I was able to get 12.5 hours out of a 20lb propane tank by the running meter with the air conditioner on all the time but cycling on and off at night. With gasoline, you could get 4-5 hours per tank. With a 5 gallon can of gas, I got about 22.5 hours.

I like plugging in propane at night because of the long run time so I don't have to wake up and refuel. I can also hook it up to my trailers, 30lb tanks, and run it all weekend without having to stop. I modified the propane connection to work with my trailer's low-pressure connection so I can get 60lbs of propane to work by purchasing a quick coupler and 2 propane hose adapters.

I broke it down with the suggested oil in part and mixed loads and then changed the oil before putting it into service with the trailer. Changing the oil is SUPER easy because they designed it to simply pull a hose into your oil sump to drain and then refill. The dipstick is also good for making sure you have used enough oil. This was a much better experience on my Yamaha where you have to tilt it to get all the oil out and it gets dirty in the generator if you fail.

I already have a Yamaha 2000is, but it wasn't enough to drive the trailer. I could have bought another one with the parallel kit for the same price as this one, but chose this one because I could add a parallel kit and second generator for a bigger trailer in the future. This is necessary as my wife is not in the trailer without air conditioning for most of the year.

As for sound, this one on ECO was about the same volume as the one on Yamaha at full throttle. This sounded a little louder, but in the end, once you get into the trailer it was good and sounded like a background hum. They are generators and they are loud when you try to sleep outside but in the trailer, they are as loud as a fan. I passed mine next to our room to see if he ran off in the middle of the night. Compared to a contractor's contractor, this whispers and you can talk about it quite easily. Most camps don't allow them after 10 pm, but I've had a few places where I've used it for days.

Not sure if they just lubed the plug or something, but there was oil in the generator and air filter before it worked. However, I need to speak to a more experienced technician. quiet; It has an automatic shut-off if the oil is low or if you try to draw too much current. The price is right and running on propane is better for the engine, although it has slightly less power than gasoline. you have to do your stats on the team you plan to run it. THD is, as expected, very low for an investor. We have a brand new oven which means more electronics etc. and the manufacturer claims they need the lower THD that this appliance supplied.

Dislikes:

I wish there was more room in the battery compartment. very full. The manual is not clear about using propane as I did, with a long hose. Maybe most people don't do this? I don't remember the manual saying that the diaphragm had to be dry. This is really very important. I would like to see an oil level gauge and a power meter on the panel. The ground pole on the panel would not allow a 6AWG connection, it is too small. I had to use a 10 AWG wire to connect to the 6 AWG.

I really like this generator. I bought it almost two years ago for my off-grid camp. It starts easily and is very reliable. I run it continuously except when I turn it off to refuel. When I first got it worked for about 40 hours in the first month and then it died and stopped working even after several phone calls to tech support. They decided to replace it with a new one, and the new one has worked fine ever since. This unit has now run for approximately 1500 hours. Recently the fuel consumption deteriorated, then it would not start. I discovered that the spark arrester needed cleaning. and when you took care of that it worked like new again.

It usually runs for about 17 hours on a full tank and that includes running a small electric fridge, turning on and charging the backup batteries, and all other normal 120V tasks. It runs my power tools and even a 1.5 hp pancake air compressor without any problems. The microwave and coffee maker make it that much harder work. It is very quiet, reliable and easy to transport. I'll buy another one to pair with this one to keep the air conditioning working. It is very quiet and I have to consciously monitor it to make sure it works. I would have given it 5 stars if the first hadn't died, but the replacement came quickly and I've been happy with it ever since.

I am very happy with this purchase. I would like to point out that you should carefully consider your needs before going this route. I bought this particular generator because I wanted one that would connect directly to my existing home electrical system through the 240V outlet on the generator, in addition to the clean energy benefits of an inverter. I also wanted it to be quiet, or at least quieter than the conventional generator we had. This Champion replaces an old, noisy, inverter-less generator that I no longer trust with the increasing number of electronics in the house, including a new oven. There aren't many affordable 240V inverter generators like the Champion 6250. The only other large inverter generator I know of is the Honda EU7000iS, but it costs over $5,000 and is out of my price range. bottom line; There is no such thing as a quiet, powerful, low distortion, cheap generator, so you need to weigh your trade-offs carefully.

In particular, it is possible to buy two small inverter generators for about the same money and use a kit in parallel to combine them into a power source of about the same wattage. Those smaller closed units are quieter and lighter than the open frame unit, but they won't produce 240V; only 120V. In my case, I could live without the 240V capability if you're not using AC. But I wanted to use my existing wiring panel, interlock, headbox and L14-30 cable without modification. If you're willing to let an electrician make a few adjustments, you may be able to do the multi-unit trick. (UPDATE: It is highly unlikely that you can safely make such a change legally. If you are making multiple small units, you will need to install extension cords in your home. Multiple unit combinations seem to be designed for RVs).

1. The Champion website really helped me evaluate models and understand the features. I need a model with a floating neutral electrical system or that can be modified to work that way. I was able to easily find a clear description (with pictures) of the simple customization process required for this particular generator in the customer service section of the Champion website. (This information is surprisingly hard to find, or just not available, on the other brand's websites I checked.)

2. Amazon stated a delivery time of eight days, but it actually arrived within four days. The box packaging had many foam pads and cardboard panels to protect the entrails.

3. Assembly was easy and can be done by one person. The device costs more than 100 pounds. but it is very well balanced; Once it's out of the box it's easy to tilt it to the sides needed to access it to remove the shipping brackets and install the wheels. Once mounted, be careful not to tilt it up too far with the handle. After mounting I tilted it too far (60 degrees or more) and it reached its inflection point and abruptly went vertical. The hinged handle doesn't help with weight control once it gets to that point. But you should never tilt the generator that far because there is usually gasoline in the tank and it will spill.

4. There are some minor issues with the instructions, but nothing major. Overall, these are the best generator instructions I've ever had. The only important point is that the generator engine has a reusable foam air filter. The manual states that the filter needs to be lubricated, but does not mention this in the installation process. It's also not mentioned in the Quick Start Guide; only in the maintenance area. I didn't realize that until I did the first oil change at 5 am. (Next oil changes after this break-in period are after 50 hours.) So the generator ran without oil for the first 5 hours, which I don't think is a big deal, but I wish I had it.

5. About the first oil filling; Reading reviews from other buyers worried me about making a mess and I was much more careful than I normally am. The reference in the instruction to "37.2 ounces" led me to believe that exactly 37.2 ounces were needed. As I write this review, I see that the instructions actually say "add up to 37 fluid ounces (1.2 quarts) of oil." "Even" is not "exactly"! So don't try to do this exactly right or you'll make a mess! IMHO 36 oz. It's alright. Put a quart through the funnel. Then add more than 4 ounces, not guided by the small marks on the plastic oil bottle. Give the oil time to run out of the right and into the engine before working the hose out of the right; use paper towels and wait for a few drops. Check the oil level with the oil plug. It's okay if you're prepared. (I found drainage and second oil fill to be a bigger issue and will discuss later.)

6. Second-time engine started on the second engine start which is fine but I found the red "overload" light on and stayed on for about a minute which I thought was odd. Nothing was even connected to the Inverter generator. I was a bit panicked wondering if this was a normal initial boot condition or if I should turn it off. I read the manual and started reading the instructions and the red light went out I got to the right part first. I hope there will be later. This red light issue has not been released since the first boot and everything seems fine. During recent storage, the generator started fine and ran for about six hours without any problems.

After losing power a few times over the years after tropical storms, nor'easters, and ice storms, I've finally protected myself from losing many hundreds of dollars worth of food and sleep in the cold. I hired an electrician to install a "latching switch" that avoids the need for a transfer switch and the specific circuit wiring that this common approach entails. This lockout switch allows me to control the entire house or select specific circuits to keep powered while on the generator as it is controlled through my main circuit panel. I bought this generator as my backup system to connect to the house. When I received it, I spent about 90 minutes assembling the feet and wheels, adding oil and gas, and testing it at home. I'm generally excited, so there's nothing really negative, but here are my good and bad observations.

However, be sure to store it on the floor as you won't be lifting them or going up or down the stairs. Not even with two people. The closer you can keep it to the running location, the better.

3) The location of the 50 amp socket used to connect the house is too close to one of the wheels. This causes a bit of trouble when the sturdy cord is plugged in to connect to the house. It just took a little more effort and grumbling to connect than it should, but as you can see in the picture, it works. I've only had it for a week, but I've done quite a bit of testing with an oscilloscope and miscellaneous. meters and I am very impressed with it so far. With resistive loads, the output is a very nice sine wave with no visible distortion. The build quality looks pretty good, but I have a legitimate complaint, the fuel cap. On the one hand, it is huge, but the problem is that it has a very sloppy fit and the wires can barely hold it in place. The slightest bit of torque or pull seems to loosen it too easily. Nobody likes stubborn petrol fumes. At full power, it also makes a bit of noise. I'd call it camping friendly at 600W or less, but people will probably be bothered if you run it near full power.

However, the handle itself seems a bit light considering the weight of the generator. The handle seems more suitable for luggage and I hope it lasts a long time. The generator is assembled in China, no wonder there.

It is fairly quiet in operation and the Powersmart feature allows the generator to run at a lower RPM when the power requirement is lower, further reducing noise. The manual recommends changing the oil after the first ten hours of operation. After that, you should perform an oil change every 50 hours. It's probably a good idea to run the generator on lighter loads for the first ten hours to let it run in, but the manual doesn't require it. The fuel gauge seems fairly accurate.

I got this generator on an Amazon Lightning deal, so I'll keep it even if the RF interference problem is insurmountable. To power devices during a power outage seems like it would be fine. I've read that the Honda EU2200i generator is a good choice for powering RF-sensitive equipment, but it has a lower power output for the price. If I can't solve the RFI problem with Briggs & Stratton, I may need to purchase the Honda as a second generator for amateur radio use.
