(Pluey gasps. Hiss breath gets caught in hiss throat)

(Pluey coughs, bringing her hand up to her mouth)

(FRIEND lets out another distorted cackle as Pluey continues to cough, the discordant saxophone honks getting more and more grating)

(Pluey tastes metal. Something warm just splashed on his hand. He pulls his hand away and... That's blood. He coughed up blood)

*Batt– ahk!*

(Pluey coughs once more, leaving meow struggling to breathe. Tears fall from hiss eyes. Blood drips from hiss mouth. Mew feels lightheaded)

(FRIEND laughs again as Pluey gasps and wheezes)

Poor, poor kitty. I pity you. But you know what they say.

(Another weak saxophone cough)

Curiosity killed the cat.

(FRIEND's tail impales itself into Pluey's chest)

(Pluey wakes up with an upright jolt and a terrified gasp. Her heart is pounding. She breathes heavily and looks at the two Darkners next to her. Battat's awake, mumbling some nonsense about Mike, and Jongler's asleep)

(Pluey starts to cry)

(Battat sits up)

(Pluey begins to "speak", but is abruptly cut off by a series of discordant, broken notes that sound like someone playing a badly damaged saxophone very poorly)
