Here’s the thing: pointing out when things people say or do are racist or transphobic or what have you will always, 100%, be better than letting them slide. Casual bigotry can be just as damaging as outright hatred or violence. Dismissing the things the houseguests say with an “it was only once” or a “what do you expect they’re being watched 24/7″ isn’t okay because one, even mistakes or accidents can be hurtful and two, the idea that people will automatically make gross comments in private and we’re only seeing them because of the feeds is such a cop-out. Most people aren’t acting this way in private, so why are you trying to justify or normalize it?
