Stormbuck

It pained her to know that he was thinking about his son, that all the pain that he had come along with it couldn’t just go away and that there was nothing she could do to make it go away. “Let me in Storm..” She whispered, “Let me know what’s going on in that head of yours.” She had so many questions that she wasn’t even sure he would be able to answer. She gave him a small smile, “But can’t you see I fell in love with you because of you, not because of your ability to fight. Violence doesn’t solve anything, why do you think i’d want you to hurt anyone for me? What Sean does to me is wrong, it’s so wrong but he’ll get what’s coming to him. I am happy for the first time in my life because of you. I don’t need anything else, I don’t need you to prove anything else.” She shook her head, “I thought I lost you for a little bit there. But everything is going to be okay, everything is going to be fine.”

“There’s too much.. I break everything I touch Scar...” The frown on his face evident. “I’m happy because of you too. I’m not trying to prove myself to you, that’s not it at all, I just want you to be happy, and safe...a-and he puts that at jeopardy so something had to be done.” The helpless expression on his face grew worse as he tried to plead his case to her.

Malakai hadn’t seen the other right away, the lights had gone out and he wasn’t sure what was happening. He didn’t know what was happening since everything had gone down and he didn’t know what he could do. “Hey. I don’t know I wish I did. Do you have any idea? I think the power just went out.” He was trying to come off calmer than he really was.

“I uhm...If I knew I wouldn’t have asked.” He said in confusion. He took a second to really take in what was happening and that’s when the panic set in. “I need to go find my girlfriend...” He said in a hurry, going to turn what he thought was the corner and walking directly into a locker. “Maybe I should let my eyes adjust first...” He said, trying to play it off cool hoping the other hadn’t noticed.

“He could kill you Stormbuck!” She was freaking out but for good measure, walking as fast as she could to keep up with him as she talked, and when she finally got him to stop and turn around and when her hands found his face and he started sobbing she knew that he was there, that he was listening somewhere. “You taught me how to love the world again, you taught me how to love in general Storm, you taught me that I deserved to be loved, and loved by you. I never meant to pass my hate along to you, I never meant to make you into this person, turn you against the world. I never wanted you to experience my side of the world I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” She saw on his face everything she needed to, every emotion that she could find to let her know that he was still there, that she was still in love with the same person. “Come back to me, come back to me baby. I need you, I need you more than I’ve ever needed anyone.” She wiped at his tears that fell, being cautious of where he was injured. “Everything you’ve done you’ve done for me, and I never wanted this to happen, never wanted you to get hurt. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

“Atleast then I’d be with Kase!” The words were out of his mouth before he could stop them. He knew that he meant them, but they still sounded so harsh coming out. He knew Scarlett didn’t need to see how bad he was still hurting over his son, she had enough on her plate. “You do deserve all the love in the world Scarlett Andrews, which is why I want to hurt anyone who’s inflicting hate onto you, why can’t you see that?” He asked, tears still rolling down his sore cheeks. He wrapped one of his arms around her, eyes sad as he looked down at her. “I’m right here, I’ve always been here baby.” He frowned. Wincing slightly at the sight of her hand coming towards his face, having too many flash backs of all the blows to his face just a couple weeks prior. “I’m sorry...” He said, defeat riddled in his voice.

She was quick to stand up and to follow him, “Leave the school?! Did you not hear what the creeper has been saying! Leaving the school is not an option Storm.” Her eyes were wide and her heart was breaking, “Yeah well you’re acting like a complete asshole who can’t admit when he did something wrong! I told you not to fight him, I told you that it would end this way and you went and did it anyway. All I wanted was for my boyfriend, who I love with all of my heart, to hold me while I cried and to tell me that everything was going to be okay, and to not go and pick a fight with the one person who knows how to break me more than I was already broken! I understand that you were angry, that you’re still angry, but I don’t know who you are Storm..” She let the first tear fall down her cheek, “I don’t know the guy that’s standing in front of me right now, the guy that curses like that’s a normal thing for him to do, the guy that goes and picks fights, the one who’s angry all the time. The guy I fell in love with wouldn’t hurt a fly.” She stepped forward cupping his face lightly knowing that he was still in a lot of pain, “I-I know he’s in there somewhere, I just need some sign..just show me some sign that the man I love is still in there somewhere.”

“What’s the creeper going to do to me that hasn’t already been done?” He frowned, pointing at the bracess still stuck on his teeth. “Yeah, well you don’t always get what you want Scarlett. Bye telling me about the sick fucker you invited me to deal with it however I saw fit!” He said, still angry as he walked. He swallowed, trying to get rid of the lump in his throat as she mentioned his recent new habit of swearing like a sailor. He knew she was right, but he didn’t know what to say. Sure he’d been engaged before this, but he’d never felt love like Scarlett’s. He wanted to protect her from absolutely everything and everyone. He stopped as she cupped his face and just began sobbing as he shook his head, unable to make words come out.

She shuddered as the word left his mouth, the anger that raged off of him scared her she didn’t know this person, she wasn’t sure she wanted to know this person, it reminded her too much of someone she didn’t want to think about. She rested her head on her knees that were pulled up to her chest, “We’re going in circles Storm, and i’m sick of fighting. I told you what would happen and you chose not to listen to me. I’m not a princess Storm, I don’t need you fighting for my honor, or whatever you thought you were going to accomplish by fighting him. I need you to be alive, and healthy.” He might not have lost the battle that he was fighting but he might’ve lost a part of Scar that she wasn’t sure she was going to be able to give back to him.

He stood back up and shook his head. “I can’t do this. I need to get out of this school.” He groaned thinking about her words. “You’re certainly acting like a princess.” He muttered under his breath, squinting his eyes, half in pain and half trying to see where he was going.

She felt as if she had just been hit in the gut by the one person she trusted the most. “Just because you lost a fight Stormbuck, specifically to someone that I told you you would lose to doesn’t mean you need to take it out on me.” She refused to look at him, “I’d rather it me than you any day of the week.”

“I didn’t loose, fuck.” He said angrily. The fight was anything but fair and she knew that. “Whatever Scarlett. It’s done, there’s no going back now. It’s not going to change anything.”

She gritted her teeth as he brought up the las thing she wanted to talk about- her son… their son. Her eyes began to well with salty tears, but she was quick to dismiss them, blinking them away before a single drop could fall. “My, um, parents kicked me out. Trust me, I wouldn’t have come here if I had a choice.” she bitterly replied as her arms crossed tightly over her chest, not wanting to meet his eyes. Part of her wanted to keep the restraining order a secret just to give him reason to stay away from her, but she had never been a good liar. And, either way, he would have learned the truth eventually. With a long sigh she reluctantly stated, “I had the restraining order dropped. I hadn’t thought I would ever see you again… I didn’t see the point. But now…” Now, she regretted it just as much as she did falling in love with him.

“They kicked you out?....You didn’t just stay living in the apartment we had? How come?” He asked almost angry. He looked at his feet as she talked about the restraining order. He almost didn’t want to trust that she had it dropped but she’d never been one to lie to him before. “But now? Does...Do you mean you’re going to have it put back on me?” His heart sank as he uttered the words, still unable to look her in the eyes.

“Really? You’re picking a fight with me right now, in the midst of all of this and you want to make a mad comment about something that I told you not to do? Real mature Storm. Exactly what we need right now.”

“No no, Scarlett you’re right, I should’ve just let him continue to abuse you like that. My bad. Next time you see him tell him I said what’s up.” He said flatly. He knew in his heart he didn’t want to fight with her, but he couldn’t manage to filter out the words coming out of his mouth, he was angry about the fight, and scared about what was happening here at Plath.

The soft sound of her shoes hitting the tile floor as she stepped away ceased. Just the sound of his familiar voice, which caused a wave of emotions to ripple through her, had seemingly caused her legs to quit working. She was rigid like a statue and her hand was pressed tightly against her leg in the shape of a fist. “What.” she managed to say, her tone uncharacteristically holding malice. “What do you want?” Sadie turned a bit so she could actually look at him. It had seemed like she hadn’t seen Stormbuck in an eternity yet he had hardly changed at all. “There’s nothing for us to talk about. And even if there was, I… I don’t want to.” the girl tried not to choke on her words as they left her lips. With every happy memory of Storm that resurfaced in her mind, so did the same tragedy. It was as if the image of Kase was on replay in her brain and she couldn’t figure out how to stop it. “So unless it’s something earth-rattlingly urgent I should go.”

“Sadie...” He said almost apologetically. “You know that I didn’t mean to. It wasn’t intentional, you KNOW that!” He barked at her, taking a step towards her again before panic set over him. “Wait, shit, I’m not allowed to be near you. You’re going to have me charged! Why are you here Sadie, what do you want?!” 

Scar was sat in the corner, the darkness throwing her off and the fact that the last time the creeper had come around he had been following her and taking photos of her. She sat and tried to curl herself in as much as she could. She looked up at the person trying to talk to her, “I could be next, I-I don’t know what to do.”

He looked down at his obviously scared girlfriend, but still couldn’t help but feel angry. He sat on the floor a few feet in front of her. “I forgot you were the only person capable of feeling pain.” He furred his eyebrows, still feeling pain when he talked. He still had braces on his teeth from where his jaw had been wired in the weeks prior, black eye still deep shades of dark blue.

Stormbuck. some of the best days of her life had been spent with him, but he was also the one who had brought her the most heartache. Sadie had known prior to joining Plath’s ranks that she would, at some point, cross paths with the man she had unconditionally loved yet also immensely hated. And, despite having dropped the restraining order, she had no wish to go out of her way to search for Stormbuck. Still, she had no control over fate. As she shuffled down the many tile corridors weaving through the academy, her face stuffed into a map she found quite complicated, Sadie turned a corner only to, literally, crash into the last person she would ever have wanted to see. Her hazel eyes widened as she stumbled back in surprise, the map fluttering from her grip to the cold floor. “Storm…” was all she could say. Before she could even think, the girl had spun around and already begun walking back the way she had come, saying to herself, “I- I can’t. Not now.”

Stormbuck had been absentmindedly walking down the halls. Ever since he’d come to Plath he’d been feeling happy. No one knew who he was here or what he’d done- except for Scarlett that was, and that’s because he’d been comfortable letting her in. Suddenly the wind was knocked out of him, he’d recently been in a huge fight and was still badly bruised and bloodied from it, so even the smallest touches felt like bricks. “Shit sorr-” He muttered before looking up in shock. There she was- Sadie. She still looked as gorgeous as he remembered her being. He almost felt like he was dreaming, as he’d done of her so many times in the past. He took a solid couple of blinks before panicking. “Fuck, I-I-’m...” He managed to muffle out as he stepped towards her. “Please!”

“Not for you Storm! For me!” She fought back, “Whatever you do to him he’ll turn around and do to me ten times worst. He knows your weakness, and he knows that you’re mine.”

“He’s not going to do anything to you. That’s the point in this... My weakness?! And that would be?”

“You’re going to go and find him? Storm that’s like asking for a death wish.”

“Are you seriously going to sit here and tell me you don’t think I can take him?”˛

She stayed there and she stayed quiet small tears still falling but she felt safe, she felt loved. “I love you.” She whispered, she needed him more than she ever thought was possible. 

He pulled away, tears filling his eyes. “Okay, Scarlett.” He said calmly before taking a deep breath in. “I don’t know what we’re going to do exactly, but we need to get you to the nurses, then I need to go find this guy. Weather you come or not is up to you.” 

The feeling of him connected to her almost wiped out the entire day, taking away all of her pain with only one sentence as she let a tear spill over as she was kissing him. All of her emotions were everywhere and she didn’t even realize that she was crying until he pulled away to speak for that moment. Her arms went around his neck and she didn’t want this to stop she didn’t want the world to rush back in around them. It was them, it was only them and while they were kissing what came before didn’t count anymore, didn’t matter. 

Stormbuck finally pulled away from the kiss and just looked at her. He placed his forehead gently against hers and just looked her in the eyes, still holding her body tightly against his.
