"Hm. I suppose you're right. Style was clearly the priority of our directors here. I can't say I blame them if we're going to work together. We may as well have a powerful vehicle at the ready." Even if she preferred bikes to cars, it wasn't as if she couldn't drive a car if pushed. Such was the nature of her position. Being versatile, flexible, and reliable were all aspects that contributed to her reputation as a hunting ace. Why, despite her misgivings, they had her meet this brittish national in the Tokyo Airport rather than her very own city of demons. Proof of importance, perhaps? The attack on the embassy was terrible enough without the possibility of things getting worse through bad rapport and this woman being attacked for investigating alongside her in the osaka prefecture. For reasons probably unknown outside the country itself.
And then came the looks Terra gave her. For a woman of 6'4, and as densely built as she was, Yoshika had long accepted the idea that she'd never really look like her own here in Japan. The kind of aspects that set her apart would always put her above in some aspects and below in others. At least in other people's eyes. What she saw in Terra's? The look of someone who completely removed her from the idea of being human in the first place. Not surprising. But she wasn't about to entertain the idea. Instead, keeping her voice low, calm and inquisitive.
"We can talk on our way to the lot. What have they told you so far? Jurisdiction? Parameters, time limit, accomodations?" Granted, it tended to be hunter logic to care about these things, but then when in Rome. So Yoshika waited to hear what she had to say before taking to opening the mustang trunk. A heavy case of her own slung over her shoulder.
Her voice was... A surprise, to say the least; her voice, deep enough to match the size of her frame, and yet still deceivingly feminine. It was enough to make Terra's head spin, that was for sure.
Her English was spot-on, too, which was a surprise for the cop. She expected at least something to go wrong.
They were ready to move, though; long, powerful strides taken that Terra almost had to jog to keep up with. Was it just her, or was the air thinner here than back home?
It was going to take some personal adjustments, that was for sure.
There was the standard questioning; a nod was given in response to her questions, phone pulled out of her pocket to pull up some emails sent to her on the way.
╰┈➤ ❝ Right, 'course; we've gotta get this wrapped up within a week. Even that's pushin' it for time, given their attack and the citizens rising up. ❞
Back home, people had already begun to riot, wanting information and answers; a week was all they could be afforded, though the sooner it was done, the better the reward.
╰┈➤ ❝ Full execute authority in the field; sanctioned by both the Japanese and UK governments. Gotta make a report in at zero-nine-hundred and twenty-one-hundred each day. ❞
For once, Terra was hoping there wouldn't be any bloodshed to end this story. That they'd be in and out before the situation got any worse.
That case was likely heavier that Terra herself; a small yelp of surprise given as it slammed into the back. Her own case, tiny in comparison, slotted in nicely next to Yoshika's larger gear.
Her standard equipment still strapped to her side, Terra would give the hunter a shrug as she gazed at the front of the car.
╰┈➤ ❝ I've got a hotel set up near the Osakan prefecture itself; 5 stars, naturally. A room for one but beds for two, I was told, if you're catching my drift. Unless you've made your own plans? ❞
There was a small skip along as Terra got the keys for the car; her rear wagging with each step, chest bouncing lightly. Sometimes, it was nice to be viewed in such a way.
Certainly not all the time, but Terra had her moments.
╰┈➤ ❝ Alright; we rockin' and rollin', partner? Here's to us-- ❞
She'd hold her fist out for a fistbump.
╰┈➤ ❝ --And the case! You know what time it is~ ❞
Was that a Limp Bizkit reference in 2024? Perhaps, who knows what timeline Terra's on right now. Without a second thought she'd jumped into the drivers seat, key stuffed into the ignition, foot revving the pedal to hear her beast roar.
Without a doubt, that'd be a reference the wolf wouldn't be getting any time soon. Not that it mattered. She could fistbump terra in hopes of a decent hunt and leave it at that.
However, a human in Osaka did present some concerns, especially with that kill order in play. It could certainly present issues if those Yoshika usually handled suddenly ended up seeing them as a threat.
"Funnily enough Osaka is my own home territory...well, jurisdiction. I've got a place in the city if need be, but I'll take your lead for now." Better than using her apartment for something like this when it likely would take them all over the whole prefecture.
She was also...not exactly coy to the pep in Terra's step. Was she...flaunting before she started driving? Hard to say, and probably harder still to waste time asking. All Yoshika knew was this; Failure to complete this hunt may end up ruining more than just relations between both nations. Maybe even how they lived would be up for debate in time.
"We should probably start making a plan of action once we're at the hotel. Do we know what we're looking for at least?"

╭──╯ . . . .. . . . ╰──╮
It wasn't everyday that Terra got to partner with someone; much less someone from Japan. It was a rare chance for the British-born Cop to fly international on business, a joint investigation put in place between the United Kingdom and Japan itself.
Everything that happened over the past day wasn't normal for her. If she'd ever considered there to be a God above, Terra would have considered all of her luck be put into this one moment.
36 hours ago, British Ultranationalists attacked a Japanese Embassy; inside, an English businessman met with a Japanese contact, looking to discuss matters of national importance to both countries. To those that were looking to undermine their relations, the masses were convinced it was to do with drugs and human trafficking; both topics of current importance.
The meeting was leaked from within, with both nations suffering losses as the embassy were blown up; England, quick to look into the matter to ensure nothing further happened to the reputation between them both, sent Terra overseas to Japan to meet with Japan's own "Hunter".
A woman, from the briefing. One of Japan's best, from what Terra were told. Stern, cold, collected; taller than she was by several inches. Black hair, dark red eyes...
╰┈➤ ❝ Yoshika... Yow... Shee... Kah? Is that how you do Japanese names? ❞
It had no image attached; a shy sort, Terra figured, as slender fingers flicked through the briefing folder. It was with a sigh she'd lean back into her chair, eyes glancing outside to the world below.
Japan was finally coming into view; private jet's really did make flying easier. Towers and buildings below blurring together as she flew overhead at blistering speeds, the ground slowly becoming recognizable as the aircraft began its steady decent. The cost of this, though, wasn't something Terra wanted to consider. Just another piece of anxiety to add onto the growing list.
What was Yoshika like? Would she be cooperative, or was Terra going to have to do the legwork on her own? Would they even show up to the airport, as designated in the paperwork?
The glass of wine - Chardonnay - sat full in the holder besides her, the cop circling the rim of the glass with a painted fingernail. She wanted to look her best for such a short-trip notice.
Normally, she wouldn't hesitate to have a drink to relax, but relaxation felt so far away right now. Her mind, already racing with ideas and suspects, was far too wired to consider alcohol a fix to her problems.
With the plane landing, Terra would step off into the warm-but-cool ground of Tokyo Airport, hand resting on her hip as glasses were slipped off her face, the arm pushed into her blouse to hold them steady.
╰┈➤ ❝ So much for Japan being as cold as home, huh? Alright, Yoshika, where you at... ❞
Across the tarmac and inside the Airport itself; ushered in via a downstairs VIP door. Truly, her Government spared no expense to get Terra in quickly; a bomb search was conducted, her firearm inspected and passed back.
She really didn't expect to get that through the door.
Heading upstairs to ◤General Arrivals◢, Terra's eyes scanned the crowds; a smaller number than, again, anticipated. Was this the Japanese Government's work to reduce numbers here...?
Her time for conjecture was over, however abrupt it were, as violet eyes settled in on the only person that could be her new comrade-in-arms.
Tall, long black hair, dark red eyes, and...
Those muscles. She clearly worked out; Terra, in comparison, was fairly lean. She could hold her weight, for sure, but this woman was something else.
"A true Tyrant, huh? Sweet Jesus, what does she bench... Easily my weight."
Her first thought was to shrink away into the non-existent crowd; but that wouldn't do her any favors. Nor could she treat this stranger how she'd originally intended; friendly with a slice of British charm.
╰┈➤ ❝ You've gotta be my contact; Yoshika, right? Name's Terra, at your service. ❞
A flash of the badge at her hip was hopefully all she'd need; a brief recall of the mission file said that Yoshika could speak English, right? Maybe her own accent made it hard to pick up on her words, or perhaps it sounded like slang?
A quick bead of sweat formed on her upper brow, smile shakily fading as she got up close. She'd been given a translator to use - speech to speech, which was a blessing - though Terra was hoping not to use it so early.
She had to be confident; this woman oozed confidence out of her body like an aura, her stature and stance nothing short of powerful. Terra was, for the most part, glad this woman was on her side.
Tilting her head upwards to get a proper look at Yoshika's face, the human - she couldn't consider Yoshika human, not at that height - would take a step backwards to properly take her partner in.
╰┈➤ ❝ I appreciate you pickin' me up; apparently the rental car's not far from here, either. Can you believe they've got us ridin' in style? ❞
First rule of being confident; fake it until you make it. Thus, Terra would stride off in the direction she hoped was vehicles. A particular model waiting for the both of them, though it was of Terra's request that they got a state-of-the-art Mustang.
Was Yoshika authorized to drive? Did she have a license? Terra was confident in her driving, to be sure, but perhaps the Japanese native would want to cruise her own roads?
It would be something to discuss once they got there, for sure. Plenty more conversation to be made on the road, too; like how she got so big, what a hunter was, her speculations for the case.
There was a lot Terra didn't know about her partner, but there was one thing she was certain on.
They'd crack this, together, and with each others help, put this madness behind both countries.
"Hm. I suppose you're right. Style was clearly the priority of our directors here. I can't say I blame them if we're going to work together. We may as well have a powerful vehicle at the ready." heart of wolves - Reine to X'iido (goodxdog)
It was a bit hard for her to explain how she felt about this situation. Relieved? Unnerved? Aside from the expected fatigue that would cause her to be opened up to this sudden closeness, it came off as...considerate. Downright deferential even. Was the warrior of light so important that others would lick her wounds for her? Hard to say, but she lacked the understanding to stop Reine anyhow.

Current events reviving my jalter muse? Surprisingly true.
Gonna be honest, it kinda sucks that I've been demotivated to do stuff here considering the sheer 'there's a wall between us' vibe I get half the time. Plus my job and streaming kinda eat up my day to day, I just really wanna connect with my mutuals more.
Worse still is having motivation and negativity issues that are obvious to people I care about and it kinda just derails everything. Can't say it's something I intent and I apologize for it.
