Killian gave her a grin, leaning on the counter with his arms crossed. “Yeah, whatchu got back there?” 

“Brownies, cake, cookies, scones, muffins, cupcakes...But if I were you I’d go with the brownies. They’re our best seller.”

“Well then let’s get you out there again, yeah?” Grant said, putting his hands on her shoulders. 

“Oh, right. Actually getting out there.” Leslie pulled a face. “What if she smells bad?”

Grant let out a small laugh at Leslie. “Thank you, Les. For everything.”

“Of course. You’re my best friend, I’d gladly do everything for you.”

“So you two broke up?” Katie asked. “Merlin, I miss so much all the time.” She then raised her eyebrows. “Online dating is horrible. You haveto be doing it wrong then, let me help you.”

“Well, yeah. Obviously.” Leslie said it was like there was no big deal. “I have Tinder. The girls look okay and then I go out with her and she has seven big dogs with her.”

“Hannah,” she said, caught slightly off guard.

“Nice to meet you.” Leslie kept looking at the bar. “We were at school together for a bit. And I made it a goal to make more friends so...hi.”

When Leslie asked that Kennedy not say anything, she nodded quickly. “Don’t worry, I totally understand. No one will hear a thing from me. Well, I mean, I’m not just gonna not say anything ever again, but about this- you get it.”

“Okay. Cool.” Les smiled awkwardly, not sure what to say now. “Uh, if you’re ever in the Bearclaw, ask for me. I’ll, uh...cover your bill. You’re one of us now.”

“You can only do that so many times, Les,” Grant replied. “That’s not really a great solution.”

“How many times have you messed up?”

“That would require me telling her that you are very gay, so no,” Grant replied. “If you don’t want to, we can just basically say it’s a friend hangout.”

“You should invite Kennedy.” Leslie blurted. “Once things are less...messy. Which they will be.”

“And you’re ready for that?” Grant asked.

“I guess.” Leslie shrugged. “I want to be.”

“I need to introduce you to Netflix,” Katie replied. “My roommate has me addicted to Gilmore Girls lately. I think you might like it.”

“I know what Netflix is, I’m not Dad.” Leslie rolled her eyes. “I’ll have to check it out if it’s as good as you think.”

“You tell them the truth. Look, it’s none of their business what you do, or who you do. They can think what they want, but if they care about you they won’t give a damn who you date.”

“You’re...you’re right.” Leslie sighed. “I need to grow up. Or whatever. Thank you.”

Grant rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah, I’m a sweetheart to you. What if I’m like unintentionally a dick to her and he ends up hating me. I tend to do that.”

“Then you’ll apologize and make it right.” Leslie nodded. “That’s how grown-ups deal with the real world.”
