[How to Master the Korean Alphabet pt. 2]
Now that youโve mastered the Korean alphabet, itโs time to learn how to put individual letters together to make words!
[Korean Block Syllables]
First, itโs important to note that unlike other alphabet-based languages like English, Korean words are spelled out in block syllables as shown above. Korean is also written from left to right, and top to bottom.
Letโs take the ํ in ํ๊ธ for example:
ํ = ใ + ์ + ใด ํ = ใ -> ํ -> ํ
[Example]
As you can see:
we started from the left with ใ
moved to the right adding the ์
then moved from top to bottom adding the ใด
[๐ฐ๐ท Important Notes ๐ฐ๐ท]
The grids above may resemble Chinese ็ฐๅญๆ ผ, and while similar, are not the same!
Again, as Korean is an alphabetical language, we can see how each box represents a different letter that is either a consonant or vowel.
Hope this helps and happy studying!
