Mizuki is still a Nebulyx and an anomaly hunter in this AU.

However, she's still very young.

For now, she'll stay on Earth with her new family so she can grow up, learn, play, and have a beautiful and wholesome childhood. 💜

Later in the story, she'll leave Earth and travel far into space to begin her training as an anomaly hunter.

But that's a story for later... 👀🌌

Why Mizuki VioletHunter Exists — Kabal, My Other Half, and the Little Universe We Created

There are some characters you simply enjoy.

You like their design. You like their personality. Maybe you play them in a game, watch their scenes, draw them, make jokes about them, or just think they're cool.

And then there are characters who somehow become part of your own creative world.

For me, that character is Kabal.

I honestly don't know how to explain exactly why I became so attached to him without sounding incredibly sentimental, but I think that's the point.

My connection to Kabal isn't just “I like this Mortal Kombat character.”

He became the character that made me want to create something of my own.

And that's where Mizuki VioletHunter came from.

Mizuki is my sona for the Mortal Kombat universe. She was created because I wanted a character that could exist inside this world I loved. I wanted to imagine what it would be like if there was someone completely unique to my own imagination living alongside these characters.

But over time, Mizuki stopped being just a sona.

She became her own character.

She became a Nebulyx, an ancient cosmic race connected to the balance between universes. She became an anomaly hunter. She developed her own personality, her own history, her own abilities, her own relationships, and her own strange little habits.

And eventually, she became someone who could exist in countless different versions of Mortal Kombat.

That's one of the things I love most about her.

Mizuki doesn't have to belong to only one timeline.

She can exist in MK9.

She can exist in MKX.

She can exist in MK11.

She can exist in completely different alternate universes that I've created myself.

Her circumstances can change.

Her personality can change.

Her relationships with the characters can develop differently.

Her appearance can change.

Her story can be completely rewritten.

But somehow, she is still Mizuki.

And somehow...

Kabal is still there.

I think the reason Kabal became so important to me is because he feels like the character I naturally wanted Mizuki to be connected to.

They're so different.

Mizuki comes from somewhere beyond Earth.

Kabal belongs to the chaotic world of Mortal Kombat.

She's a cosmic anomaly hunter whose existence is connected to maintaining balance between realities.

He's a survivor who has lived through an incredibly harsh world.

She's strange in a way that's almost otherworldly.

He's strange in a completely different way.

And somehow, that contrast is exactly what makes it work in my imagination.

I don't see Kabal as someone who completes Mizuki because she's “missing” something.

I see them more like two completely different pieces that somehow fit together.

And that's why I call him my other half.

Not because Mizuki is incomplete without him.

But because creating Mizuki gave me a way to explore the part of myself that became attached to Kabal.

It's almost like I created a little bridge between myself and the Mortal Kombat universe.

And Kabal is standing on the other side of it.

One of my favorite things about Mortal Kombat is the idea of timelines.

The universe can change.

Characters can have different histories.

Events can happen differently.

People who were enemies in one timeline can have completely different relationships in another.

So I started thinking:

What if Mizuki existed in all of them?

What if there wasn't just one Mizuki?

What if there were countless versions of her?

A Mizuki for one timeline.

Another Mizuki for another.

A Mizuki created by different circumstances.

A Mizuki who grows up differently.

A Mizuki who meets different people.

A Mizuki who experiences a completely different Mortal Kombat story.

And that's why I love making variations of her.

They're not replacements.

They're possibilities.

They're different interpretations of the same character.

Different paths.

Different universes.

Different stories.

And somewhere inside all of those possibilities, there is always a Mizuki who crosses paths with Kabal.

It's almost like the universe can rewrite itself as many times as it wants.

But there's one constant I keep returning to.

Mizuki finds Kabal.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Something else that became a huge part of Mizuki's story is something that exists outside the fictional universe itself.

One of my friends on Discord is someone I call Sunshine.

I'm keeping him anonymous here because this isn't about revealing his identity. I just want to talk about the role he has in this creative world we've made together.

Sunshine and I often do RPs where our OCs interact with each other.

Sometimes our OCs are involved.

Sometimes our favorite Mortal Kombat characters are involved.

Sometimes the whole thing turns into complete chaos.

And honestly?

Those little RP moments became part of what makes Mizuki feel alive to me.

Because we're not just sitting there writing a serious storyline from beginning to end.

Sometimes it's literally just:

“What would these characters do if they were in this situation?”

And suddenly we're creating an entire scene.

One of my favorite examples is the way Mizuki behaves as a child in some of our RPs.

She isn't exactly an ordinary child.

She can be sweet.

She can be lonely.

She can get excited over something as simple as receiving a toy.

And then five minutes later she's hiding somewhere completely ridiculous and making everyone search for her.

In one of our RPs, little Mizuki was playing hide-and-seek and decided that hiding somewhere normal wasn't good enough.

She literally hid on the ceiling.

Johnny was looking everywhere for her, getting increasingly confused and frustrated, while Mizuki was happily watching from her impossible hiding spot.

And then she finally revealed herself and basically treated the whole thing like the greatest game ever.

That's the kind of thing I mean when I say Mizuki feels alive.

She's not always this serious cosmic warrior.

Sometimes she's just a weird little creature causing problems.

And that's something I really love about her.

Another important part of her lore is her family.

In my Mortal Kombat stories, Mizuki is the adoptive younger sister of Raiden and Fujin.

That relationship is incredibly important to the way I imagine her.

They're not just characters who happen to know her.

They're family.

Raiden and Fujin become her older brothers, and Mizuki gets to have that experience of belonging somewhere despite coming from an entirely different race and universe.

And then there's Johnny Cage, who has a different but equally meaningful place in her life.

In the RPs I do with Sunshine, Johnny often becomes a sort of father figure to Mizuki.

And I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy those scenes so much.

Because Johnny can be chaotic, dramatic, and completely Johnny Cage...

but when it comes to Mizuki, there's this softer side to the relationship.

He can be the person entertaining her when she's lonely.

The person trying to figure out where she disappeared to.

The person discovering that apparently the strange cosmic child he was supposed to be watching has somehow managed to climb onto the ceiling.

And Mizuki?

She absolutely takes advantage of it.

She'll happily make Johnny's life ten times more difficult and then act completely innocent afterward.

That's the kind of family dynamic I love creating for her.

One of the little RP moments with Sunshine that stuck with me was when Mizuki was asked about toys.

She didn't even understand what a toy was because, in her backstory, she grew up playing things like hide-and-seek with her siblings as a way of improving her instincts.

So when Johnny asks if she has toys, Mizuki basically goes:

“Toys? What's a toy?”

And that tiny interaction says so much about her.

She's incredibly old by human standards.

She's intelligent.

She's a hunter.

She's capable of dealing with cosmic anomalies.

But there are still completely ordinary childhood experiences that she doesn't understand.

Then Johnny brings her a doll, and suddenly Mizuki is completely fascinated.

She hugs it.

She names it Nyx.

And she's genuinely happy because she has something that feels like a normal childhood toy.

Those moments are why I don't want Mizuki to only be “the powerful OC.”

I want her to have small things.

Funny things.

Wholesome things.

Awkward things.

Family moments.

Chaotic moments.

Moments where she's simply a kid.

When Sunshine and I RP, we're basically building our own little corner of the Mortal Kombat universe.

Sometimes it's serious.

Sometimes it's emotional.

Sometimes it's completely ridiculous.

Sometimes we're just throwing our favorite characters into a situation and seeing what happens.

And that's honestly one of my favorite parts of having an OC.

Because Mizuki doesn't exist only inside a character sheet.

She exists in stories.

She exists in jokes.

She exists in conversations.

She exists in alternate timelines.

She exists in little scenes that Sunshine and I create together.

She exists whenever I imagine what would happen if she met a character.

And every new scenario gives her another little piece of life.

I think this is ultimately why I don't want Mizuki to have only one definitive version.

I don't want to say:

“This is the one Mizuki, and that's it.”

Because that would feel wrong for a character whose entire concept revolves around universes and anomalies and different realities.

Mizuki is practically made for alternate timelines.

There can be thousands of her.

Millions.

Different Mizukis can exist in different universes, each living a story that belongs to that reality.

And somewhere in those infinite possibilities...

there will always be one who meets Kabal.

Maybe they meet under completely different circumstances.

Maybe they're different people.

Maybe the universe itself is different.

Maybe everything around them has changed.

But there is still that connection.

That little thread running through every version of the story.

Mizuki and Kabal.

That's why Kabal feels like my other half.

And that's why Mizuki exists.

She is my little piece of myself inside Mortal Kombat.

She is my way of turning imagination into a world.

She is the character I can keep reinventing without ever losing what makes her special.

And thanks to the stories I create with Sunshine, she also gets to have friendships, family, silly adventures, childhood memories, and moments that I never would have imagined on my own.

So maybe that's the real reason I keep creating new versions of her.

It's not because one version wasn't enough.

It's because one universe was never enough.

There are always more stories to tell.

More timelines to explore.

More versions of Mizuki to discover.

More ridiculous RP scenarios to create.

More characters for her to meet.

More memories to make.

And somewhere, in every universe I create...

there is a Mizuki VioletHunter.

A Nebulyx.

A hunter.

A little sister.

A daughter figure.

A friend.

A sona.

A million different possibilities wrapped into one character.

And somewhere out there, in that endless multiverse of possibilities...

she's still finding Kabal.

Every timeline.

Every universe.

Every version.
