Is Thomas Cook(India) affected by defunct of Thomas cook UK
Introduction:
Thomas cook Group plc a British global travel group, which was into hospitality and tourism industry founded in the year 1841 has ended its operation due to compulsory liquidation on 23 September 2019.
Package holidays, flights hotels, charter and scheduled passenger airlines, cruise lines and resorts were the various products and services provided by this company. Having the employees counting to 21,000 all around the world, the company earned the revenue of £9,584 million for the year 2018 out of which £250 million was the operating income but unfortunately the profit of the company for the year was £(−163) million.
Besides, Thomas cook (India) which is listed in the NSE was set up in India in the year 1881 being Thomas Cook UK a shareholder of it which was later acquired by a Canadian multinational Financial holding company Finfax in the year 2012.
Thomas cook India and Thomas cook group plc UK is completely different. They don't even deal each other’s customers.
On 23 September 2019 the CEO of the British Thomas cook, Peter Frankhauser had announced of its liquidity which created a buzz in the travelers who were on their trips about what next. The British Government had already planed and helped the people to reach back their homes safely, where as travelers not from Britain, where aided by the insurance company to reach back their homes.
What made such a huge firm collapse?
The company had a debt of 1.7 bn pounds and was also facing online rivals and geopolitical uncertainly. It was supposed to get a 900 mn pound package from various sources for which the firm was in need of 200 mn pounds to keep the company operational for the months of winter which were predicted to be low income months.
The company tried to get the fund from the UK government which denied its support in financial terms and the company had no other option but to liquidate.

Cabinet maker Thomas Cook created the travel firm in 1841 to carry temperance supported by train between British Cities. It soon began arranging foreign trips and was the first to take travelers on escorted visits to Europe US and even around the world trips
Will this collapse affect Thomas Cook India?
Thomas Cook India group has been a different entity since August 2012. It was acquired by financial holdings (Fairfax) a Canadian multinational in 2012. The Thomas Cook India Group's cash and bank deposits balances stand at Rs 1389 crores of June 30, 2019. The group generates an average annual free cash flow of around Rs. 250 crores. But yes there is other side that is to be noticed is the brand name for which TCIL is paying 2 crores p.a., had now become a problem to resolved promptly, that has already arose doubts in the mind of its audience and even led to downfall in the value of its share straight away after the collapse. The Company is trying hard to clear the confusion of the Indian audience and retain its trust by making personal outreach with its customers.
