a surprising past confession, with @hyuntaelgc
finally, a time to hang out and let loose just a little bit, and hangyul was rather pleased. the two of them find themselves strolling along the street, both of them in attempt to figure out the perfect locating to have their little makeshift picnic.
it was all prepared by hyuntae, which left hangyul to remember to bring the things like drinks and blankets to sit on so their clothes didn't get dirty. and hangyul recalls the perfect place to have a picnic - han river, and thus the two of them made their way there.
the weather wasn't cold, there was a warmth in the air but it wasn't too hot that they couldn't cope. it was a nice temperature, perfect for their picnic. so when they pick their designated spot, hangyul throws out the blankets and ushers hyuntae to sit down, taking the food he had prepared off his hands as he kneels. "so, what did you actually bring? because i have no clue but i can smell something and it smells really good."

from the moment hangyul joined legacy and became a trainee, it was safe to say he was intrigued by certain people. over the years, he's seen some trainees come and go, he's seen people debut and make it, he's seen difficult times - he's seen it all, even if he hasn't experienced it himself. but jieun was someone who intrigued him, she was older than him and simply because of that, he wanted to befriend her.
so he did.
they had things in common, having started on the idol path before merging onto the acting path. even though hangyul wasn't on the acting path yet, he would be one day, and befriending people who were moving to the acting path was something he did want to do. he wanted to have friends who had the same interests as him, who's goals were the same. besides, being a social butterfly, any friend he could make would put a smile on his face.
besides, maybe one day he would end up co-workers with them too.
despite their schedule differences, hangyul finds some time to spare to tell jieun the exciting news that he knows she would be just as excited as him. he comes with a treat, a healthy smoothie from one of his favorite smoothie places as he finds a seat beside her. "guess who's joining the acting path soon." he doesn't beat around the bush, too excited to share the news as he holds out the smoothie with a big beam.
there were only a few people jieun genuinely liked. it's not like she had anything against most of them, it was simply a lack of interest in their lives. hangyul's bright disposition, however, broke the invisible wall she kept between her and other trainees when she joined the company. good, she thinks, because later she found out they had a lot more in common than she could guess, and the young man became someone she truly cared about.
so after the fittings with the stylist to decide what she'd be wearing in those year-end events, the actress is happy to find some time to see her friend. looking up when she spots him, she can only manage to part her lips and raise her eyebrows in surprise. "what do you mean 'soon'?" she lets out a small laugh, taking the smoothie in her hands. "thanks! so uh- when did you decide to change paths?" it's something she knew would happen sooner or later but the fact it was finally happening surprised her a bit.
maybe it's not that obvious on her face or tone, but the fact jieun is asking questions and smiling genuinely at him means she is excited about the news. soon they would be signed under lgc agency and there was a good chance they would work together. "i mean, tell me everything. i've been waiting for the day this would happen!" she grins, finally taking a sip of her smoothie.
when hangyul set his mind to something, he made it possible. he was a pretty determined guy, so when he made it a mission to befriend jieun, he didn't give up, and he's happy that now he's able to call jieun one of his friends. for someone who's such a social butterfly, it felt like another achievement. and he gained a new friend, so it was like killing two birds with one stone.
despite him still having been in the idol path all this time since he joined legacy, he still liked to reach out to jieun even though she was in the acting path, seeing how she was doing and seeing how things were. call it the curiosity in him with how things were in the acting path and what they were all up to, and perhaps it was a little way to live through her until he was finally able to switch paths. but now, he finally has the exciting news to share with her and something he was looking beyond forward to. hangyul laughs at the expression on her face, extending his legs out in front of him as he replies. "like, in january. it was always my goal from the moment i joined, i always knew i wanted to be in the acting path, but i didn't want to rush the journey there. so i decided to take my time, until i felt like i was confident enough in my skills."
he laughs at her excitement for him, pleased that she was just as excited as him. it was something he was waiting for and now that the day he'd officially be switching paths was slowly approaching, it felt like a big sigh of relief. "what do you want to know?" hangyul asks, giving her a soft nudge as he points to the smoothie for a split second. "by the way, is it good? do you like it?" the smile on his face widens slightly as he takes a deep breath and sighs. "i spoke to the staff about it a couple weeks or so ago, and it got processed, so you'll be seeing a lot more of me next month. or next year."

have we met before?

back when hangyul lived in jeju, he had quite a few friends. not that he remembered them, he was pretty young back then but he knows he was a social butterfly even from that early age. even to this day, he kept in touch with some of his childhood friends through his parents, considering they were more friends with the parents, his mom would sometimes mention how the parents and kids he was friends with were doing. it feels like a different lifetime thinking back to his life in jeju, knowing he lived there and now here he was, living in seoul and a trainee at legacy in hopes that one day he'll get to debut as an actor and be able to show people the various sides he could do.
what surprises him even more though, is when he found out that aeri lived in jeju too. and what surprised him even more was when he found out just how close they actually lived to each other, yet never knew. here they are, at present, both under legacy entertainment. who would have thought?
he hadn't had much of an opportunity to talk to aeri about their close ties, so when he spots her in one of the practice rooms as he walks by, he doesn't hesitate to knock on the door, a big grin expressed across his face as he opens the door. "so you're telling me, there's a possibility that we met when we were younger and lived close to each other and we only just recently found out?" hangyul asks with a tone of disbelief and amusement, lingering by the door.
