One must imagine Sisypus happy not because he enjoys the struggle but because the struggle is all he has. Journey on the hill is who he is, without it he would lose all sense of identity. In an absurd world we define the struggle as our identity, identity is all we have and we are eager to maintain it even if it brings us misery.

howls moving castle is fun but it is way more fun once you realize that howl's been searching for sophie since he was a child and he can recognize that she has a curse on her from the get-go. hes just playing along with her "grandma sophie the cleaning lady" routine. watching howl in the breakfast scene is very funny once you realize he's messing with her
