Lessons For the Heart part 2

so unmoved in your spirit

that surrounds,

do the birds

not foster harmony

in thrall to summers’ wake,

does the breeze 

not proffer

meadowsweet and rose

And once you have given someone

all of your love, your tears, and your dreams...

it’s hard to believe in people again,

but none will tell you this;

those who hurt you only do it

because they’re still searching for something - they want to love you,

but they don’t understand how to love themselves

Sometimes you have to acknowledge a feeling, let it get under your skin, feel it drag on your feet, then let it settle. Let it disappear. Let it reappear. And then let it be as it always was and accept the world from beginning to end.

I’m tired of being a lesson

A path for sorry souls

To follow in reach of the light

I don’t care to fill hearts for others to receive

As if they’d been whole all along

For what does that leave me?

A fighter who is never fought for

and a lover who is never loved

To understand or to experience

I avoid

I stay away;

I keep sane

by all means possible

I sit in the garden of

AVOIDANCE - 

Smiling to myself

Death

dripping of fear

You’ll find me standing far from home. Above the ocean, all alone. I’ve gone in search of something new. Another world is hidden in the blue. Looking to finally be set free from this life so I can see. I’ve had the light drained from my eyes, as the glow of the sunset dies. I lay me down among the flowers, to pass the sleepless hours, watched by the cold and distant moon, as oblivion comes to take me away.

Promise me something, you are going to show him what he’s giving up. Even if it takes your whole life, you will make sure that day will come. Until then, you are going to do amazing things. That fire in your belly will set the world alight. While he watches from the sidelines, until all at once, the realization hits him like a punch in the gut - the weight of what he’s lost. 

And with my thoughts this scattered, I gather them like flowers. Hold them, pressed up to my chest like a child, going on senses rather than reason.
