was always curious what idea the company would think of to celebrate the month. this year though, she was surprised to find out that they weren’t simply going to take some photos for the polaroids but also include a clip showcasing love in the form of a short.
“mhmm, that shouldn’t be too hard.” aeri said lightheartedly, agreeing with seona’s words. “i think the hardest part would be trying to express that in less than three minutes.” she admitted as she grabbed her notepad nearby in hopes that she could help jot down some ideas.
an idea popped into her mind, something she’d heard before. “what if our characters were roommates? not close at first, but polite toward each other. then one day, one of them has to list an emergency contact and, almost without thinking, writes down her roommate’s name. after that, they start showing up for each other more and more.” she reflected on her idea for a moment, wondering if it was enough to convey a meaningful friendship in such a short time.
”i agree, it’s a short timeframe. i wish we could have done something longer, but,” seona shrugs. “we do what we’re told i guess. its a challenge but i think we’re both up to it,” she says with a smile.
“that’s a great idea!” seona tells her. “what i’m thinking, maybe, we have a sequence of clips put together, 30 seconds each? the first one where one of them fills out a form to apply for a roommate. another clip where they’re moving in and things are awkward. next they can be seen sharing a meal together and it’s still awkward, but they’re starting to feel comfortable with each other. finally, it could end with one of them getting a new job and having to fill that form out. she thinks really hard, but in the end she writes down her roommates name and smiles,” the actress pitches her idea to aeri.
“what do you think? is that feasible?”

acting, acting, acting. it’s her specialty, but even seona can get tired of the repetitiveness of the job. at least she’s not on set for hours upon hours, this new project taking less of her precious time.
she’s smiles at aeri across from her, fingernails tapping on the side of her cup in a rhythm only she knows. “friendship, huh,” she muses, nodding. “easy task for us i suppose, with how much time we’ve been spending together lately,” the actress says with a laugh.
